Title: Countries at War: Gear up, Stock up, Conflict inbound.
Post by: Phantom on October 05, 2010, 12:16:50 am
Countries at War: Revised Mode

Brother, I'm starting this again, but let me run a few things across.

1. Don't ask too many questions, or I'll crack down on you like Cold War KGB on American Spy.
2. Don't suggest crap, that's one of the reasons I stop these.
3. Do not, I repeat, do not attempt a take over of this thread.
4. No ridiculous nation naming, if you do that you're immediately booted.
5. I can boot players due to personal vendetta. (Read: Armok and Dwarf mc dwarf/Medicine Man.)
6. No Micronations. That means you, Barbarossa.

Now, back to the other shit.

Spoiler: Map (click to show/hide)

Note: This is pretty much a list of nations, I'm to lazy to update it. The map will be updated with the turns.

Try that again, and you'll be prevented from joining. Wait, no.
I will punch you in the soul if you do that again.

Barbarossa, the first map is good, albeit large though. Please color it in for the countries. As I am a bit loopy today, I can't do anything.

NO COOKIE FOR YOU!!!... No its not Dune. Sounds like it don't it, but no this is different. Imagine Japan suddenly going black from the rest of the world, no satellites can look onto the country, all planes passing over are shot on sight and all ships are turned away unless they continue where they are once again shot on sight. Technology that has created a 'mirror' like wall around the country disallowing anyone from looking at the place from any distance unless they can pass through this small opening where there are guns and big boom boom weapons pointed at you for long time. And the only thing thats allowed to enter or leave the country is a AI controlled Tradeship which is shipping out High Tech equipment...

I will also give a clue, its Anime but not Anime.

Wait, I redact what I said about mechs. Yes you may research them as an improved Vehicle unit type, but only things like walking tanks and shit. Nothing like a fuckin' gundam or somethin'.

And I forgot, you also start with $500 as a minor upgrade or unit build up fund.

South Africa shall build the Don Brotherhood.

I'll buy a unit of bombers and a unit of militia and use them to attack the little country in the middle of my nation.
I will begin research into military indoctrination of my soldiers.

If militia oppose aircraft, do they end up as -2 units that stampede over their own team-mates as they run away?

First, you don't have enough money brother.
Second, no they just miss and fire wildly at them with a lower chance of hitting with their anti-aircraft weapons.
Lastly, they have a message for you.

I think you mean Canada (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada). Not Candida (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candida).

I'm not joining (since I don't really enjoy playing CaW games anymore), but I'll be watching. Kinda.

Anyway, Phantom, I've a map for you. I copied and halved the size of the first map Barbarossa posted (you said it was albeit large), removed the blured lines (so you'll have a easier time editing it) and colored the countries currently listed in the first post. Note that there may be a few oddities from the size halving and the sharpening of the lines, but I'm pretty sure I found and fixed quite a few if not all of them.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But if that's still not small enough, here's a quarter sized map if you want to have the map even smaller.

Train a unit of regulars. Two units of regulars will invade Germany (Hah! Now the boot is on the other foot!) and two units of infantry will join Ukraine with The Sovereign Nation of Free Poland, as an equal brother in arms.

Additionally, the The Sovereign Nation of Free Poland would like to extend a formal peace treaty to our long-time friend King Qloos of Britannia, who we hope will continue the peace between the two nations.

The leader's name is JAROSŁAW, the President of the Sovereign Nation of Free Poland.

EDIT: Changed quite a bit.

A mob of armed people stand outside of Panama's capital building, shouts and sporadic bursts of gun fire could be heard from the victorious people. One man climbs up the steps, intent on taking control of this angry mob.

"My brothers! We have captured their building! Their building belongs to use now! I..." As the man fell Diakron walked up the steps smoke drifting from the barrel of his gun.

"Now that he's finished, I'd like to speak! We have big plans! Today Panama falls to use, but before my days are done, much more shall be ours! Our friends in Brazil have just contacted me recognizing our nation and pledging peace to us!"

As the population erupts into cheers, Diakron turns and walks into his new capital, his hand tracing over objects as they pass by, a smile forming on his face. Stopping before a bank of computer screens depicting the world, with technicians scrambling to finish it he observes the mostly undefended Costa Rica.

Big plans indeed...

We don't get rules, we just have to wait and see how Phantom is going to mess with us. Maybe you need 5 regulars to capture a nation, and everyone who tries less will have their starting forces slaughtered. Maybe you can easily capture a nation with a single militia and Phantom will have conquered half the map before we can blink. All we can do is wait and see...

Consider changing me to dark grey or something, because currently my entire empire will end up being a single homogeneous blob, which would be unbalanced, on account of all my defences and investments working across my entire empire.
Yeah, erm, doing that next turn or something.

Also, Phantom, a little but important tip with RAM's black nation: Don't cover RAM's territories in complete black (like you're doing now), but in almost-black. Why, you ask? Well, you can't use the Fill tool without major problems, as RAM's pure black will blend in with the border line pure black, which means whenever you try to fill any of RAM's territories another color (like from him losing some to other players) you'll fill in all the border lines connecting to the entire landmass(Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia) and all of his other territories with that color instead of just one territory. If you don't believe me try filling RAM's territory in another color. This small preventative measure will save you a lot of work in the future.

South Africa recovers its armies and marches into Botswana with IV units of regular infantry.
All available funds are put into research of Military Indoctrination.

Hmmm, I either have $1124 or $624. I need $625 to finish my project...

Anyone want to- nm...

A flurry of activity surround Diakron as he watched the news update. His friends in Brazil had meet more resistance then expected and had had to withdraw, Costa Rica was child's play, but important to expanding. Panama was the perfect place to field a navy, and Diakron had know this before even considering what country to take over. After placing an order, Diakron orders a division of Regulars to assist Brazil's take-over of Colombia.

I move my Infantry down from Britain, through France to attack Belgium.  From France I invade Switzerland and Luxembourg with 1 unit each.  Lastly, I move 2 infantry from Ireland, through Britain to reinforce France.

I buy another army of regular Infantry in France and save the other $275

Question One was: Do I need transport as I am thinking I do for being an Island Nation, if so why could Australia attack their targets last turn... (I was waiting for an Answer last TURN before putting IN a turn...)

Question Two was: How much Income do I recieve Each Turn???
