Title: The embark screen lists "Town" on my list of neighbors.

Dwarves, humans, elves, goblins, a couple towers, and... "Town."

You have a necromancer as a neighbor. He isn't mighty enough to have erected a tower yet but he and his followers inhabit that town.

I think it's also possible the site has been taken over by bandits, who might siege or ambush you.

I have seen this along with a site called "Fortress". I hope it's a necromancer with an army of dwarves!

OR maybe an anciant vampire queen from a long dead desert entity.

I had a town that was controled by a necromancer and then later captured a clown from below and taught it secrets of life and death. The clown brought an army from undead goblins who he proceeded to kill because he couldn't control them. Then he started sneaking into my base and wouldn't leave when noticed. I had a great amount of fun during that time.
