Also, I totally would have voluntered if I didn't think the health stat was a bad idea. Mana stat to.
Why are they bad ideas? Because they're different than what we had, or what?

Why not just have it straight Resit plus Defense? Same with mana. Just make it straight Magic plus mind. Then you don't need to raise the statcap to make things work as well.
Why is that a bad thing?

He means that we could calculate HP and MP from other stats instead of having stats for those stats.

((as I repeated a dozen times, that kinda stuff snowballs, Luthar being the best example. You get more health *and* take less. There's a synergy here that if you put enough points into this, makes you nearly invincible. Give an enemy lots of defence and resistance, and he will hardly take any damage *and* have a lot of health, so the little damage you occasionaly do no longer matters))


Turn5

ICARUS increases her strength once more and bullrushes Alucard! [7] vs [6], she bashes into him, dealing [8+3] vs [3] 8 damage! Oof, that girl sure weighs a ton....

Alucard, having enough of that bullshit, tries to cast a medium voidlash [14], he casts it flawlessly, and sends it towards ICARUS! [9] vs [4], he hits her, [12] vs [3], dealing 9 damage! Both combatants received heavy blows, looks like the gloves are off...

Turn 6

ICARUS increases her speed and strength this time by 1.2, giving her 17 speed and 11 strength. She procceds to karate kick Alucard! [10] vs [6], she hits him squarely and [7+3] vs [5] deals 5 damage!

Alucard now in somewhat of a pickle gets out the big guns [9] and succesfully casts the rift, trying to land it right on ICARUS...[8] vs [11-2] but ICARUS just barely avoids it!

((oh hey, high init can be negative too. With ICARUS acting first, she can not try to interrupt Alucards action, as he acts after she already acted. Interesting))

ICARUS, still enraged, smashes a bottle of booze over Alucard! [9] vs [8] Despite his best efforts, Alucard does not manage to dodge in time, [6] vs [8], he takes no damage, but is now covered in alcohol...oh god ICARUS what are you doing...

Alucard attempts an emergency summon! [7], some sort of small, but angry looking tentacled beast appears.

Alucard (17) (4)

Insert action. Brb as I consume now finished food

((Yeah but I would prefer somewhat over powered enemies to having to waste skill points on Health. That hardly makes sense as it is.))

I don't see why.

If Alucard's summon is completed in a single turn, and ICARUS acts second, the summon's done by the time ICARUS acts. If it's completed over multiple turns, ICARUS's turn comes up again before it's finished. Besides, if ICARUS expected this, she could ready an action.

Turn 8

ICARUS proceeds to take an ashtray, still with ignited cigarettes in it from the rapidly fleeing bar visitors, at Alucard, [6] vs [3], hitting him in the head [7] vs [2], dealing 5 damage and setting Alucard on fire oh god ICARUS is a psychopath afterall oh god. Alucard takes [3] fire damage, and will continue to to take 1d3 fire damage, ignoring armor, until he is extinguished.

Alucard attempts another summon, but he used his mana too liberaly. He finds himself unable to muster the strength to summon yet another one.

Since Alucard has no summoning rules yet, I will for now take Selina as referance, and to her summoning something with a stat total of 24 is a big spell, and that's the mana I deducted from Alucard for his summon, so it has a base of 24, divided by 8, that means the summon has 3 in all stats....oh hey look, we actually found something that requires patching in this test battle, summoning rules.

Since Alucard decided to spill ICARUS drink in a pre-patched bar however, the summoned tentacle thing just kinda pointless flails at ICARUS.

well, I guess that's it for the test battle. So far so good. You guys observed, what seems like a problem?


obviously, summoning does not quite work yet. someone who actually uses summoning please try and make rules for that

The one thing that seems like a problem is the number of turns, I think we might need cut the health down a bit.
