So is the story really about a Comet that has been in the sky since the dawn of time predicting a terrible time to come?

Like is destiny a big theme on Game of Thrones?

No, I'm pretty sure it's all about the North being northern.

I was re-watching Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and found a quote that perfectly sums up how I play DF.

I am not sure if that is a more generic description of Game of Thrones... or if it sounds much more epic than Game of Thrones ever was.
Sounds like the description of a cheesy-as-hell kung-fu film. Cheesy-as-hell kung-fu films are freakin' rad.

I believe the better question to be: who is Carson Kressley?

There is a comet, but it only appears in A Clash of Kings/Season 2 and is only really meaningful there. (Yes, somehow, they managed to slap a mangled description of the second season on a season 1 DVD.) What the comet really means is a point of contention among a number of characters. One group thinks it's guiding their exodus through a desert, others believe it's guiding an expedition into the land beyond the Wall (as the case puts it, the "northern north",) some think it means magic is coming back to the world.

The best part of this case, IMO, is the names. "Stannis" became "Stan Nice", "Renly" appears to have become "Langley", "Daenerys" is now "Dani Liz", and I have legitimately no clue how "Tywin Lannister" became "Lanny Lancaster". "Calaca" was originally "Dothraki".

Additionally, Google Translate tells me that "xiongbing" means something like "bear c" or "bear and", and "shiguweihan" apparently means "bones are not cold", neither of which really make sense in context, and I'm legitimately confused as to how the Black Sea and Zhu China are connected to the Iron Islands.

Oh I didn't even think of that. Their are so many of those that they would probably need their own thread to discuss them all.

So the company that produced the anti-graffiti coating for the Holocaust memorial in Berlin also was the producer - through a subsidiary - of Zyklon B, the stuff the Nazis used to gas the Jews.

Talk about creating a demand for your product.

Those were absolutely cringe-worthy. On the other hand, "Sir, that is your nipple. Everyone has these."
