Since I don't wish to just edit my post, I want to ask:

How graphically taxing will this be and if possible what is the min. RAM required?

I kinda run a laptop, and while I would love a desktop, I don't have the money to afford a gaming PC sooo what I have is what I have

looks dam nice i like the drop pod mevhanic.
can you st where they land?
are there plans to add z levels (i think i would prefer without)?

No plans to add Z-levels.

Drop pods come down for lots of reasons, some of which you can control. Obviously you can't control where enemies land, but you can site where you want traders to drop your purchases.

Thanks for all the interest, everyone else! I'm working on getting the game ready for a wider release. Hopefully it'll be a month or two from now.

I don't actually know. The game isn't optimized right now so it runs like 2000 draw calls per frame (that's a lot). But I haven't tested for performance beyond making it testable. In principle there's nothing that a basic graphics card couldn't handle. None of the shaders are higher than Shader Model 2.0 (that's DirectX 9) if your card can handle that.

Alrighty, I just wanted to know as Prison Architect ran a bit slow(Still playable at the time when I decided to pirate it to try it and didn't like) since this had the same graphics style, I just wanted to know.

Thanks!

Oh, very exciting!

Can you elaborate on the AI director? how is it functioning? Does it have pre-defined "events" that it throws at the player based on colony size/sophistication?

The Storyteller has access to a library of "incidents". These are things like
-Thunderstorm begins
-Raiders attack at X strength
-Local animal goes insane and attacks
-Food drop from deorbiting cargo container
-Trader arrives

The Storyteller's job is to activate these incidents in some sequence and timing to create a certain kind of experience.

You can configure which storyteller you want at the start of the game. Each has a different AI. E.g. Cassandra Consistent runs the same challenge curve each game, Randy Random just does crazy stuff (which will often be very hard or impossible to beat), Phoebe Friendly does good stuff so you can build.

When I first read "Rimworld" it made me think of Discworld, and I was confused for a second.

But no, this sounds pretty cool. I'd like a demo.

Made me think of "Rimmerworld". The fact that one of the storyteller AIs is called "Cassandra" doesn't help matters. :)

Rimmerworld was an episode of Red Dwarf, don't worry.
I really like the look of this and I am looking forward to a demo. :)

I can offer to test to spellcheck/grammarcheck/consistencycheck your stuff, if you'd like. Or you can just send me the text stuff and I can send it back. This appears to be a neat project, and I'd like to help out, and that's pretty much the only way I can =P.
