My next character is going to be "Children's card games" the expy. No usable skills, no easy item upgrades, and instead, a deck of reusable cards found through booster packs and enemy drops, with a draw and hand system.  His "skills" are randomly obtained, randomly allocated, and for some cards, have random effects.

Not to be rude, but doesn't that seem like a lot of work for the GMs?

I would settle for a card simply being included with other big loot payouts, so long as I started with enough on chargen, maybe a deck limit of 15, or something similar.

The idea is that the cards would have very simple effects and be rebalanced from any card game of the Gm's choice, or just made up.

Like, summon an 8 health minion who can attack once per turn for 1d4 damage, or a spell card that does some simple effect.

I would probably end up doing everything but the rolls and effects, and have a table for my current deck.

So I would start combat with 5 cards, draw one per turn, and activate them, removing them from battle, and get 1 to 4 new cards at the end of a plot.

Wouldn't just about any picture of a dragon count for the latter? As for the first one, here.
