There are still some night creatures Toady hasn't gotten around to yet.

Yet another eerie dust husk update: I am exuding repulsive murk from every part of my body. Holy shit.

HIT THINGS. HIT THINGS AND RUN.

This is just a guess but I think that murk is part of what spreads the husk taint. If you walk into town, slap a few peasants around and hide, you can probably start a domino effect that ends in a husk hamlet.

Husks are hostile to each other, so that's probably not a good thing.

I haven't found any dwarven fortress or elven settlement since the new build. Only human ones.

They haven't actually existed on the maps for many version and won't be back for many more.

does armor user increase the chance to successfully make an armor save, or just decreases armor encumbrance?

Just armor encumbrance. The only thing on your side that affects deflection probability is the armor itself.

Do you mean I can fill bags with water?
i dont think so.

...

my question:

anyone else waking up drowsy after a full night's sleep?

No, I'm sure it can. I've done it nearly every adventure. They can store up to a 100 units of water.

As for the sleep, what probably happened was that you tried to go to sleep before your adventure was actually tired, and that makes [Z] by default "wait without sleeping", so you have to hit to switch it to "sleep as necessary". It happened to me all the time, and took me weeks to figure out what was going on.

Wait a moment....

I think I know this story.

A young blond human, the last of his kind, in a amazingly hostile world filled with strange and savage creatures, who travels around seeking ruins and places that might have been inhabited long ago?

Aaaadventure Time!

Or Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth. Except, not a boy.

Again, this thread is the best one ever. This has to be achieved.

Do you mean archived?

Peasants whack rocks together to make them sharp then throw them at rabbits until they kill one, then make it supper.  Then they train for long grueling weeks, wrestling the local fluffy wamblers, hoping that one day, one day... they too, will have their moment of glory.

In the meantime, if a damn lion shows up, you will run the hell away from it.  Small steps.  Maybe start with a badger.
No, it's not that bad. You just have to play smart instead of rambo style as demigod.

Does "playing smart" mean anything besides lots of grinding against very weak enemies and abusing cheesy AI exploits (like how if you're more than three vertical or horizontal away from someone in and hiding, ranged attacks can kill them with impunity)?

How do were-curses transfer exactly?

Can you actually starve to death? I've neglected my hunger/thirst for quite some time and had no visible ill effects from it.

If you are starving or dehydrated, you get a debuff that gets worse and worse.

They kill you too after long enough: I think Toady said a month without eating and a week without drinking.

Which shops sell ammo? Apparently there are plenty of ammo lying around in castles. Which shops sell waterskins?

I don't know, but bags work much better than waterskins anyway.

also found wrestling was buffed or something, seems even strangling anyone a little bit makes them instantly pass out, makes killing just about anyone easy work, strangle a turn and they pass out, chop off there head, win :D

That's been like that for quite a while, actually.

My last adventurer died (indirectly) from an arrow despite blocking it with his shield...

The first combat action against sapients:
> The bolt strikes you in the arm severing many nerves   >:(
> The bolt is deflected by your shield   :-\
> You drop your shield  :o

It didn't take long after that to die.

That's almost as if the arrow deals its damage before considering the effects of any defensive measures...

Are you sure you weren't just shot by a second bolt fired by a different crossbowman at the same time? I've never had any problem blocking arrows/bolts with shields.
Shouldn't the shield-drop have happened along with the first bolt impact before a second archer would even decide to fire?  There weren't any archers on screen at the time, but that doesn't mean there couldn't have been two.

I repeat, a second bolt fired at the same time. One is blocked, the other screws up your adventure's hand, the shield is dropped one frame later.

The evaporation is not instant.

It happens when the sun rises, and there's this one way to keep them from evaporating, but I forget what.

Does holding 2+ weapons per hand decrease effectiveness?

Only if the weapon is large enough that your adventurer needs to multigrasp it.

How do you locate someone in the dungeons/sewers?
I have moved into the right tile, I believe, as it says "TSK ***", but I can't find my target, which is extremely frustrating as the dungeons are extremely complex and you can walk around for ages.
I always take a left turn when possible, this way you won't miss your quest's target.

Yeah, just keep turning in the same direction every time. Following the perimeter will eventually shown you the entire floor, then you can just go down to the floor below that.

Should be easy enough to test by just comparing no quality vs exceptional. If there's a difference between those two quality levels, there will probably be also differences between intermediate quality levels.

A masterwork comparison would also be useful.

You can't in vanilla, but utilities (I think it was Runesmith) let you change to controlling one of your allies, then you can give them whatever equipment and change back.

This is actually how you can get fucking demons in your party: they come up to take civilizations over, but then those civs get conquered and they become a prisoner, who you can free and have join you.
