Title: Roll to Escape: Escape the Graveyard (6/6, waitlist open)
Post by: The_Two_Eternities on January 09, 2020, 05:02:10 pm
Roll to Escape is a minimalist RtD where the goal of the players is to escape from the many locations that they find themselves in.

Chapter 1, Attempt 1, Round 1: Picnic Table

You are sitting at a picnic table. Normally this wouldn’t be too strange, but there are several baffling facts.
A: It is nighttime. Are there ever picnics at night?
B: Do you even know each other? Who are these people?
C: Who is that old man with an insane grin sitting at the head of the table in a rocking chair?

Noticing your confusion, the old man speaks.
“Well hello there! I am The Insane Old Man! But you know who I am! But I’ll tell you anyways!
As The Insane Old Man, I store all the insanity of the world and keep it from going insane!”
He spreads his arms dramatically.
“But it’s a two-way street!
…actually, don’t a right turn and a left turn make even half a street a three-way street?
So don’t that mean that a two-way street is limited somehow?”
He places a hand to his chin, thinking.
“Wait, where was I?
Oh yeah! It’s a two-way street. The crazier the world gets, the less crazy I get!”
He spreads his arms dramatically. Again.
“…wasn’t there something else… oh yeah, the picnic!
A shame that this is the only time we could all meet here, but what can ya do?
Dig in!”

Spoiler: Location/Players (click to show/hide)

…yeah, you know what? We can just move on to round 2.

Chapter 1, Attempt 1, Round 2: Cheerful Caretaker

A woman rushes out of the darkness. “Grandpa, you know you’re not supposed to leave the house alone! You work the night shift, but you’re with Dad then!”

Then, she sees you. She blinks in surprise… and begins making conversation, talking at a rapid-fire pace!

You have better things to do than engage in small talk… but you have a social obligation to be polite!

Say I'll go Go to an all night convenience store to steal some food. Insane enough right?

Won't be coming back though.

[Medium difficulty: 4]

The woman blinks, then stops talking directly to you. You’re not sure if she actually believes you, but that’s probably irrelevant.

Now all you have to do is make it out of her line of sight.

Mumble something in a foreign sounding language
Watashi no habla yingwen, amicus

[Medium difficulty: 1]

The woman gasps, and then begins speaking to you in the same bizarre muddle of languages. It’s even harder to understand her, and with her direct attention the social obligation is even stronger.

Fake a phone call and politely excuse myself.
“Sorry, I have to take this.”

[Medium difficulty: 4]

The woman nods, with perhaps an apology mixed into her ceaseless speech, and stops talking directly to you.

Now all you have to do is make it out of her line of sight.

Make a mockery of myself by performing modern dancing moves such as dabbing and default dancing, to make everyone else cringe and therefore won’t noticed me when I leave this picnic
“I have solid logic to turn this up to eleven”

[Medium difficulty: 4]

The woman glances at you with an expression of mild dislike, and stops talking directly to you.

Now all you have to do is make it out of her line of sight.

Excuse myself to go to the bathroom, then break off in a dead sprint in a random direction that is definitely not towards a bathroom.

[Medium difficulty: 4]

The woman nods, and stops talking directly to you.

[Medium difficulty: 2]

You try to sprint from a standing start, but catch your leg on the picnic table and have to grab it for support.

All you have to do is make it out of the woman’s line of sight.

Introduce myself:
"Hi, my name is Mario the Marvelous and Mischievous, or 3M. Your grandfather and I just finished having a lovely picnic."

[Medium difficulty: 5]

“Oh! I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be keeping you then. You’re probably ready to leave.”

Confirm escape? If so, also include action.

Spoiler: Location/Players (click to show/hide)

To clarify what escaping means: The obstacles can no longer affect you, but you can no longer affect players unless it would make sense for you to still be able to do so. If you escape from the final location in a chapter (not the case here), you can move away from it and perform actions accordingly. Otherwise, you are in a sort of limbo where you gain no insight into the next location. Either way, it would be a good idea to use your break time to prepare for whatever the next location might be.

Am I allowed to join? If so,

Search for a door and run towards it, hopefully it isn’t locked and I can open it and head through it

Nope, sorry. The player cap is lower than it was in my previous games in order to increase update speed. Added you to the waitlist, though. (Also, the players aren't inside. They're standing around a picnic table.)

Yes escape.
After escaping from the nice lady, proceed to find a large, sturdy branch. If I find one practice using it as a club. If I fail to find one just take the best branch I can find.

To clarify: Until everyone has escaped, the next location is a mystery, or at the very least mostly a mystery. It’s a good idea to use actions to make preparations that are applicable to a wide variety of situations.

The ground near the picnic table is grassy, with a few flowers, but no weeds. It wouldn’t be an illogical assumption that you’re in some kind of park.

You can change your action if you want.

Gently kick the table for daring to oppose me, before returning to running away from picnic.

You lightly kick the base of the table.

[Trivial difficulty: auto-4]

It seems that you have intimidated the table, because you quickly dash away from the picnic and out of the woman’s line of sight.

Confirm escape? If so, also include action.

Yes escape.
After escaping from the nice lady, proceed to find a large, sturdy branch. If I find one practice using it as a club. If I fail to find one just take the best branch I can find.

You have escaped.

[Easy difficulty: 2+1]

Well, it’s not a very large branch. It’s closer in size to a sword than a club, really. But it’s sturdy and relatively straight.

[Medium difficulty: 6]

It seems that you have some experience using a club. Unfortunately, not all of that experience applies to small clubs, so after a few practice drills you conclude that you’re not as good as you’d like.

Smile and nod. Thumbs up! Then just get up and walk away

[Medium difficulty: 1]

You nod and give a thumbs up in an attempt to overcome the social obligation, but the woman simply gasps again and switches to sign language. However, she’s now communicating slowly enough for you to make out what she’s saying. Or you could, if you knew sign language. But this gives you an idea. If you could get her to switch to an even slower form of communication, then the social obligation would be bypassed.

Get up normally, then head for the nearest street before walking down it. Keep on walking forward.

[Trivial difficulty: auto-4]

You walk away from the picnic table, and leave the woman’s line of sight.

Confirm escape? If so, also include action.

Wander off while talking to my phone.

[Trivial difficulty: auto-4]

You walk away from the picnic table, and leave the woman’s line of sight.

Confirm escape? If so, also include action.

Convince the granddaughter that my skills at dancing needs to be improved by an actual trainer, and use this as opportunity to leave the picnic

[Trivial difficulty: auto-4]

She nods at you, distracted by her one-sided conversation with TamerVirus.

You walk away from the picnic table, and leave the woman’s line of sight.

Confirm escape? If so, also include action.

Spoiler: Location/Players (click to show/hide)

The reason for the auto-4’s is that TamerVirus is distracting the granddaughter.

EDIT: Just gonna... put this piece of advice from last turn here... "Either way, it would be a good idea to use your break time to prepare for whatever the next location might be."

EDIT2: To clarify, just because you've escaped a location doesn't mean you're home free. You're only out of the woods (metaphorically) when you've escaped the final location in a chapter.

To clarify: You aren't able to leave the wider area yet, since TamerVirus has yet to escape.

Although that's not a completely useless action - a getaway vehicle might be somewhat useful for the next location of this chapter.

Escape confirmed. I spend my time picking flowers and humming happily.

This, on the other hand... are you sure you don't want to make some preparations for the next location?

Confirm escape, check to see if I have any pocket money or phone on me, using the GPS on the phone to track down a nearby hunting store or if no phone than seeing where the commercial hub for this city is and then going there

To clarify, again: There's still one location left in the chapter that the players haven't escaped yet.
Each chapter is a group of increasingly large locations; escaping, say, the first location doesn't mean you've escaped the second location.

Check my pocket for my phone and wallet, then call a cab back home.

Phone, check. Wallet, check. That’s good.

[Easy difficulty: 2+1]

You call a cab, but you suspect that at this hour it might take a while for a cab to get to your current location.

Escape confirmed. I spend my time picking flowers and humming happily.

You have escaped.

[Trivial difficulty: auto-4]

You pick a few flowers out of the ground, humming while you do so.

Confirm escape, check to see if I have any pocket money or phone on me, and than meander in a random direction until I found something interesting

You have escaped.

You have about a hundred dollars in your wallet, and you have your phone.

[Medium difficulty: 2]

You find nothing of interest besides a few trees and flowers.

Start blinking in Morse code before thanking her for her time

[Medium difficulty: 3]

In Morse code, you blink a message that’s probably close enough to “THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME”. The errors you made seem to have confused her, and she begins to talk (in English, and at a normal speed) to her grandfather about what the message might be. This means she’s no longer paying attention to you.

All obstacles overcame. Confirm escape?

Look around for something that would be better for a club and practice using it as a club. If I fail to find a better club than just Continue practicing with my current club.

Code: (notes) [Select]
Title/Name: Mario the Marvelous and Mischievous, or 3M
Weapon: a moderate-quality club, and has 0.5x practice with it (add +0.5x if quality upgraded)

[Medium difficulty: 6]

You find a piece of wood that would make for a good club; better than your current one, at least. Only problem is, it’s still attached to a tree. You climb the tree, and try to break it off. You try to use your weight to get it to snap off without falling down. You succeed at the first part, but fail at the second, hitting the ground with a thump.

[Medium difficulty: 6]

To be specific, your experience with clubs is in using large clubs. You have a good club, but it’s not as large as you’d like.

Escape. Find a fist-sized rock, preferably with a sharp-ish side.

You have escaped.

[Easy difficulty: 1+1]

Somehow, you fail to find any rocks larger than a pebble.

Spoiler: Location/Players (click to show/hide)

Somehow, the easy-difficulty rolls were a 1 and a 2. And then MonkeyMarkMario got two sixes. And then TricMagic got a crit-success on a behind-the-scenes roll for time by rolling two 1s.

I think we can move on to round 3 now.

Chapter 1, Attempt 1, Round 3: Grassy Meadow

You and the picnic table are in a grassy meadow with a few trees.
It is surrounded by a chain link fence.
Worryingly, you think you see a man walking around the outside of the fence, shining a flashlight around.

Wait behind a tree for the cab.

Once it's here, hop the fence and get in the cab before the guard can react. Give my home address so we can go.

You hide behind a tree and wait. A quarter of a minute drags into half a minute drags into a minute drags into a turn. It shouldn’t be much longer.

Escape Confirmed I guess this happened already...

Do some stealth; using trees as cover and perform some recon on the watchman. How big is he? Is he armed? Does he have a predictable patrol path?

[Medium difficulty: 3]

The grass rustles as you move around, but aside from a few momentary glances in your direction, the watchman ignores it.
The watchman is of slightly above average height, and when he passes under a streetlamp you see that he is unarmed. His predictable path takes him all the way around the fence, and it’s a fairly large park - it’d probably take him at least ten minutes to walk all the way around, maybe even fifteen or twenty.

Wait until the watchman has passed, then hop the fence.

[Medium difficulty: 1]

You almost make it over the fence, but then your foot catches and you end up shoving yourself backwards. You fall to the ground with a clatter and a thump.

See if I can sneak up on the watchman and knock him out with my club. If I fail to knock him out or he sees me before I can introduce myself and tell him from the back he looked like my rival.
"Don't worry guys I'll distract him, I hope."

Code: (notes) [Select]
Title/Name: Mario the Marvelous and Mischievous, or 3M
Weapon: a good-quality club, and has 1x practice with it (add +1x if size increased)

[Medium difficulty: 2]

Unfortunately, trying to climb the fence while also being stealthy is difficult. You only manage to get one foot off the ground.

I shall just sprint as fast as I can, and just climb the chain link fence to get over it

[Medium difficulty: 6]

You sprint towards the edge of the park, and leap on top of the fence with a loud clatter.

Climb over the fence and run with the others, hoping someone else distracts or incapacitates the guard.

[Medium difficulty: 1]

You end up climbing the fence a little too close to everyone else, and fall to the ground when someone steps on your hand.

Spoiler: Location/Players (click to show/hide)

The watchman swivels around and shines his flashlight at the three people on the other side of the fence, and then at Shadowclaw, who is perched on top of the fence.

One has to wonder what he’s thinking.

Wait behind the tree as the patrolman investigates shenanigans. While he is distracted, go to the fence on the opposite side of the park (and far away from the patrolman) and try to climb it

[Medium difficulty: 6]

You quickly make it to the other side of the park and, reasoning that the watchman will be quite distracted, abandon stealth and climb somewhat noisily to the top of the fence.

Stealthily find the gate and go out that way. If the guard sees me introduce myself and claim that I lost track of time.

Being directly in the path of the flashlight, you quickly decide to get your cover story straight. You introduce yourself as Mario the Marvelous and Mischievous, and explain that you lost track of time. At first the watchman is completely disbelieving, but when you mention the insane old man he begins to believe you.

Scream like a banshee, clamber over the fence desperately, and flee while continuing to scream.

[Medium difficulty: 5]

You scramble up the fence and hop down to the other side, screaming all the while.

Continue waiting, obviously.

The cab pulls up a few hundred feet away, on the other side of the fence. It shouldn’t be too hard to get past the watchman.

“Ow my leg. I think it’s broken.”
Convince the watchman to help me past the fence and to the hospital.

[Medium difficulty: 4]

The watchman sighs, annoyed but not angry. He pulls a phone from his pocket. “Hello, 911?”

Use the distraction that the other players are doing so that I can jump off the fence to the other side, hopefully somewhat gracefully

[Easy difficulty: 4+1]

You hop down to the ground, and sprint past the shocked watchman.

All obstacles overcame. Confirm escape?

Much better rolls than last turn.

[Medium difficulty: 4]

You climb down to the other side, and walk away while the watchman is highly distracted.

All obstacles overcame. Confirm escape?

Check, then go jump over the fence, before calmly walking to the cab.

[Medium difficulty: 6]

You jump up, but only go about a foot up. In mid-air, you grab onto the fence and loudly climb up to the top.

[Medium difficulty: 1]

You try to climb over the fence, but your foot gets stuck in it.

Confirm escape, meander around by moving past the gate until I found someone or something interesting

You have escaped.

[Medium difficulty: 3]

The only interesting thing you see is TricMagic climbing the fence to get to a cab.

Continue fleeing and screaming until I escape.

[Trivial difficulty: Auto-4]

You flee into the night, screaming as you go far, far away from the hopelessly confused watchman.

All obstacles overcame. Confirm escape?

Ask him to help me past the fence while we wait for the ambulance.

[Medium difficulty: 3]

The watchman raises an eyebrow and gestures to his ongoing call with emergency services.

Spoiler: Location/Players (click to show/hide)

[Easy difficulty: 6+1]

A police car drives up to the fence near the night watchman, and two police officers step out, one hand on their hips, looking at Questorhank and MonkeyMarkMario. An ambulance is visible in the distance.

Escape confirmed

You have escaped.

Check, then go jump over the fence, before calmly walking to the cab.

Continue walking calmly to the cab.

[Medium difficulty: 4]

You climb down the fence and get into the cab.

“Where to?”, the driver asks.

All obstacles overcame. Confirm escape? If so, include preparation action.

Inform the officers that I lost track of time and was just trying to find the exit, explain about the old man if I need to. Then proceed in the direction the watchman pointed.

[Hard difficulty: 2-1]

“It’s three in the morning,” one of the officers says in a deadpan voice, as if he’s used to bizarre explanations. “There is no possible way you could simply have lost track of time.”

Confirm escape

You have escaped.

Wait for the ambulance.

The ambulance arrives, and drives past your location. Presumably it’s heading for the vehicle entrance.

Call up a food delivery place for a ~15$ meal, and have them send me a pizza box or two at the grassy meadow

[Easy difficulty: 3+1]

It turns out that there’s a pizza place open at this hour, and you place an order with them. It might take quite a few turns for the order to arrive, though.

Spoiler: Location/Players (click to show/hide)

I didn’t expect to have to give this reminder, but preparation actions (ex. practicing a skill, or beginning the process of learning magic) are very important, despite the difficulty for the more powerful rewards. In addition, the game is called “Roll to Escape”, not “Roll to Escape But Then Walk Straight Into Jail”.

Do some push-ups and sit-ups while waiting for the pizza to come on time, trying to stretch and work up my musculature for the chaos that will inevitably happen

[Easy difficulty: 2+1]

You do work out. Sort of. Half the time you’re just staring at the sky daydreaming about pizza, which is strange because you aren’t especially hungry.

Practice my ability to run and scream by continuing to do those things. At three in the morning. I may be the true monster here.

[Easy difficulty: 2+1]

You scream, and run, and scream, and run. You’re out of breath from running so you don’t scream very loudly, but you’re getting fairly good cardio.

Explain about the old man to the officers, that he is a bit senile and seems to live in the park. Ask the watchman to help explain about the old man. Then proceed in the direction the watchman pointed.
If I would have know what time it was I would have changed my tactics earlier.

The officer blinks, confused. “I… what? What does an old man have to do with you trespassing?” He looks over to the night watchman.

The watchman shrugs. “He’s telling the truth, I think. He described my great-uncle pretty well. No idea why my great-uncle would be in a park in the middle of the night, though.”

While the two of them try to figure out what’s going on, you decide to get your foot un-stuck and leave.

[Easy difficulty: 1+1]

You try to wiggle your foot out of the fence, but it doesn’t go very well.

Practice some boxing in an alley to pass time and better my hand to hand skills

[Easy difficulty: 4+1]

You practice some shadow boxing in the alley, and you’re actually doing pretty good at it. If you kept it up for a little bit you could probably take on the average street fighter.

Continue waiting.

The ambulance arrives near you, and one of the officers along with it. A paramedic steps out of the ambulance, and begins examining your leg.

He looks up at the officer. “His leg’s fine. You sure this is the guy with a broken leg? What about that guy with a foot stuck in the fence?”

The officer shrugs. “He certainly said he had a broken leg.”

Escape Confirmed.

By the by, what city am I in right now, and what street is this?

"Can you take me to the nearest bar. I'm a bit new to this city."

The same city as before, I suppose? Is it important?

The cab driver grunts in acknowledgement, and makes a right turn, driving down the city streets.

[Easy difficulty: 5+1]

You yank your foot out, but a cramp hits your heel, forcing you to hobble awkwardly away from the distracted policemen. You soon reach the exit, but it is a locked gate just as tall as the fence.

Jumping jacks for cardio training

[Easy difficulty: 4+1]

You switch gears, and begin doing jumping jacks. One, two, three, hup, one, two, three, hup…
After a few minutes, you stop, only somewhat out of breath. Once again, if you did some more training in this, you would see a noticeable improvement.

Keep running, screaming hoarsely as I run out of breath.

[Easy difficulty: 6+1]

You run, and run, and run. And then you keep running. You notice yourself slowing down slightly, and push forward, gaining speed.
Hang on.. You swear you’ve gotten faster in the past few minutes. Yep, you definitely have. This is a surprising development.

More strength training, try to do tricks like push-ups with one hand, one-arm pull ups, etc while using the pizza as motivation to work harder

[Easy difficulty: 5+1]

You do manage to do one-handed push-ups and one-armed pull-ups, but doing so takes long enough for you that it doesn’t provide a net benefit to your training.

"Well something's wrong with it; the pain is 7/10!"
Convince the paramedic that I'm in immense pain an need to leave the area.

[Medium difficulty: 4]

The paramedic rests his hand on his chin. “Could be an internal injury…” he mutters to himself.
He and another paramedic place you on a stretcher and carry you into the back of the ambulance. You see the police officers driving away.

What is there to say but continue the cab ride?

The cab continues driving, heading out of the suburbs and into the urban part of the city. Shouldn’t be too much longer of a ride. What do you plan to do once you get there?

Spoiler: Location/Players (click to show/hide)

Surprisingly high rolls this turn.

back to shadow boxing for now

[Easy difficulty: 1+1]

You get a little too overenthusiastic, and punch the wall instead of your shadow. Your hand stings a little, but it doesn’t feel hurt.

While running, train a bit of parkour; jump over imaginary objects, try to take sharp corners, and attempt a bit of (presumably ill-fated) wall-running.

[Easy difficulty: 5+1]

You have to slow down to your previous speed to practice parkour, but that’s still a running pace. The wall-running attempt is unsuccessful, though.

Climb over the gate and leave, if the watchman come over and unlocks it for me walk out instead. EITHER WAY LEAVE!

Code: (notes) [Select]
Title/Name: Mario the Marvelous and Mischievous, or 3M
Weapon: a good-quality club, and has 1x practice with it (add +1x if size increased)

[Medium difficulty:  1]

Your foot - only recently freed from the fence - becomes stuck in the gate, once more delaying you.

Go in and grab a stiff drink.. Seriously, this day.

You enter the bar and order a highly alcoholic drink. The bartender pours you a glass.

Work on my dance moves while I wait for my pizza delivery, trying to do a variety of exercises besides dabbing to make me seem more graceful and upbeat while not making me seem cringy and awkward in my dance skills

[Easy difficulty: 2+1]

Well, it’s perhaps less awkward than it was previously. At least you’re slowly putting the “dance” in “Fortnite dance”.

Wait until we've left the park, then get out.

As the ambulance pulls out of the park and begins to accelerate…

[Medium difficulty: 3]

You sit upright and unlock the rear door, causing it to fly open and you to fall out of the ambulance, your grip on the door being the only thing between you and an unpleasant situation.

The paramedics are surprised but not shocked. Emergency services personnel see a lot of crazy things.

Set my phone to audibly play a music-streaming site that plays the top-hits, utilize the rhythm and beats to help me concentrate on my dancing to train from the “default dancing” to a sort of hip-hop dance that has movement to make me look more impressive

[Easy difficulty: 2+1]

You have somehow invented a hip-hop Fortnite dance. It's an impressive achievement, but not a very good dance.

And then the pizza arrives. You have pizza now!

Beg for money

[Medium difficulty: 5]

Surprisingly enough, there are a fair amount of people out at night willing to give money to a beggar. You manage to bring in about $100.

Tuck and roll.

[Medium difficulty: 3]

You let go of the door just after the ambulance begins accelerating again. You fall onto the street, getting several scrapes. The ambulance is rapidly leaving your location.

You have escaped.

[Medium difficulty: 6]

You scramble up the gate and down the other side, the fence clattering as you do so.

You have escaped.

Continue training parkour.

[Easy difficulty: 3+1]

It goes about as well as the previous attempt, but better in that you avoid making a fool of yourself attempting to wallrun. Your practice should start paying off soon.

Watch the tv.

At this hour of the night, there’s nothing but soap operas and old B-movies on television.

Spoiler: Location/Players (click to show/hide)

And with everyone escaped, it is now time for...

Chapter 2, Attempt 1, Round 1: Graveyard

You are standing in a dimly lit shed at night. Normally this wouldn’t be completely out of the ordinary, but there are several baffling facts.
A: Peering out of the window, you see that you are in a dimly-lit graveyard, with only flashlight beams criss-crossing back and forth.
B: Are these the exact same people who were with you in the grassy meadow?
C: How did you even get here? The last thing you remember is dancing, or falling out of an ambulance, or watching television.
D: And why does the old man in a night watchman’s uniform facing away from you have a flashlight under his chin?

Ignoring you, the old man speaks.
“And to this day, the vampire still haunts this very forest, leaving his mausoleum every night.”
Suddenly, he whips his head around to look at you. It’s the same old man from the grassy meadow.
“What? What are you doing here? Oh. Oh, I see. Well. You shouldn’t be here. You ought to leave.
Now, I’m sure you have questions, but they don’t call me the Sane Old Man because I’m good at solving mysteries.
But I will explain that I was practicing a ghost story to tell my great-nephews.
Oh, and be careful of the night watchmen. They’re a little overzealous.”

Ask the old man if I can buy that flashlight off of him

[Medium difficulty: 1]

“How dare you?” the old man hisses, sounding more deranged than usual. "I wouldn't be safe without it! How dare you! Why, I ought to…" He stops speaking, looking out the front window at the approaching night watchmen.

Run out the door, scream loudly to distract the attention of the night watchmen to this location, then begin rapidly crouch-walking away from the shed.

[Easy difficulty: 3+1]

Two of the flashlight beams swing towards the shed and begin approaching.

[Medium difficulty: 6]

You crouch and begin moving away from the shed, cleverly avoiding the chest-height flashlight beams. Unfortunately, you appear to have wandered into an especially dark area of the graveyard, which might be a problem for seeing.

Leave the shed, looks for the closest object that could possibly be used as a weapon

[Medium difficulty: 5]

You leave the shed, wandering through the rows of gravestones. After almost tripping over something, you look down and find a crossbow just lying on the path. It even has a few bolts lying near it.

Look for a shovel or other digging implement.

[Easy difficulty: 4+1]

Hm, there isn’t one inside the shed... You step outside the back door to look for one, and there’s a shovel propped right outside the door.

Look around the shed and see what is inside.

Crates with various labels, most of them obscure plants and minerals, but others more mundane things. If you were to look for something in particular, there’s a possibility that it’d be here.

You look out the front window, and see two night watchmen approaching.

Check my phone signal and stealthily call for 911. I have been kidnapped for some reason.

[Easy difficulty: 5]

You call 911 and, in a whisper, explain that you have been kidnapped and you don’t know where you are. The operator tells you that they’ve traced your call (you’re in a forest a few dozen miles away from the city) and they’re sending a helicopter.

You look out the front window, and see two night watchmen approaching.

“I got a free pizza, and a crossbow to boot, maybe I could convince one of those night man to help me...”

Make sure the crossbow is loaded and look where this iron-wrought fence is, and than analyze how difficult it would to be climb

You load the crossbow. Be careful not to shoot yourself by accident.

[Medium difficulty: 5]

You head over to the fence, and when you get close enough to make details out in the dark, you see that there's a small gate in front of you. It's got a heavy-duty lock, but dealing with it will probably be easier than climbing the fence.

Strain my eyes until I become more accustomed to the darkness, then continue crawling away.

[Easy difficulty: 2+1]

Well, your eyesight is a little better now. Still not very good at medium distances, though.

[Medium difficulty: 2]

You keep crawling, but in the low light it's hard to tell which way is out, or whether you're retracing your steps.

You ought to what, punk? You think you're better than me?
Apply a rear naked choke on the old man, then take the flashlight from him and head out of the shed

[Medium difficulty: 2]

You lunge at the old man, but he steps back out of your reach. He grabs a walkie-talkie from his belt, and speaks into it. "Code Ibex Orange in the southwest shed."

Two night watchmen enter through the front door, their hands at their hips.

Sneak past the guards, knock out any that find me.

[Medium difficulty: 1]

You creep through the rows of gravestones, but suddenly a flashlight beam hits you. "Code Ibex Yellow in the due south section," a voice says quickly, and then louder, "Halt! Who are you?"

Opps, thought I posted an action.

You see a crate labelled “Crossbows”, and try to take the top off, but it seems that the crate has never been opened - you’d need a crowbar.

Two night watchmen enter through the front door, their hands at their hips.

Hide behind the Old Man. With a nearby tarp to cover my kneeling form.

[Easy difficulty: 1+1]

You quickly move so that the old man is between you and the door, but with no tarps in sight you just have to hope that the night watchmen don’t notice you due to everyone else. If you were to take a risk and run out the back door, they might not see you leave.

Apply boxing to the two night watchmen

[Hard difficulty: 3-1]

You charge at one of them, but he dodges, and the other one draws a taser from his belt and [Easy difficulty: 5+1] tazes both you and the other night watchman.

Take advantage while they are distracted to leave and find a secluded area to hide outside.

[Medium difficulty: 2]

You head to the back door and try to slowly open it, but then you have to hide behind a crate when one of the night watchmen draws a taser.

Focus on the shadows I can see on the ground left by the moon, and start navigating by those towards the wall of the cemetary.

[Medium difficulty: 5]

Using the moonlight and the direction of the shadows to guide you, you soon arrive at the tall wrought-iron fence of the graveyard.

Hit him with the shovel.
[Medium difficulty: 2]

You run towards the flashlight beam, but it backs up, and you hear the voice calling frantically “Code Ibex Orange! I say again, Code Ibex Orange in the due south section!”

Try to leave the shed without being caught. If caught: explain that I have no idea how I got here and am trying to leave.
If not caught: keep quite and in the shadows.

[Medium difficulty: 5]

You slip behind the two night watchmen while they’re distracted, and leave through the front door as the sound of a tazer shot echoes through the shed. You creep away from the shed, staying in the shadows.

Shoot the lock to damage its inner workings, and than use the musculature training to good use by kicking the lock until it falls off. Escape the place if the lock does fall off

[Medium difficulty: 3]

You shoot the lock, but the crossbow bolt simply bounces off after scratching the lock…

[Hard difficulty: 6-1]

…but when you deliver a powerful roundhouse kick to the lock, the shackle snaps, the padlock flies ten feet away at least, and the door slowly swings open.

You step outside, and decide to stick close to the fence for the time being, if nothing else to see what the others are doing.

You have escaped. Preparatory/training action?

Use my parkour skills to quickly slither over the top of the fence.

[Hard difficulty: 6-1]

Unfortunately for you, your below-average parkour skills are not very applicable to climbing. Fortunately for you, you manage to climb to the top of the fence anyway, and then getting down is much easier.

Your feet touch the ground, and decide to stick close to the fence for the time being, if nothing else to see what the others are doing.

You have escaped. Preparatory/training action?

Find the nearest exit and open it with my club(if needed) and then leave.

*Please find the gate that Shadowclaw opened*

[Medium difficulty: 5]

Sneaking through the moonlit graveyard, you arrive at the fence. Looking to your side, you see an open gate and a person bending down and picking something up. They then walk over to a tree and begin doing pullups.

You step through the gate and outside of the fence.

You have escaped.

Shake of that shocking sensation and try to make a run for it

[Hard difficulty: 2-1]

You continue spasming on the floor.

The tazed night watchman [Hard difficulty: 4-1] stands up and promptly sits back down, lying against a crate. The other night watchman looks worried, and glances at the old man. The old man sighs, saying “I’ll go get a first aid kit. You go get some rope from a crate.”

Take the lock, maybe it’s heavy enough to throw at someone’s head or make a loud sound. Look for a nearby tree with a low-hanging branch or something that I can do pull-ups on, perform exercises on that to improve my upper body strength

You walk over and pick up the lock.

[Easy difficulty: 3+1]

You find a tree matching those requirements, and begin doing pullups. You feel like you’d make some good progress if you kept going.

You notice another person step through the gate, carrying a club.

“Sorry, you startled me. I’m the gravedigger.”
Convince the guard I’m an employee, not a threat.

[Hard difficulty: 2-1]

“You are not wearing a uniform. I don’t recognize you. But most damning to your claim,” says a voice from a few feet behind you, “is the fact that there are no gravediggers working here. So if I were you I would raise my hands above my head and not make any funny moves.”

Look for tarp again to hide, then stay very still with it hanging off a crate covering me.

[Easy difficulty: 2+1]

You find a tarp inside a crate. You quickly hide behind a group of crates and drape the tarp over yourself. You doubt it’s a very good hiding spot, but you also doubt that the night watchmen will be searching the shed for you.

Spoiler: Location/Players (click to show/hide)

The rolls seem to have been a bit extreme this turn.

Start foaming at the mouth and act like a zombie, scaring the watchmen!

[Easy difficulty: 4+1]

You growl animalistically at the night watchmen, and you even manage to start foaming at the mouth.

The tazed night watchman [Hard difficulty: 6-1] stands up, opens the crate behind him, and passes a crossbow to the other night watchman and the old man, who load the crossbows with aghast looks on their faces. “He’s escaped,” one of the night watchmen says fearfully. “Or there’s someone breaking him out. Either way, terminate the thrall,” the old man says, and then into his radio, “Code Chainmail Blue, I want a team of two to get over to the mausoleum. You’re the only one who isn’t busy? Fine, meet me at the south inner gate.” The old man leaves, holding his crossbow at the ready. The two night watchmen raise their crossbows.

Work on my ability to see in the dark; try to develop night vision.

[Easy difficulty: 4+1]

You’re getting much better at seeing in the dark, a little more practice and the poor lighting of this graveyard won’t even bother you.

“Unfortunate.”
Shovel the watchman behind me, the the one in front.

[Easy difficulty: 2+1]

You pivot around and smack the shovel into the leg of the watchman behind you.

The watchman behind you [Easy difficulty: 4+1] pulls a trigger with a click, and you collapse to the ground as electricity crackles through your body. The watchman in front of you [Easy difficulty: 6+1] quickly advances, pulling out lengths of rope from a pouch on his belt, quickly tying your wrists and knees tightly together, and then ties your arms to your chest. “Our intruder’s secure,” one of the night watchmen says into a radio, “we’re taking him to the west shed.”

Continue doing pull-ups, even if start hurting, to gain those gains

[Easy difficulty: 3+1]

You keep doing pull-ups, and you notice that it’s getting easier. You’re noticeably stronger now.

Remain very still as I wait for that call for help to show results. No motion means I won't draw the eye.

You wait, but no sound is yet forthcoming but a man ordering a “termination”.

Do some stealth training.

[Medium difficulty: 2]

It’s dark. Too dark, in fact, for you to tell precisely whether doing something makes you stealthier, considering that you already have trouble seeing yourself.

Now make a run for it!

[Hard difficulty: 1-1]

You rise to your feet unsteadily, eyes unfocused, mouth hanging open, arms raised in front of you.

The night watchmen could perhaps be forgiven for misinterpreting your semiconscious behavior and opening fire. [Easy difficulty: 5+1] [Easy difficulty: 3+1] Both crossbow bolts hit you, one of them grazing the other night watchman. You note that the friendly fire watchman was the same as with the tasers.

Remain very still as I wait for that call for help to show results. No motion means I won't draw the eye.
Also silent. Listen.

You hear a moan, and then almost immediately after, two crossbows firing. It has only been a few minutes, perhaps even only one or two, since you made the call. How fast are helicopters? How far away is this place from the nearest police station?

Guess I'll just keep on developing my night vision.

[Easy difficulty: 1+1]

You try squinting your eyes, but it turns out that doing so temporarily reduces night vision due to the location of rod and cone cells in the eye.

Time to strain the muscles some more with one-armed pull-ups and try doing it upside down, to make my arms hurt and make those gains

[Easy difficulty: 2+1]

You can barely do one-armed pull-ups, and you don’t have anywhere near the dexterity to do pull-ups upside down. At the moment, you’ve made little progress.

Lets see what this “west shed” is.

As you discover when you are dragged there, the “west shed” is a shed full of crates, much like the one you were in earlier.

yell "MEDIC!" repeatedly

[Medium difficulty: 2]

You try to yell “MEDIC!”, but it comes out sort of inarticulate. One of the crossbow bolts must have hit you in the lungs.

It is arguable that the night watchmen were not overreacting. [Easy difficulty: 4+1] [Easy difficulty: 1+1] One of the crossbow bolts hits you, while the other punches through the wall of the shed behind you.

You wriggle around in the ropes, but no luck - they’re really tight.

Get off the tree, attempt to use the crossbow or the hefty lock to attempt to bicep curls to make those muscles grow.

[Easy difficulty: 6+1]

Hmm. Should you use the crossbow, or the heavy lock? Wait. Why not both?! You begin doing bicep curls, and after about the hundredth one, you realize that you’ve gotten a lot stronger. You might need something heavier to lift if you want to keep training.

Continue to listen silently.

You hear an inarticulate yell, and then two crossbows firing again. If you made a run for it, would you be stopped?
