My Dark Apostle is basically finished. His base is drying as I type, so he'll be mounted soon. I intend to add some chains or something to his shoulders though. It's not really visible at this angle but both his shoulders have some gnarlyness from where I was cutting and gluing his arms. The Crozius one needed tons of adjusting to fit and I wound up slicing bits off after painting it.

Wait, isn't it canon that humans, back when they were still literal mon keigh, were tampered with specifically to make the Universe more harvestable? Granted this was oldcron pariah fluff, and they were talking about soul harvesting and not so much biomass harvesting, but it's a similar principle

And we all know the true masters of the 40k universe are rats

40k rats > ripper swarms
40k rats > baneblades
40k rats > demons

How many rats do you think scurry around the golden throne? I bet there's one snoopin around the Emperor's eye sockets, he shall be the golden rat

Gorgeous. Did you free-hand the Khorne Emblems on those skulls or are they raised up for you to paint on?

The middle skull has a shallow Khorne icon groove in it's surface, the others are just smooth skulls. A mix of drybrushing and washing gave  me a reasonably defined icon on the skull.

I like using the AoS Khorne guys to make characters because of the semi-armoured look. They look like something off an old metal album cover.  :D

EDIT: I'm rethinking my Rough Riders ideas. Bretonnians are impossible to get in any number now, so I'm thinking of doing a chaos version instead.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This also has the advantage of being far easier to do, which will save me a lot of time across 98 or so conversions.

EDIT2: In a moment of boredom I decided to write some homebrew rules for a Renegades and Heretics version of Death Korps Death Riders. http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=20785722&postcount=113

Ok I have to ask.

Is the excuse the games make as to why there are no female space marines as BS as I remember?

Last I remembered it, it requires some sort of hormone therapy that females couldn't go through (because their bodies couldn't take it).

I know the real reason mind you (so they wouldn't have to make female models), but I am just wondering the official reason.

Space Marines are watered down Primarchs, who are watered down Emperors, and the Emperor is male.

Yes... but why even invent an excuse?

Heck if they look exactly the same why not just say that Space Marines can be male or female? Or even just say their armor is co-ed?

I am mostly trying to remember the excuse they made in the first place.
