No creativity from me today.  Celosia will go explore the bookshelves area that's lit by firelight.

Also, can he understand the bird's squawking?

Celosia withdraws from the arch, moving to the far side of the room and watching it with suspicion.  After a few moments, he sits back down and licks the paw he accidentally shoved through the arch, ensuring that it's fine.

With that done, he takes a deep breath, and begins to ring his bell again.  This time, he tries to focus on... being smaller.  Like a little mouse, able to run through a mousehole.  If he successfully shrinks, he'll cautiously step through the archway without making a noise, and then walk away from his door (and anyone he might see outside, trying to quietly make some distance on them, ideally also finding a place to hide.)

Yeah, screw it, continue to sit and wait.  Look non-hostile, but do dodge if attacked, and only then counterattack.

Celosia sits very still as the room shrinks around him, his claws unconsciously coming out to grip the rug.  After the growth stops, one of his ears flick as he slowly looks around, confirming that everything now seems to be tiny.  This was unexpected.

Slowly, Celosia raises a forepaw to his face, and nips his dewclaw.  Close enough to the base to hurt.  This must be a dream, right?

Assuming it achieves nothing, he hisses in pain, shaking his paw and mentally scolding himself for trying that.  Then, carefully minding the fire, he lays down and tries to kick the arch and the wall with his back legs.  Hoping his larger size will let him damage whatever building he's locked inside.  Celosia isn't used to being big!  Maybe it'll mean he's strong enough to achieve something.

Celosia sits in front of the bookshelf, staring at the rigidly attached books.  His tailtips flick in annoyance.

"...I don't appreciate this theatre.  Could I please have an explanation?" he says, not really expecting a response.

After several long seconds of silence, Celosia walks to the corner of the room to the right of the arch, picking out the book furthest from the arch and lowest to the ground.  He tries to claw at the back of the book, only intending to mark it.  Whether or not the book resists this defacement, he'll sit down in that corner and turn to face the fireplace, then ring his bell repeatedly with a paw.

Celosia

Hold still at first, while taking in the environment.  Stare at the arch; books surround it, but what is inside?  More books, a plain wall, a door or a passage?

After checking that... leap to the top of one of the bookshelves, hiding between it and the ceiling.  Then groom my entire body, especially my tail... tails.  Make sure everything is good and healthy.

Once groomed, take a deep breath, and sniff the air.  Check for strange scents.  Signs of whoever put me here.

And if the turn runs long enough without anything notable happening, reach down and pull a book out of the bookshelf, letting it fall to the floor.


((I foresee some fun interactions between my character and Celosia. Although, being slow to come up with anything, I'm still not sure just how much of a monster she is supposed to be myself.

"Right then, I expected it to prioritize the crate's safety.  Time to be brave, gnome."

Obtain head, seat it properly.  Obtain gnome, huck it at the robot as hard as possible.  Obtain greatsword, charge the robot with greatsword (and try to dodge missiles).

Continue hiding in cover.  Be prepared to grab head and jump out to rush the bot if these missiles are more lethal than expected, but don't do so yet.

"Interesting.  Proper weaponry would harm the crates.  Its usable armament is limited.  It might become significantly more lethal if we leave cover.  Are any of you capable of fighting at a range?  I doubt it's likely to give up."
