Title: From an age undreamed of (SG) Breaking the law
Post by: Funk on April 17, 2016, 08:12:04 am
"Between the time when the Titanomachy fell and rise of the Etruscans, there was an age undreamed of.

A time when the axe ruled the land, An age of mighty kingdoms, forged from blood and steel.
 with a blade in hand.

Unto this age of darkness and blood shed, came many mighty king and warriors.."

You where but a new born baby when bandits killed your mother and left you alone to die by the roads side.
But you where lucky, a pasting sheep farmer found you and ever since you have been raise by your adoptive parents.

You where found under the sign of the:

The Wolf
You grow up to be built like the wolf tall, agile and strong.

The Bear
You grow to be built like a bear, far larger than normal men, standing near to seven feet tall with an impressive physique.

The Hark
You grow up to be fast and agile with long powerful legs.
----------------

The day started much like any other with you heading out early to top pasture with the sheep.

The dawn brakes and across the valley you see a banner rising above the fields, a clenched red fist on a black background.
Below it comes a horde of riders and men at arms, all marching towards the village with evil in there eyes.

Screams crack the dawn as men dies cut down like dogs as women are stolen, homes burns and village is plundered.

As you rush back to the village, you can see smoke rising from the far side of your family's barn and a trail of blood on the door.

You fathers barely stands facing the door way, half propping self with the wall.
One hand on his belly by a large arrow and the other around the haft of a blooded hatchet.

" Thank gods!, you're still alive, i thought the slavers had you.
-Ughk- This is where we part ways, your mothers gone, an i'll be with her soon.
-he cough and spits a mouth full blood on the floor-
I never told her but your mother, your true mother, she left you a gift, made me swear that i'd wait until you where old enough.
-yet more coughing-
Funny i want leave here until she came, dieing from bandits with you in her arms.
A baby still at the teat and all alone in the world, that was it.. she made me stay.
- he grimaces in pain.-
She said that your father might come looking for you...

The gift, i buried it, up the hill, the gate post to the bull pen it's under there.
take any thing you want from here cause the flames will have it before you get back.

Well you go get it, i have to find your mother.
And you always remember, no matter where or what happens that you go that you where my child."

As you father passes away you leave the burning barn and your old life behind.

We were found under the sign of the wolf
Description: Cataline is taller than average at about 6'2 and with powerful arms and legs, he is aggressive and always moving, though affable in company he likes.
We are named Cataline Africanus Lupus
we are male
we have our treasure be a weapon. A wolf has teeth not a tough hide. If we are supposed to choose a weapon it will be a bastard or hand and a half sword. At the very least something versatile.

Sign of The Hark

Name : Queston
Description : We are fast and agile. The observant, keen, or peculiar often note our muscled calves, large quadriceps, and long powerful legs. Although we enjoy talking and spending time with others, many would describe us as shy. We possess an intrinsic drive that compels us to be compassionate.
Gender: Male
Treasure: Armour

As your home and the remains of your past life burn away, you dig deep until you find the promised gift.
You pull the dirty half rotted box from the earth.

Levering it open you pull out a large bundle of oily rags.

Pulling away the covering rags, you find a large two handed axe.

You pick it up and trace your finger down the twin blades, feeling the razor sharpness from the horns at the top to the long beards at the bottom.
It feels different in your hands, it's clear that it's no mere woodsman axe but a mighty tool of war built to split skulls and fell men.

There are a few more items in the box, a small bronze figurine of a nude female figure with horns holding a large sword, a copper cloak pin, and small purse of coins.

You put every thing in your pack and head off towards:

A) The trail of the raiders.
Your on your own, on foot and out numbered but maybe you can do something to get revenge.
Maybe you can get a head of  the raiders and raise the village militia?

B) The city.
Home to the local guard, markets and any passing travellers.
If any one is going after the raiders this is where they'll start.
It's all so the the best place for you to buy anything, try to get a job or find some one to join you for an adventure.

Your no great tracker ether but there trail is careless and fresh.
You keep close to the raiders staying at a distance, just out of sight of them.

As you follow the trail, you start to notice that a set of hoof prints doesn't fit it looks like some one else is following the raider band.

The twilight comes and band stops to make camp for the night.
You climb a nearby tree to get a better look of the camp.

There no plan to there camp, just two dozen men cooking fire in the darkness with there horses grazing beside them.
Sat out in the cold are there prisoner, a dozen men and woman all chained togeater.

As you wait for the raiders to fall asleep, you spy a figure standing there:

A: A wild Askuzai horse woman crouching in the branches of a trees with a cross bow at the ready.

B:
A lone Sabine officer watching the camp as he slowly sharpens his curved kopis.

C:
No one at all, must of been a trick of the light.

A, A wild Askuzai horse woman crouching in the branches of a trees with a cross bow at the ready.

At first you thought it a trick of the light but now as moon shines down from a gap in the clouds, you can see her clearly standing in the tree branches.

Slowly you approach the woman, then -snap-, you tread on a stick.

In a blink she turns and levels the crossbow at you.
You halt as she stares at you before lowing her weapon.
"You aren't one of the bandits, Who are you? What are you doing here?" she whispers.

"I am Bekir.
I have come for revenge, now stand aside and let my axe taste blood tonight." you reply

With out a sound, she drops down from the tree her cloak billowing behind her.

She walks towards you slowly keep the cross bow ready at all times.

She is wearing a dirty linen shirt, and a pair of close-fitting deer skin pants with laces running up the side of each leg.

But it's her boots that you notice the most, there shaped to resemble horse hooves with a raised platform for her toes.
It least now you know what was up with the tails.

"Shyshel, Once Daughter of Maylara.
I to am here for revenge, as are you.
That makes friends for tonight, you have come alone?" she asks you

"Just me, do you have a plan?" you ask her point towards the camp.

"No plan, just wait and then.." She pulls a large hunting knife from her belt "..like a pig."

You sit in the tree beside Shyshel, waiting for the raiders to fall sleep.
The wait does at least let you get a better look at Shyshel.

She has a long plat of ungroomed ivory blond hair that hangs down to her ankles, and deep smouldering blue eyes.
Once she might of been considered attractive but now there's a large jagged scar that cuts across her left cheek and twists her lip.

You wait in the tree for at lest two hours until the camp at last falls silent.
Slowly you walk towards camp holding you're axe at the ready.
No one raider or prisoner is awake and all you can hear is there snores and your own foot steps.

You raise your axe high before smashing it down on.

A) The bandit chiefs
B) the chain hold prisoners.

The chiefs.  We're here for revenge, we'll deal with heroism later.

You stand over the bandit chef and slow you raise your axe for the kill.
Slamming the mighty blade down, the loud crack of splintering wood echoes and your blood runs cold.

You glance around the darkness looking for the ambushers that are surely moments away from you.
You are almost relived to see the chief crawl out from under his cloak, mouth a gasp in pain.
Wasteing no time you strike, hacking open his ribs with repeated savage blows.

"Die! Die knees like the dog you!" you shout exuberantly.

A woman leaps up from her sleep, wielding a long knife in each hand.
Screaming a warcry, she runs towards you slashing wildly with here knifes.

You parry one blade and she cuts you forearm open with the other.
By now she's so close that you can smell the stink of her breath.
You sweep her leg, knocking her to the ground, before delivering coup de grace to there head.

By now the rest of the bandits are up on there feet with blades drawn.
Wary you and your bloody axe they stand on the other side of fire.

"She just a woman! Slay the wore!" shouts a large beaded man.
A crossbow bolt flashes from the darkness and sinks into the bearded man's shoulder.
The bandits waver now that you are clearly not alone.

"Come on! fight me! you cowards!" you shout back at them as Shyshel steps in to the light beside you.
They come slowly now, unwilling to face the god this day.
A pair steps forwards, two men one with a shield and large dagger, the other behind him with a long spear.

Shyshel fire her crossbow again to no effect at the bolt  -thunk- in to the shield.
The spear man trusts and you jumps back to narrow avoid impalement.

With a shout, Shyshel leaps at the first man, the suddenness of her attack takes the man by surprise and her boot shatters shield, and knocks him to ground.

You waste no time grabbing the spear shaft and hacking it in half, the man turns flee like coward he is before you split him from crown collar bone.

As the man falls you turn to Shyshel, both her and the raider are grappling desperately, the man lays on top trying to force the blade down as Shyshel wildly claws at his face with her free hand.
You pull the man off her, holding his knife arm back in your powerful grasp as Shyshel plunges her own into his chest.
You turn to find that the sight of you towering over the mangled trio, with blood spattered axe in hand is enough for remaining bandits to take flight.

As you come down from the adrenalin high of combat, you start to feel as your injures start to hurt.
You scavenge the bodys of the dead and collect find coin and goods you find.

A) Free the prisoner and return to town in order to collect the bounty's on the bandits.

B) Continue on the path of the bandits, north and sell the prisoners as slaves

A Free the prisoners

You cut the bonds of the prisoners and tell them to get ready for travel back to town.

You see Shyshel and something you had thought it was a myth, but as Shyshel  stands there talking in the horse's ear as it horse nays back to her, the tales of Askuzai horse wishers start to seem far less fantastical than before.

You lash the dead bandits to the spare horses and head off towards town.
Shyshel rides along side you bareback and stirrup lees.

"Bekir, the road ahead is long do you mind if i ask you, what was it drove you to seek your revenge last night?" she asks you.
You fill her in on the death of your parents and events of yesterday.
"Avenged be for the next daybreak, you do them much honour with your swiftness.
So what will you do now?" she asks you.

"I have no idea, my home is ash and all that tied me to it is gone,
Perhaps i will look for my father."
"Eh? you said that your father was killed?"
"It's a long story.."
"The road is long, so please tell me..."

--------------
Later as the sun rise, you reach the town of Munstandel.

The town magistrate looks tired as you collect the bounty's on the slain bandits.
With a large purse of coins on your belt, you find some lodgings at the Inn and quickly fall asleep.

The midday bell's rudely awakes you from your slumber and you decide to:

I love this, it's like a mashup of Xena Warrior Princess and Conan Da Barbarian.

Training is the best idea, we're not actually a skilled warrior yet, let's rectify that.

You decide to find some one to help train in the arts of war.
A long night is spent drinking in the bar, looking for a instructor.

After you crack a few head for there insults, an ageing one eyed warrior inductances himself as Borzak the Gray.

"So you want to become a mighty warrior, don't they all.
Well i can't teach you the deadly art of the Themiscyrain war-dancer or raging power and furry of Codanovian bear warrior.
but the basics of every fighter the spear the axe, the sword and the shield that i can do.
if you have the coin then i will train you and your friend."
You agree to have him be your instructor, and drink long in to the night with him listening to his tales of days gone by...

You awake late next morning, and quickly rush off to find Shyshel in time to start training.
Shyshel is asleep when you find her, you try to shake her awake but she just groans under the sheets.

You don't take no for an answer, so you grab a jug of war and pull the sheets off her.
You splash water over Shyshel the barmaid and the stable boy, drenching all three's naked body's.
"Shyshel get up, come on we're both late already." you tell her as she ring out her wet hair.

The training is simple, just a mix of near endless drills and sparring as slowly you become a practised fighter.

You tired at the end of the first day when Shyshel arrives with your horse.

"Now that Borzak is finished, you can learn to ride."
"But i can ride fine." you confused by her actions.

"You call that riding!? you don't ride at all.
Sit in the seat thing and lead the horse like it's blind a man Yes.
But rideing is what i will teach you." she insists, passing you the reins.

You spend the hours until nightfall in saddle rideing cross country.

And that is the patten for the next two weeks, the days spent training and rideing with the nights spent on drink and song.
By the time you finish you haven't learnt any skills but your much better at fighting over all.

The daybreaks and you find your purse empty of coin, and that means that your are out of mead, meat or ale.
You chew over a mouth full of thick-cut bacon and ponder what to do about your lack of money.

You have heard that fighting has broken out between the kings of the Cassiterides and the Vaalbara tribes men on the boarders.
The weaker cassiterides are hungry for sell sword's to fill there ranks.

but you have also heard of a man, Udin that seeks brave men to join him on a voyage to Ocia.
Traders say that the coast of Ocia is littered with stone pyramids, surely be some wealth with in them.

Mercenary work is reliable work, let's go with that.

It is said that Endless money forms the sinews of war, and you plan to fill your purse with gold.
If the Cassiterides king seek a blade's for hire then why not your axe?

After gathering your things, you set off with Shyshel by your side, on the way to the Cassiterides.
Rideing westward in warm spring days, you make good time on the journey.

At last after a week of rideing, the great Cassiteride stronghold called "the Wolf Pillars" rises in to view.
Well the locals call it a stronghold, but in truth it's little more than three signal towers and wooden fence between them.
Still this is where king Marchan has planted his banner, it here that you've come to enlist in his army.

You stable your horses and enter the wooden long house at the centre of the keep.
Inside the dark and smokey hall, there are dozen armed men and women.
It's the strange mix of people you have ever seen, killers and sell sword drawn from all four corners of world.
Fur covered Codanovian wild men sit next to Sabines in mail and silk.

You find a place for your self by the table and sevent places a warm bowl of stew and a lump of bread in front you.
Both hungy you eat you fill as you wait for a messenger to arrive.

To pass the time you play dice and soon you are good friends with:
A) a Volscian Warrior Maiden, covered in the marks of ritual scarification and tattooing.
B) a beard Codanovian axe thrower.
C) a massive Salassi hammer man.
D) Sleep, you're far to tired for dice.

Finally the king's messenger arrives and he start to organize the gathered mercenary's.

You find your self assigned to:
A) The Feet, you're in the light cavalry.
B) The Body, you're in the infantry.
C) The Fist, you're part of the chosen heavy infantry.
C) The bodyguard of the kings younger sister.

Outside in the muddy yard, you keep talking with your new friend Zinmegur.
He's a huge Salassi tribes man, nearly as tall your self but heavy set with a full belly.
Zinmegur wipes some of the stew from his long mustache.
"um this is the bit where we get told what we're doing, so try to look mean." he winks as he puffs his chest out.

A clerk starts calling for the assembled mercenary's to form lines according to there skills.
He takes you name and skills down and pass you a large bronze disc with a number on it.
"You with captain Cairist́ona, Keep that disc or you don't get paid, Next!"

There's more waiting until finally a dozen chariots clatter in the yard and you get to meet you're captain.

A woman in a vest of bronze scales steps off one of the chariots.
You immediately notice her long single braid of cinnamon hair and sky blue eyes.
With an angry look on her face she walks over to to you, with one hand on the hilt of her long sword and her armour rattling she approaches.

"YOU LOT LISTEN UP!!
I am Captain Cairist́ona, your under my command!
Now falling to line.
" she shouts over the chattering of the assembled mercenarys.

You soon find your self back on the road, marching eastwards, up in the wooded hills of the Cassiterides.

Finally when you can see the barren moorlands of Vaalbara in the distance, the march stops at a small tin mine.

Your Captain orders for you to:
A) Build a picket fence and guard the mine?
B) Get ready to Guard the ore shipment?
C) Get ready to march in to Vaalbara?

C, sounds the most exciting

You march in to Vaalbara, across the barren moors and in to rugged valleys of Vaalbara.
For the first day, you across the empty wilderness of the boarder moors, there seem to be nothing, no roads, no crops nothing but sheep and rain.

It the second day, with the sun is high in sky when you reach the valleys of Vaalbara proper.
It's like nothing you have ever seen before, a dark primal mass of forest trees grow untouched by the axe or flame.

Faced with this Captain Cairist́ona give the order for riders to be sent out to scout the land ahead.
Among the riders is Shyshel, but you are left to dull tasks of setting camp.
It's later that night when you see your first Vaalbaran.

There's a low mist hanging on the ground as you return to the camp from relieving your self.
As you turn back to camp, you see him watching you.

He's small, almost like a child in size, with skin as pale as the moon, and hair black as midnight.
Naked but for a lion cloth and a belt of daggers around his waist, stares at you with hate filled eyes.
As you raise your axe, he disappears in to the tree line, darting from tree to tree as he fades away in the mist.

Scouting
At least the safely of the camp guards let you sleep some what soundly.
The dawn brings the return of the scouts and your first chance of plunder.

The first scout brings back new of some local strong man's house, a small wooden hold/ watch tower five miles to the north.
If the Vaalbarans have any thing worth taking there probably keeping it here.

The second scout is panicked and scared, he tells your of a large party of Vaalbarans, gathering by large menhir circle to east.
It's clearly the start of a war party.

Shyshel returns last, looking like she's been riding all night, she crams food in to her moth as gives her report.
She tell you  a some kind of temple built in to a natural cave system, to the west.
She swears that she saw one of priests wearing a strange face mask of gold during some kind of ritual.

In the drawn light you can see the Menhir's circle, the white stones shining in the sun as they stand alone on the hill top.

You move quietly, sneaking up the hill's wooded side, moving slowly through the undergrowth.
Every sound you make seems to echo, the squeaking of leather, jingling of chainmail it seems to be almost deafening.

All of a sudden a horn sound from the circle and drums beat as Vaalbarans rush to meet you.

You can see dozens of them, paint figures dashing down the hill to wards you, hurling javelins and wardarts as they come.
Ducking behind a friendly shield, you clutch your axe in both hands and wait for battle as your heart races in your chest.

"Forward! Attack!" Captain Cairist́ona shouts walking forwards as arrows skip off her scale vest.
As the missiles stop you dash forwards
you meet the first Vaalbaran with a sling of your axe, hacking through his arm and shield.
A javelins whistles past your shoulder as meet the next one.
A woman her naked body covered with strips of war-paint.
Her clumsy thrust miss and you smash the spear in half.
Before you can splinter her skull, she turns and flees from you.

With a wild shout, a large fat man runs at you, holding a great club, studded with crude spikes of bone.
Spit fly from his unkempt grey beard as he forces you back with wild swings that threat to knock from your feet.

The mercenary beside you is impaled by a blow as the spikes punchers in to his belly.
The club man flicks the mangled remains of the mercenary to the floor, but for an arrow dig is way in to his shoulder.

Another long deep blast from the horn sounds and wood splinters on steel as you clash bladed with him.
He raises his club up over his head and cheat, grabbing the handle and his throat with your power full arms.
You lean forwards forcing him to his knees an then backwards as you bend his spine back.
His eyes roll back and then you slam his head in the ground until it cracks.
You see that the Vaalbarans are move back in the trees, still hurling javelins and shouting as they retreat.

With the battle over fore now you get on with the task of looting as much wealth as you can...

You pocket afew of amulets of blue amber, semi-precious stones and carved ivory.
You sit by the smouldering remains of the Vaalbaran camp fire counting out your loot with your companions, when you get your next order...

A few miles to the north east is the house of some local strong man, a small wooden hold/ watch tower
If the Vaalbarans have any thing worth taking there probably keeping it here.

A days ride to the west is some kind of temple cave, apparently home to a priest in a gold face mask.

To the east is Cassiteride lands and safety.
To the west is a fleeing mob of Vaalbarans.

Shouldn't there be less than 17 other mercenaries in the Captain Cairist́ona forces spoiler? Didn't a mercenary get killed by the large fat man?

Shouldn't there be less than 17 other mercenaries in the Captain Cairist́ona forces spoiler? Didn't a mercenary get killed by the large fat man?
(Im forgetful at up dating the spoilers.)
North East.  To plunder!

It takes you a few hours to cross the wild untamed woodland and reach the reported watch tower.
In the low light of the setting sun, you see it, just like the scout said it's barely a building by any real sense of the word, just a mass of rough worked timber in the shape of tower.

A crude picket fence keeps the few goats and sheep from wandering away.
The fence falls before your axe and tower's door shatters under Zinmegur's hammer.

With the fortress broken, the mercenary rush in to tower in a storm of looting and pillaging.

In the rush to loot the place, you manage to find :
A new pair of mid calf length boots made from fine black leather to replace your own.
A pouch of full of hack silver, amber and Jewellery.

As the night close in you can hear distant drums and war horns mix in with the lamentation of women and crackling of the burning tower.

It's a few hours before dawn when a hand shakes awake.
Shyshel and Zinmegur stand over you both dressed and ready for travel.
"If we want to get that gold, we have to leave tonight, Cairist́ona is headed back to the Wolf Pillars with the men."

1) slip away in the night after the gold.
2) head back to the Wolf Pillars

1. let's make some real money

"They say that the god favour the bold and madmen for they entertain."
It's still dark when slip away westward in to the trees.

S sets a punishing pace and by noon the burnt remains of tower are far in distance.
Finally you crest a hill with the sun blazing above you as S halts the march
"There, in the rock" she points to a large rent in a distant cliff face.

After moveing closer, you can see a few figures in a clearing at the front of the cave.
There's seven of them, in all, six of them are clearly chosen warriors for there girdles are stuffed with daggers and savage bone spiked clubs are keep at hand.
Each one is pierced with dozens of pieces of long smooth bone, covering there body's like the quills of some monster.

But the seventh is different, she wear nothing, naked but a fur cloak and shining golden mask.

The mask, what a sight to be hold, it's a massive thing not only covering her face but dozens of long gold quills that hang from it, pokeing from her hair.

Such a treasure could make one a rich indeed, but to start need to take it.

"Such wealth and so few to guard it, we wait till nightfall before we move"
Zinmegur grasps his great war hammer in both his massive hands.

"To hell with that! we have to move now"
Saddle our horses! take it at sword point!
Now! Before any more come." Shyshel states firmly as she cocks her crossbow.

1) Wait till nightfall
2) Attack now
3) Some thing cleaver?

3. Have Shysel attack them with her crossbow from one direction, drawing as many of them away as possible.  Zinmegur and Bekir can sneak from another direction and shaft them from behind.

"No we have to get guards away from her, Shyselyou use your crossbow try to draw them away from the cave, tire them out.
Then we will attack from rear."
There nods of agreement from Shysel as she throws her cloak back, her horse snorts loudly and she's off.
You both rush thou the undergrowth, hurrying to get around behind priest and her guards.

Another loud snorts from Shysel's horse and bellowing shout let you know that's shes started her attack.
You run as intermittent thundering hoof beats and yells tell you of her every attack.

Suddenly Shysel screams and you burst out of the under growth as her horse trashes wildly in a heap.

You glance at a trio of the spiked club men are rushing toward Shysel as she staggers to her feet next to the fallen horse.

One of spike covered men stand by the priestess, the others lie bleeding as her feet.

You charge at the priestess, swinging your at her guard, he steps back before your axe cleaves in to head.

There's a resounding crack of bone as Zinmegur's hammer smashes in to the priestess chest, knocking her to the ground.

The guard takes a wild two handed swing at you, you drop under the spiked club and bring your axe up in to his groin.

The axeblade bites in deep as purple mass of his guts falls from his belly.
Neither of you stop to take the mask , instead you rush on to help Shysel.

You quickly close the distance on one of spike covered guards and painfully you tackle her to the ground.

Her body being pierce with hundreds of sharp bones give her a kinds of inhuman armour, and you land painfully on top of her the sharp bones prickling you.

She slams her fist at your shoulder as you grab her left arm, ignoring the pain get a strong grip as you twist it forcefully
until her elbow join snaps with a loud crack.
She squirms and rakes her arm down the side your neck, the spikes sawing open a jagged gash.

As she rakes at your neck, you jam a finger up her nose and pull it out savagely ripping her nostril open.
You raise your fist but the woman grabs your hand stopping you.
She try's to snap finger by bending it backward, but you stand back up and pull her up right.
With both hands you lift her up over your head and throw her back in to the ground.
You pick up your axe, as the woman just lies there, coughing up blood, her body pieced tru by the bones she wore.

A dirtier but unharmed Shysel walks over to you as Zinmegur removes the gold mask from it's former owner.

"This is solid, it must be worth a fortune." Zinmegur sates as he cut the mask free.
He gives, you the mask and a dozen quills of gold, there ends still coved in matted hair.

"How do we get to spend it? we're three days march from Cassiteride lands and safety.
My hose can't stand let alone carry me." Shysel points to the spiked club in her horses leg.

"We take turns and pray to what ever god you hold the horse are strong enough..." Shysel

For the next three days you take turns to sleep in saddle as you walk back towards the Cassiterides.
Every night you can hear the beat of war drums echo on the wind.

Finally as the last horse fall to the ground from exhaustion your back and safe.

"Well now we have a choice to make,
Now we could return to the Captain Cairist́ona, explain our absence and rejoin the army in time for what ever comes next."
"what and face that lot? not while i've gold to spend!" Zinmegur chuckles at the idea.
"Or we go get drunk.."
--------------

1) Rejoin the army.
2) Head to the nearest VILLAGE for drink and trade.
4) Head to the CITY for drink and trade, many more shops.

A NOTE ON TRADERS

To save me having to type up a massive list of most useless items and prices, just list the type of items your after, I.E. a helmet, some throwing weapons or horse armour.

The City!  Drink and be merry!  Before all that, buy:

1. More protective armour
2. Horses for the three of us
3. A dagger
4. Food and provisions for the road.

You spend an uneventfull week on the road till you reach the city.

The first thing you do is share out the loot, dividing it up as you assign every one there tasks.

You quickly find dozens of daggers for sale and settle doubled edged dagger with blade as long as your hand from wrist to finger tip.

Shysel soon returns from the animal traders, atop a chestnut coloured pony with shaggy mane.
With is a pair of horses , a pale white pony for you and a gray palfrey for Zinmegur .
Soon you both catch up with Zinmegur who has had no trouble in buying the provisions for the party.

Now that you are all together you head to the market in search of more protective armour.
Your inn luck as you find the market full of armour as traders are drawn from far and wide by the on war.

You have no trouble in buying a conical bronze helmet and a bronze scale cuirass each.
You and Zinmegur each get a pair scale shoulder guards, while Shysel takes a bronze chanfron with a pair of long curving horns for her horse.

With the shopping done you turn freely to drink, song and merriment...

It's days later when your sleep is interrupted one morning by:
1) A stern look from last night's woman, she wants paying and your purse is empty
1B) A stern look from last night's man, he wants paying and your purse is empty

2) "I see you can brought me a little gift to pay for your time away..." you look up to see an angry looking Captain Cairist́ona, with a iron headed spear in one hand the golden mask in another.

3) "It time to get up you have work to do..." you throw the driping wet covers aside to see a bored looking Captain Cairist́ona with now empty bucket of water in hand, and a pair of guardsmen with her.

4) A wild Codanovian axeman ranting some insult and a duel tomorrow morning.

Hm...TRY and talk her out of it.  If she's not listening, at least say something to distract her so that we can get the spear away from her.

"Wait!, Can't we talk about this?" you ask as you slowly roll out of bed.
"What's there to talk about, you're a deserter but am willing to forget then in return for this little gift.
Keep your hand away from that axe." she points at your axe by your bed side.

You stand up strait, pushing your chest out, "Don't you think we won that, it's ours by right."
"By right?, by right your all deserter, you should hang.
But i'd be a fool to try that, a giant like you, i'd be torn apart.
I'll let you keep an eighth." Cairist́ona shakes her head
"Two eighths."
"One eighth now, an second if you rejoin the army."
She throws a few of the gold quills to the floor.

As she turn to leap forwards and throw you entire weight behind a punch straight in to her guts.
She bends overs double, gasping for breath as the spear and the mask clatters to the floor.
You waste no time in grabbing the mask and pauseing only to collect your axe from your bed side you drop out the window.

The streets below are still crowd with the mid morning shoppers in to which you quickly mingle.
Your barely around the corner when you hear Cairist́ona horsely shout for the guards....
