Hey, Bay 12. It's been a while, hasn't it?

I apologize to everyone I might have inconvenienced with my random disappearance.

To make it up to you, I'm back with a brand new game...

Long ago, the world belonged to humans. Those days vanished, however, when the Titans came.

The origins of the Titans remain shrouded in mystery. All we know is that their rise was sudden and brutal, and soon, they were everywhere. Massive and all but indestructible, the Titans sought nothing but to eat humans.

And eat they did - before long, humans had been pushed to the brink of extinction. Now this world belongs to the Titans.

All that remains of humanity lives in a single nation, surrounded by three enormous walls. The world beyond the walls is a dangerous one, full of ravenous Titans that seek nothing more than to consume human flesh. Behind the walls, humanity is safe - but all it would take is a single breach to plunge humanity into chaos once more.

If the first wall were to break, half of humanity’s territory would be lost. If the second were to break, what little remained would not be able to support even its own population, let alone the refugees from outside.

If the third wall broke, then every last human would surely be devoured.

You have just graduated from the military training corps, and been trained in the dangerous craft of fighting Titans.

People like you patrol the walls, keep the peace, and go on expeditions beyond the walls to unearth resources and information.

You do not know the true horror of battle between man and Titan.

But you will.

Welcome to TITAN WORLD.

So, what exactly is this?

This is a tabletop RPG based off of the popular manga/anime series Attack On Titan.

Titan World takes place in an AU where the main characters do not exist. The fall of Shiganshina has not happened.

But it could. Which is why you must be diligent.

Oh, yeah. Spoilers. Lots of spoilers, so I hope you know what goes down in this series.

I want in on this. How do I make my character?

• First off, your character needs a name. FIRST NAME ONLY for now. Later on, (if your character lives long enough) you will add a last name and backstory, but for now, just first name will do.

• Secondly, tell me your character's gender.

• Stats:
- Agility:
- Execution:
- Awareness:
- Discipline:
- Rage:

Let's Talk About Stats.

This game has 6 different stats, but only 5 of them need to be worried about for now.

• AGILITY is skill in moving quickly, evading Titans, and getting into advantageous positions. It is rolled to avoid harm or get into position to strike.

• EXECUTION is both skill at dispatching enemies and the mental resolve to move in for the killing blow. It is rolled to deliver crippling or fatal attacks against Titans, or for fighting humans.

• AWARENESS is the ability to quickly understand the flow of a situation It is rolled to determine probable sources of serious threat and the best ways to deal with them, as well as anticipate unexpected attacks.

• DISCIPLINE is the ability to keep your head when things get seriously dire. It is rolled to avoid panicking in truly horrible situations, and to inspire the same level of stability in others.

• RAGE is sheer personal drive and hatred of the Titans that plague humanity. It is rolled to break free from hopeless situations where your life is on the line.

• The sixth stat is LUCK. Worry about that later.

Alright, cool. Stats. What do I do with them?

So, when creating your character, you attribute these 5 roll effects to your stats:

[+2, +1, +1, 0, -1]

For example, in your character bio, it'd look like this:

•Stats:
-Agility: 0
-Execution: -1
-Awareness: +2
-Discipline: +1
-Rage: +1

Jobs!

You start the game off at Level 0. When you reach Level 1, you'll get to choose a Job.

Alright, so there are 5 jobs that you get to pick from:

• The Natural: Basically meaning you're good at manuevering. If you plan on playing as The Natural, you'll want your Agility stat to be high.

• The Warrior: Basically meaning you're good at fighting. If you plan on playing as The Warrior, you'll want your Execution stat to be high.

• The Strategist: Basically meaning you're good at planning. Think of Armin to get a good grasp on what this kind of character does. If you plan on playing as The Strategist, you'll want your Awareness stat to be high.

• The Leader: Basically meaning you're good at leading. If you plan on playing as The Leader, you'll want your Discipline stat to be high.

• The Shifter: I warned you about spoilers, didn't I? Yes, some humans can turn into Titans by drawing blood from themselves. If you plan on playing as The Shifter, you'll want your Rage stat to be high. By the by, we can't have everyone be a Shifter, so please don't always choose this one, and if you are a Shifter, you won't be able to access your powers until Level 1. Meaning you have to survive that long.

What if my character dies?

This is a House Rule that I came up with to raise the stakes. There will be a mandatory time penalty before you are allowed to submit a new character.

Since lower level characters die more quickly, the way to figure out how long you wait is determined by X (your character's level), and Y (the number of hours you must wait).

X * 6 = Y

For a Level 0 character, you must wait 3 hours.

By this system, you can wind up waiting anywhere from 3 hours to nearly 3 days before you can jump back into the action.

So, yeah. Try not to die, okay?

Anything else I should know?

There is one thing. As any good Attack On Titan fan would know, there are three different places you can go after graduation day.

• The Scout Regiment: If you want to fight Titans, this is the place to go. I personally recommend selecting this if you're comfortable with high-octane action.

• The Garrison Regiment: It's your job to guard the walls, and those who live inside them. Quite a bit slower than the Scout Regiment, but you might get the occasional bit of action.

• The Military Police: Only the best of the best can serve in the MP. Here, you live a nice, cushy life in the interior of Wall Sine. You have very little to worry about, besides keeping people in line on occasion. Is recommended if you hate fun.

How many people can play?

To prevent chaos, only 15 people can play at a time. If you die, you lose your slot until the time penalty is expired. If there is no room at the time, you'll have to wait till someone else dies.

The day you've been awaiting for years. After all that training...The days you thought you'd never make it to this glorious moment of catharsis. You have finally passed the test.

And now, it's time to make the most important decision of your life.

Will you fight alongside the noble and elite Scout Regiment to fight the Titans?

Will you join the Garrison and defend the walls?

Or are you in the Military Police?

The choice is yours, and yours alone.

The seven of you are sitting at a table in a large banquet hall with your fellow graduates. The ceremony is complete, and now, it is the celebration.

A young man clears his throat.

"So, where are you guys going after tonight?" He asked, poking at his food.

"Attention!" He screamed.

The two men gather at the front of the hall. A woman comes up and joins them.

"I am Commander Tobias, of the Scout Regiment." The man in the green cloak introduced himself. He was tall, lean, and had thin, auburn hair. He had a look of pride on his face.

"I am Commander Gregory, of the Garrison Regiment." Commander Gregory was much older than the youthful Tobias, and looked much more solemn. He was shorter than Tobias, but had a stockier build. His grey eyes were almost the same color as his hair.

"And I am Commander Violet, of the Military Police." Violet's long, blonde hair, flew past her shoulders. She was significantly shorter than Tobias, but a bit taller than Gregory.

Violet came forward first. "All those in the Military Police, come with me. We're making the journey to the interior tonight. Pack your bags, and be outside in 15 minutes."

A few scattered students stood, who all of you recognized as some of the top of the class, cream of the crop.

"The rest of you may be seated." Tobias said to the remainder who were still in the hall, including everyone at your table.

Gregory wanders over to your table. He grabs Alex by the color, hoisting him up in the air with surprising lack of effort for a man his age. "Why didn't you stand?" He asked calmly, but bluntly, not seeming to notice the rest of you.

He turned back to Alex. "But frankly, whether you're an insubordinate or just an idiot, it doesn't matter to me. People like you don't last long anyways."

He dropped Alex back into his chair.

"Those of you in the Scout Regiment had best be prepared. You're the next group to leave."

He looked over at Clare. "You can sit, young lady. I appreciate your gusto. You've got a good grasp on things. We could use more people like you in Garisson."

He turned, and walked away.

Have you ever seen the series? There is gunpowder, but titans are usually fought with swords, at least with the scouts. And aircannons that make you go around the city like spider man. There is a wiki for AOT, googling it would probably give you enough information.

"Listen up. Our first mission is to reach Scout Regiment headquarters. We'll be doing so on horseback. All of you will be given the maneuvering device, and two Titan-killing swords. As you all know, the maneuvering device is a complex piece of equipment using gas-powered grappling hooks to allow you to move freely through the air, provided there are surfaces for you to attach to. And of course, these Titan-killing swords are extremely sharp, so that they can penetrate the hard skin of Titans. They, however, lose their necessary levels of sharpness after a few hits. As you all know, the blades are detachable, and can be replaced easily, as you will have several replaceable blades. For safety reasons, you are only allowed to carry one additional piece of equipment. However, you ought to take two, as your horse can carry the second piece of equipment in its saddlebags."

He cleared his throat before continuing.

"These are your options for auxiliary equipment."

He held up a gas tank. "Additional gas to fuel the Maneuvering Device."

He held up an extra pack of blades. "More blades for your swords."

He held up a rifle. "This won't kill a Titan, but it can blind smaller ones. It obviously also works on humans, too, so all of you had better follow my orders or I will personally guarantee your last meal will be hot lead."

There was a silence.

"That was a joke...Moving on."

He held up a torch. "As you know, Titans are exponentially less active during the night. Most of our expeditions are at night. Torches are not necessary, but if you want one, it will improve your visibility significantly."

He held up a flare gun. "These flare guns are used as signals for communication. They're very handy in a pinch."

"Now, one at a time, go up to inventory with your two auxiliary pieces of equipment. Make sure to indicate which piece of equipment will be kept in your saddlebags and which will not- we have had cases of smuggling in the past, so saddlebags are routinely checked."

EQUIPMENT TIME!

Example as to how you check out auxiliary equipment:

TUTORIAL

Moveset! If you ever forget this, the Basic Moves are on page 2 of the handbook, which can always be found in my sig. You'll gain more moves as time goes on, but for now, here are the ones you need to know.

To use a move, just type it by name, and I'll roll it for you.

Avoid Harm
Whenever you're evading danger, this stat combines a dice roll and your Agility stat to get you out of harm's way.

Get Into Position
Using your maneuvering device, your Agility stat and a dice roll, try to get into position to attack a Titan.

Strike To Kill
To kill a Titan, you need to use your sword to strike the nape of the neck. By combining a dice roll, your Execution stat and your Titan-killing swords, strike quickly and valiantly.
A note about this move: Even the most successful rolls will not always kill a Titan. It might just damage it unless you have an Advantage (e.g. a successful Strike To Kill).
A note about this note: Yeah, my interpretation of this move works a bit differently from the way it does in the handbook. My way makes things easier, in my personal opinion.

Hand To Hand
There are some moments where Titans aren't the enemy- humans are. Combine your Execution stat with a dice roll to take the upper hand.

Assess The Situation
Sometimes, it's important to have all the facts. On Page 2 of the handbook is a list of questions you may choose from- but only if you can get a good grasp on the situation. Combine a good dice roll with your Awareness stat...And knowing is half the battle!

Keep Your Cool
On occasion, when things get really bad, you might start panicking. Combine a dice roll with your Discipline stat, and try not to freak out.

Desperate Rescue
If you see a close friend in the grip of a deadly Titan, how dedicated will you be? Will you try to save them at risk of your own life? If you're gutsy enough to try a Desperate Rescue, combine a dice roll with your Discipline stat and pray for a miracle. This technique has a very low survival rate.

Escape Death
This is it- you're trapped in the clutches of the monstrous Titans. It's the end for you...Or is it? Combine a dice roll with your Rage stat and fight. Fight for your life.

GARRISON

"Because the Garrison is such a large branch of the military, we assign cannon-mates. One person to load, the other to fire." Gregory explained. He began assigning two people to each cannon, reading off a long list.

"Clara, you're firing. Starn, you're loading."

He walked over to the cannon next to Clara and Starn's. the cannons were each spaced about twenty yards (or 18 meters if you aren't MURICAN) apart.

"Sean, you're loading. Michael, you're firing."

Gregory cleared his throat. "If you are a loader, don't feel like you are any less than your partner. Because if a Titan cannot be disposed by a cannon, it's your job to use the Maneuvering Gear to dispose of it. However, firing squad, if your partner needs help, it is your job to make sure they stay safe. When you aren't on cannon duty, you're policing the streets. Understood?"

SCOUTS

There were murmurs and shouts among the group as a few titans were spotted.

"Don't worry. Most of them are too tired to move." Tobias said to calm the crowd.

I continue to do maintenance on my cannon, affectionately rubbing my face against it when nobody is looking. Then take a look at the rest of the cannons, doing any maintenance that obviously needs to be done, or making minor repairs.

TUTORIAL

SPARRING

For inter-player combat matches, there are 5 different maneuvers. Each corresponds with a different stat.

Attack-Execution
Dodge-Agility
Block-Discipline
Strike/Counter-Awareness
Struggle-Rage

You won't find this in the manual by the way, I made it up. Don't worry, though. I'll always post it during sparring matches.

Here's what each attack does: During a player's turn for Offensive, they select either Attack, Strike or Struggle. They PM me their move so the other player can't see it. For the Defensive player, your options are Dodge, Block, or Counter.

Attack: A simple blow. Can be dodged or blocked, but too abrupt to possibly be countered. Causes damage of one Battle Point. Each player starts with 3 BP.

Strike: A more powerful move, but more exposing. Can be dodged, and if countered, the user of Strike loses a Battle Point, but cannot be blocked. Does two BP of damage.

Struggle: Struggle can be used as an ultimate finisher move, but can only be used once per battle per player. An attempt to dodge results in the Offensive Player spending two more consecutive moves in the Offensive. It can be blocked, but costs 1 point of BP. However, if a Struggle is countered, the Offensive Player spends the next two turns in the Defensive.

"We're surrounded on all sides! Prepare for combat!"

You begin to think all that beer was a bad choice. You don't know how long you've been upside down, but gravity is kicking in with your digestive system. You don't feel so good.

Once I finish the cannon's maintenance, I check the cannonballs to make sure everything is in order, the gunpowder is properly stored, and that we can access it quickly in case of emergency. Taste the gunpowder to make sure it is optimal. All the while completely ignoring the sparring.

While you can't find any Titans small enough to blind (which makes sense as smaller ones are far less active during the night), you do manage to make a clean getaway.

Which leaves Lilly with 16 other soldiers to evacuate, and 3 Titans to kill.

The newcomer Titans feasted on two other Scouts. A third took off screaming, headed in the direction of the wall. Only 12 remained besides Lilly. Where was Tobias?

You can't escape so easily. The Titans are closing in.

"It's just like home! We go from one wall to the next!" A young girl began laughing hysterically. "What's the point anymore?" She shot her grappling hooks into the mouth of a Titan, and ultimately accepted her fate as prey.

The group seems downfallen, and with good reason. The people they sat with, eating and laughing- people they had known for years, gone in the blink of an eye.

((Hello everyone, I've just been reading this and it's honestly been very entertaining, but I'm a little confused as to where the Scout HQ is. I'm guessing that it's outside of Wall Maria (which I believe is the outer-most wall) but in the first episode of AoT they try to (unsuccessfully) kill a single titan so they can set up the first base outside the walls. I'm guessing that the Scout HQ counts as a base so in this universe did they manage to kill the titan and make the base? Did the titan simply never exist and they just went ahead and built the base? Is this supposed to be after the events of Shiganshima's fall but it didn't fall and they eventually managed to build the base? Does the Scout HQ for some reason not count as a base?

Why is the HQ outside of the walls anyway? A regular base outside would make sense for obvious reasons, but a HQ? There are many problems with having the HQ outside:

The commander would have to go in-between a horde of titans every time he went to get new recruits. Based on his reaction at losing some of them, it's a wonder he hasn't gone insane from losing so many kids.
Any new recruits would have to make their way to the HQ, which as we've seen tends to promote high mortality rates (eaten, suicide, crashed into a tree) and above-average (for Scouts, even) levels of PTSD/outright insanity.
Supplies (probably food and water, definitely gas, blades, medicine, etc.) would have to be sent from the walls many, many kilometres out to the HQ through Titan-infested territory, all while carrying heavy supplies which would hamper their ability to move.
Assuming the HQ isn't the only outside base - or if it is, that it's the only Scout base - it would be difficult to coordinate movements between Scouts of different bases, seeing as how all messages will have to travel far through Titan territory. This goes the same for relaying messages to people within the wall.
Simply moving around outside of the base would be a risk because of the Titans.

- Unless the Titans are routinely killed off, they would make it extremely difficult to get inside the HQ over the walls (tunnels could be a thing) and the sound of so many titans surrounding the walls would heavily demoralise the soldiers inside.
- The Scouts probably couldn't make the walls as big as the main Walls, which may allow the surrounding Titans to damage it. Repairing the walls would require the titans to be killed off (cannonfire requires ammunition and is loud enough to attract titans, and manual killing is dangerous and also requires gas and blades), wall-repair materials to be available, a large chunk of time would need to be reserved to repair it, and it could be risky even with all the requirements met:

How big is the HQ btw? How tall are the walls? I doubt they're as big as the Walls. If they were only built to prevent access to the tallest normal Titans - the 15-metre class - then they probably won't be able to stop the Über Titan (30 metres was it?) from making its way inside and slaughtering everyone, or just breaking a hole in the wall a-la the Colossal Titan.

One more question, instead pertaining to the rulebook: what is Hold?))

Obviously, he has gone insane. There was never any HQ to start with. He was leading them to their deaths the whole time!

Exactly! Mechanically, he promised the Scouts actions and chose to deliver this way. So new scouts get to fight right out of the get-go. We haven't lost any walls yet this AU, so where else are the scouts supposed to fight?

In all likelihood, they just used a castle that was already there. No need to build a new one.

But yeah, in real life building a headquarters in enemy territory would be stupid. Story wise, it lets all the scouts get into fights right of the bat. They could have gone on a different mission, but then wouldn't have gotten to stay in HQ if they succeeded.

The HQ must've taken decades to build due to logistics. Unless of course I "misread" and they just found the castle which just so happens to look like the old HQ (actually not very unlikely. ~~What's the etiquette on giving OOC advice to other players for their IC problems?~~
~~When (in-game) would I be able to start playing? When the Scouts have all reached HQ? When the in-game year ticks over?~~
Should I put in my choice of placement (MP/Garrison/Scouts) in my character sheet?
Should I pick my equipment?

He pulls his rifle, leveling it with your eyes.

"I'll fucking kill you!"
