Not sure what it is, but the AI majors have been kicking my ass in my recent game attempts. Guess I'll try a normal difficulty game now

On the plus side, while I was in prison the guards suffered some kind of loyalty cascade and ended up filling the prison with their own members and then murdering each other so there's less of them now.

Their general also confessed his love for me, though I dunno if the game will actually let him become my lover given the membership requirements to be a guard.

I got captured by the guards for doing crimes against bandits. This involved being imprisoned for like 2 real time hours. You can't even alt tab and let the game run because one of them runs over to ask for a bribe every 5 minutes and the dialogue stops the timer.

These updates put me in a mood of maaaaaybe thinking about potentially considering entertaining the idea of having another go at MP.
Would there be any interest some time in the not-to-immediate future? Maybe try Oceania this time? Some house rules (cough*nukes*cough), etc?

Probably no intense multiplayer experiences for me until like, May.

Myself, I'm not seeing myself picking it up at all. The price tag is more nuts than I remember (you truly are a wealthy radish). And I might have been burned out on Dominions anyway.
But being able to read up on how differently it plays in this much detail is much appreciated. Ta.

I understand the big selling point this version is the extraplanar activity? Plus some minor tweaks.

Seems like the Single Player experience has been enhanced. A bit more diplomacy with the AI and it's supposed to be stronger as well (with things like army composition)

Won't be picking this one up for a few months, but watching eagerly. Poor Yomi

Played it a bit, 20 turns really isn't enough to do much. Most of the mechanics are retained, including the fiddly tribute tokens (surely everyone's favorite game system). They have remade the archfiend creation, where you pick from one of a set of premade fiends and then have 3 points to spend on customization (starting as a Duke or with 3 orders will cost you all 3). I think this is better from some perspectives, since you won't be able to completely wreck your chances with poor character creation. The fact that each premade has to be unique in each game is probably annoying though.

I don't really get the need for a 3D map, but I guess it's what sells. The models aren't particularly appealing and the animations during turn resolution are slow. No trouble on my machine, but it's decently powerful.

The first time I climbed up the side of the mountain and jumped straight across to the top of the tower. Almost did the thing too.

Alright tried this out a bit, seems fun enough. Just ended my first life by challenging an inner disciple, winning, and then figuring I could go challenge her mother, who was also an inner disciple. The Old Lady then beat me to death  :o.

Workstation doesn't matter, just the skill and the aspect strength.

I could maybe get back into it if people want. Went through a period of long work hours and then I moved houses, it was a whole thing.

I do blame most of my difficulties on the initial start- I had lower population from turn 1 and there were few minors around to consume for more. Maybe my profile choices were wrong- Enforcement has logistics and tax bonuses that could have been useful early on. It felt like things were looking up around turn 100, though I'm not sure I would every really have meaningfully caught up. I'm also not too keen on a multiplayer game that involves many months of solitaire play as a build up. Maybe 1v1s on small maps is the way.

Well I still don't have it but don't have time to play this weekend anyway, so no great hurry.
