that must be true, because i'm not seeing any open space thereYeah, that's a flat meadow, but the red sand hallway has maze-like channels in it. If you can tell the difference between those tiles you win a gold star cookie.

I'm tempted to do little 16x16 graphics except that's a really small size to be doing any Artistic Working in. I'll try out making tiles for each dwarven profession :D
So, I'm done all non-military jobs. (I really hope that it's professions that make tiles instead of overall categories like Farming because otherwise I'll be very angry)

Doodle 6x6I like this one, I've been looking for a 8x8 or less tile set a long time now, but its really hard to find and I'm crap at doing them myself.

A 6x6 tileset loosely based on my own handwriting. The letters are hard to read but it has a fun whimsical flavor (I hope). Overall it's 96x96.
I use graphic sets only because I like to actually see when a raging titan is coming to rip my face off and not another ` in the field.I'm tempted to do little 16x16 graphics except that's a really small size to be doing any Artistic Working in. Hell, go for it.
This is one of the few tilesets that works as a middle ground between mainly ASCII users and tileset users, as in both can use them and still be familiar with what represents what and without complaining about it not being "vanilla" or "pretty" enough.
Even I, who are mostly restricted to using artful tilesets due to me being nearly blind as a bat, could use this fine without wanting to gut my eye-sockets with a spoon. :)
i'd prefer if the dwarves were colored like vanilla graphics: woodcrafters in yellow, craftsdwarves in blue, etc. They're set to get coloured in by the game.
ohHaven't worked that out yet, graphics are hard :P
cool then. didn't know that was possible.
can we see them in action? ingame?
Diamonds and boulders is what that screen looks like to me :D hence Boulderdash! That gave me a great idea! A NES style'd tileset! Do it!

Pfft not NES style, C64 style plus it's lovely colour palette :D
And if you wanted NES/RPG style the stunning Jolly Bastion set may tickle your fancy: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=104261.0

Coincidentally, I too have crafted a 6x6 tileset. Yours looks very good, too. Also, the handdrawn ones looks very elegant. I'd use it, but I prefer a more rigid tileset.I think I saw that on the wiki! I like the walls.

SPOILER ALERT: I'm not actually graphically talented which is why I went with extremely plain ASCII :P

Anyway, here are vague civ graphics, using the NORMAL, ADVENTURER, GUARD, ROYAL GUARD, ANIMATED and GHOST template that graphics_example.txt told me about. It's probably not possible to get a kobold adventurer in vanilla but if you use the bodyswap command in DFhack then you get a slightly different kobold sprite :D
Same deal with the ROYALGUARDs, I don't know if they even exist but if they do then I'm ready for them :P
They remind me of Shook's drawing from the DyA thread.
Good show!

the horror... the horror...there i fixed it
Also, yer theta has a small chunk missing from the bottom right.
Here is something truly terrible. I'll let it speak for itself.
[snip]
It's not quite unedited (₧ is very wide, and a lot of characters needed a bit of fudging, and the top row is a better font for clarity) but it's close. Horribly close.
Have fun!
Are you taking suggestions/requests?Sure! It's not like I have a job.
That Comic Sans doesn't look too bad in the worldgen screenshot. I think we need to see the status screen to truly appreciate it.(http://oi50.tinypic.com/neavee.jpg)
Hm, how about...some kind of creepy tileset, with overly sharp corners and eyes on the letters and stuff? Or perhaps some sort of font inspired by Russian language or something? Or Greek letters? Are you taking suggestions/requests?Sure! It's not like I have a job.
Mr. Saturn? Is that you?I doubt it.
