Another random color generator - spreadsheet
« on: February 23, 2016, 08:22:23 pm »

I thought I'd share how I shake things up in my fortress, color-wise. 8)

I made a spreadsheet in Pages (though I'm sharing the Excel format here). It outputs a normally distributed deviation from the traditional palette, formatted for Dwarf Fortress. So you get a big chance of a small deviation and a small chance of a big deviation. Simple and ready to go.

How you use it:
  • Enter the spread amount in Cell B1. I like to use a spread of 40, but be as conservative or crazy as you desire!
  • Select Column F.
  • Copy and paste it into a text file.
  • Save the text file in the appropriate location: either as colors.txt in the /data/init folder, or as Random.txt in the LNP/colors folder.

It should show up in the LNP color menu. Make several different ones for different moods!

Other things to do:
If you have a favorite palette you want to shake up a little, this goes in Column C. Do not touch the other columns unless you know what you're doing!
Post your math modifications below if you so desire!

Let me know if it doesn't work.
