Title: Dark Heresy Interest Check
Post by: Cheesecake on August 02, 2013, 06:26:29 am
Hey, so I found out about Dark heresy recently. It's apparently an RPG game based on Warhammer 40,000 akin to D&D, except it uses a d10 (or d%). The Player Characters are a group of acolytes working for an Inquisitor, searching for Xenos threat, heresy, corruption, etc.

The Character Classes range from:
Adept
Arbitrator
Assassin
Cleric
Guardsman
Imperial Psyker
Scum
Tech-Priest

There are other books and supplements that add character classes, such as playing Deathwatch Space Marines, Sisters of Battle, or playing as Chaos Heretics.

I was hoping that someone would be interested in playing, and hopefully GMing since I don't really know the rules. Someone who's played before, perhaps?

Anyways, if there are people interested, I can send you the links for the .PDF download for the Core Rulebook. If you want, I can also send the link for the Supplementary Books too.

True enough, Warhammer is getting quite a lot of love on these forums recently. And this is not really undeserved, if you ask me. For all what it is worth, I will express generall interest in such a game. (Not hosting or anything, as I really only know the general outlines of WH-Lore. Be also reminded that I might not be as representable as normal. )

I would be interested, though not in GMing.

Would be interested in playing, so long as I could play more or less the same character as I did last time I tried this. (Game pretty much aborted after the second combat.)

I'd like to try if you don't mind that I know almost nothing about warhammer.

I would like to play if this is play-by-post. I doubt IRC would work out due to timezones.

Considering I'm joining another Warhammer 40k game, I'll join this too for a better breadth of experience.

Thanks.
I'll read through it, all I really know is the stuff I've picked up in that Imperial Guard suggestion game.

I would like to try something like this. Never played WH40k before, or any sort of tabletop before (Though I saw TB playing dark heresy, and got into the 'Rollplay' series on youtube because of it). I think I might be able to handle the roleplay though. I have dabbled a bit on BS12.

Does anyone know of a way to send .pdf files of Character Sheets around without emailing? If no one knows, is everyone okay with emailing and updating Character Sheets?

*cough* I'm also running an Only War game that has two open slots *cough*

Also, for anyone interested Dark Heresy 2.0 is in beta. Although currently it has a lot of problems relating to Armor and Penetration (Certain cloth robes can deflect damage from a bolter, plasma gun only has two points of penetration, etc) so I'd wait until it's actually balanced to play it.

I tried my best, but the best way is to simply transcribe the data to a text sheet.

If I do end up in this, I am fine with keeping my own sheet and emailing it. I would just need to know the format to use :P

E: Hm. I could try DMing? I would probably have to use stock runs until I get used to the setting, rules and the like.
Though, it would be great if we sorta rotated who DMed or something? I managed to roll 40's on Int and Per, dammit! I want to use this character! :P.
Might take a while even if I do decide to do it. I need to go through everything and make a campaign first of all...

Dropbox would allow you to host a changeable sheet that others can see online. Or even edit if you group up. It's a very handy program for RPGs. And it's free. At least at the levels you will want. I am in like, six RPGs that use it, and only using up a third of my free account.

Also, I might be interested, did you ever actually find a GM?

A example of dropbox in work from a previous game I was in (Uh, it appears that my browers PDF reader can't actually read it, so it might appear blank to some people at first, opening it with a actual PDF reader should work. If you people decide to actually group up it won't be a issue.)

Couldn't find a GM; I'd do it myself, but I just read the rulebook yesterday.

I would be up for giving DMing a shot. I would have no idea what I am doing, my lore knowledge would be horrible but depending on the medium I might be able to get away with it. Like, IRC/ skype I wouldn't be able to do, but a forum sorta thing would be feasible.

If no one has played the 'maggots in the meat' campaign, I would be happy to try running through it. Apparently it is really basic though, so more experienced players might get bored :(.

Yeah, I would try my hand at GMing, but I have next to no familiarity with the setting.
