I haven't used it yet, but my first fortress in the new version was called, "Cavelabor." A bad omen... maybe. You can also name your expedition group.

I just went with "Balls".  It's short, but poetic.

My dwarves are clearly trying to start a new life away from the tyranny of the nobility.  The randomly generated group name?  "Of Rights"

Well, my first fortress turned out not to be in a Heavily Forested, Thickly shrubbery'd zone as I'd thought, but rather a desolate rocky plateau with no plants but some short stubby grasses. The plateau was literally made of marble, though, so I'm keeping that "fortress" in reserve while I tumble onto one of the three other worlds I generated whilst folding laundry. (Since I'd NEVER get said laundry done if I'd started Dwarf Fortress right away.)

Anyhow, here's my second attempt.

Due to me misunderstanding what build channel does in this version, I had to restart. when I did, I came up with a more meaningful and nicer name... "Steel of dragons" I like it!
