Title: The Chaos Chronicles: The Mad Libs RPG Returns: The Knowledge of Prometheus
Post by: Greatness942 on January 31, 2019, 12:39:29 pm
So, this is back.

While Abyss of Traditions is on indefinite (though temporary!) hiatus, I thought it'd be nice to run a game parallel to Wiki-Warfare: Virtual Mortality v1.1, and in keeping with the theme of revitalizing old ideas, memory lane punched me in the face and reminded me that Chaos Chronicles existed.

The rules of these Chronicles is simple: characters are randomly generated with each piece of them divided into fragments that are then reassembled. As an example, Forum Goer X could submit a name, while Forum Goer Y submits a race, then Forum Goer Z submits the weaponry they use, but all of that goes to Forum Goer A's character. The fun is getting a completely unexpected character and doing wonderful things with them. Of course, you are allowed to re-roll the aspects you don't like. Say you got your character is a Race: Vampire, but you don't want to burn up in the sun. You can indeed re-roll this into another species. That species may be Race: Werewolf, but it's there. You have a limited number of re-rolls, use it well. What should make this game fresh is that I'm changing things around to make it more accessible.

Spoiler: Changes (click to show/hide)

If this interests you, then join in! In addition to playing, you can also send in fragments via PM, wanna make that clear, to the massive pool of them I still have left over from the first game. Once enough players join in, I'll shove all the ideas I have for plots in the same randomizer and come up with a good story that adjusts to all the different things people have. Enjoy. :D

Hmm, okay, I'll take these, but I again want to make it clear that I'd like these things in PMs, as that produces less clutter and keeps it all in one place.

But yeah, these are fine! I will divide some of them up into separate things, like make multiple Positive and Negative Traits instead of the bigger list as presented, but I don't mind the actual contents of them!

Oh my gosh is this a rehash of Zenith Concert? I'm going to have to play this. Just as soon as I actually read it.

Technically it's the resurrection of the pre-existing rehash.  :P

That's fine! You don't have to submit Fragments immediately, or even at all. You can just join in, and if you wanna do Fragments, you can send some when you have time.

I'll go ahead and add you to the player list.

And that makes six! Wicked! I'll write up the sheets sometime tomorrow after a grace period to see if Failbird still wants to submit some Fragments.

Is it okay for certain fragments to over-ride(at least partially) other fragments? Mainly race doing the over-riding specifically.

Indeed! It is already possible for Race to override Appearance in some ways, and I was thinking about a system where one Fragment determines what another one is. A Linked Fragment, if you would.

So yes! That's perfectly fine, at least partially. I want to save whole overrides until I actually make a judgement call on Linked Fragments.

Also, I have opened the Waitlist! Probably should've done that at the start, but it slipped my mind.

Alright, and can we;
A. Submit multiple of a type of fragment
B. Submit some fragments but not all of them?

A. Submit multiple of a type of fragment
B. Submit some fragments but not all of them?

A: Yes! In fact, Supernerd did five per category! As in, five names, five races, etc.
B: You can indeed pick and choose. You don't need to have something in every single category.

Alrighty, then! Got some good Fragments from everyone (no bad ones in sight, don't worry), so now the sheets shall be done! Note: All of TricMagic's and most of Hotfire's were made without me adding any, as there were plenty to choose from this game. Just for transparency. :) Also, you have a flat fee of 10 re-rolls throughout your whole sheet. Use them wisely

Was mafia, hence the definition of Family and Employer actually working with orphanage. She is not well adjusted, given someone turned her into a guy.

Also, long life to penguins.

If I reroll, can I keep the old roll? Mostly cause I still want the cat.. Then again, being a Sea Dragon is pretty damned cool. still..

Okay so, PirateJoe, I'd very much recommend keeping both the Digger and digging skill, because those play into each-other very well.
Also, just in case you're unaware what a digger is. It's sorta like a flamethrower, but instead of shooting fire, pretty everything within like a foot of its barrel just sorta gets turned into dust. It's real heavy though, and good luck moving any direction but backwards while shooting it.

Now then, as for my rerolls...
Reroll outfit(canine kigu of any variety is somewhat redundant when I am Awoo)
Reroll origin(Even though it seems to be one of the few that gives a buff, it conflicts with too many of my other fragments in the same way, that being that they make me masochistic and a danger to myself, while the origin makes me actively avoid such a thing)
Reroll objective(It feels like my dangerous tendencies kinda clash with this much of a good-aligned objective)
Reroll inability to lie(Feels like a flaw that's just going to be annoying instead of interesting)

I kinda want to reroll the theme song too since I'm not sure it fits with my character on a broader scale, but I could absolutely imagine something big and epic like that playing when I used my ultimate and I'm not quite sure anything else would fit... Fuck it, reroll it, let's see some more options.
so that's 5 rerolls down, 5 more to go.

Yes, waitlisting is a thing, I will add you to it.

Also, submit Fragments in PMs. I'm sorry I have to sound so firm, but after having it in bold in the OP, I genuinely didn't think I'd see this in the thread.

Gotta reroll Incapable of doing math.
I'm also going to reroll the name since things are looking pretty good stat-wise.

This brings me down to 4 rerolls.

I'd also consider rerolling the current history, but my character's stats actually look pretty good for zombie survival stuff. Or the objective, but it just meshes so well with the other trait and ultimate trait. And the being from a different planet thing.

And now, the plot has been randomized. So, here's the setting:

Life has a...markedly funny way of making the world work. Good luck and good fortune are punished while those with the silver spoon are rewarded. Maybe that's why he did it.

Dr. Lucius Allcright was never a well-adjusted human being. He was always twitching, always starting at the golden lights of the palace of the 1%. A grand skyscraper that hung over the city like the Sword of Damocles, forever leaving the impoverished scared as to whether or not they'd have a future with a titan standing before them. Still, this justified nothing right ended up doing. On August 19th, a mere three days ago, he built a marvelous piece of equipment designed for the slaughter: a chemical bomb. He did one better, though. He found magical tomes within the attic of his home, detailing spells and curses. Haphazardly, he mixed a terrifying curse into the chemical batch, creating a diseased and rotten payload he dubbed "DLR-8." He smuggled it into the building and detonated it at the top, taking him with the pigs taking the wealth from the people. What crawled from the wreckage, though, was not bodies.

Horrifying mutants of various kinds, infected by the disease Allcright created, poured from the pit, their venomous miasma turning into a toxic air that only served to either kill or further mutate the populace. The government has closed down the city, but the quarantine's failed and they've spread. To make matters worse, the US Government's run out of options. No one can sanction nuking the place without just causing more damage. So they called me, and now I'm writing to you.

I'm Lucius' son, Henry Allcright. If you are receiving this message, my father's tomes still work and I was able to use the Magic he himself used to deliver aid. I have Scryed and Scryed, and I found you. Within this letter is personalized instructions for each of you to leave your current area safely, a meeting place, and the names and basic identities of you, as well the five others I have chosen:

SAXTON HALE, which you demanded capitalized. A ten year old Telrac, more commonly referred to as a Vampire, who changed his gender. You like guns, gore, and hammers, you hate your guardian spirit, and the Mob family that abandoned you. I know not much of your goal, to hunt down the ancient conspiracy that took your birth family from you, except for a woman who might be able to help you find even more leads.

Jane Smith, a terrifying Blaspheme female. You are the Red Queen prophesied to bring the end times. How could I not vouch for you aiding me? You're searching for a Lost Gem in a bid for fame. I know where it is, specifically. Aid me, Queen Smith, and I may oblige to give you what I know.

Rom, if you are reading this, then the prophesied date of your ten year long sleep coming to an end was correct. You are a Zolmyrian Grand Magus, with unusual cat-like characteristics. I know of your true ruthlessness and your restlessness towards the Moon of your planet, Magdalore. I believe you call the moon Herezod? I know how you can erase it, if you wish to come aboard.

Mercury, another one who's changed her...form, you are a Child of the Goddess Fanw, and an adept in the dark arts. Your parent's killer is in a war you yourself are off to fight, and you wish to give him your congratulations on the act. I have happened to Scry his exact post, and if you will stop the DLR-8, I can get you where you need to go.

Emery, the Fallen Angel themselves. Your brains, wits, and stealth are far more advantageous to you, due to your lack of, well, brute force or Magic aptitude. You can hear the Gods and bring your old faces back to aid you. You wish to die, and die gloriously. This is a good opportunity, but I ask of you to not die immediately. There is much work to be done.

Vinny de Roso, a cybernetic Altered from Earth's own future. A Freshman at a College just trying to fit in. Apologies for disrupting and uprooting your life, friend, but the government experiments that haunt you now still give you miracles to work with. You wish to marry into royalty. Sadly, the Matriarchy of many places just isn't what it used to be. But I'm sure a Princess of another planet or realm entirely is well-within the tome's quota for communication.

I should you all, soon. Come to the home I have chosen for myself in New York. The infection's hub is in Los Angeles, but it's spread elsewhere. This home is where it is safe. I shall see you soon, and I ask that you genuinely get aquainted with eachother.

With Regards, Henry H. Allcright.

CHAOS CHRONICLES: DLR-8
TL;DR: Modern Day-ish, World Infection style storyline like in Abyss of Traditions or the fighting game Killer Instinct's Shadow Lords mode. Y'all aren't meeting in a tavern, you're meeting in a mansion.

I am unclear about where my character is at. Like, the specific surroundings.

She is still on Magdalore, but the instructions note a specific ship that is making a trade run by Earth, though not landing on the planet, as well as the location of one escape pod that could be jettisoned as it flies by.

Same with the other characters. They are on Earth unless they are specifically Aliens (like Rom) or from other parts of Time (like Vinny), and are given instructions by Henry to reach 1999 New York.

Rom figures that the letter was more than just a bit dubious, but she didn't rate the odds of coming across the explosive ordinance she would require to accomplish her objective as being very high; and her occasional meteor summons weren't really doing shit against something that big. She figured she might as well investigate this further.

First, she would need to figure out where this ship would be found.

((That last reroll was well spent, my current class greatly benefits from having 12 arms, but first it's time to manage my kingdom.))

Queen Jane I was quite amused when she read the letter, some upstart mage dared to not only scry her, but to also request her help, and less pleasingly, the help of five others.
Those five others were peculiar individuals, a ten year old vampire, a fallen angel seeking death, a child of Fanw wishing to congratulate their parent's killer, out of all of them Rom stood out the most, she not only hails from another world, but also wishes to destroy the moon. A commendable goal, though not nearly as commendable as bringing about the apocalypse.

Jane spent a moment in thought before her paranoia kicked in. Perhaps this letter is an elaborate ploy to lure her into a trap, this mage used scrying magic on her, he knows about her goal to find the lost gem of Karakulakunokashoko and that she's prophesied to bring about the apocalypse, perhaps he thinks he can stop the red queen and save the world.

Jane smiled, she was itching for a good fight, killing and torturing incompetent subjects does get boring after a while, plus this was the perfect opportunity to go on a date with Lord Mortvolde.

Instruct my spies to gather information about the outbreak, the late Dr. Lucius and Henry Allcright.
After I've instructed my spies, give Lord Mortvolde a call, invite him to a date after telling him about the letter.

Have my most trusted officer manage my kingdom while I'm away and then head to the mansion of Henry Allcright, should Lord Mortvolde have declined the date for whatever reason, have two bodyguards accompany me instead.

For reference, where is my kingdom located?

Emery was quite interested in the letter that seemed to arrive on their desk as it were. Clearly, it would be a chance to properly reascend to the deity they were and escape from their current 'imprisonment'. Still, there was a specific requirement to properly 'escape', but clearly this Henry knew about it to some extent considering what they said and the fact that they even knew about them in the first place. Regardless, first thing was first, they'd need to get their digging equipment before they could head out, but rushing wasn't exactly Emery's style.

Thinking about what was on the letter and how it seemed to be something copied and sent out to others, it seemed there would be a few things that might cause some issues, or rather people. Still, it was a solid maybe so they probably wouldn't get in the way...hopefully. Yet, there was something that bothered them, but they couldn't put their finger on what exactly. In time they might figure out what it is. Putting the letter down. Emery would stand up, go and take care of some 'business' they needed to do, and then go gather their digging equipment before they headed to the city of New Amsterdam, or rather New Yorkshire...or just New York...New Amsterdam sounded better but alas and alak, nothing to really worry about.

Gather up the digging equipment I have...it should be somewhere, hopefully that jackhammer that was lost will be found, and maybe something much bigger could be found as well...also gather up some 'substances' and alcohol for the trip, potentially using said digging equipment to get it...

Once everything is gathered, get on the huge boat with guns, the gun boat, and sail for New York, the flag the boat has should certainty fit as well...

Sorry for taking so long, I got really caught up in Wargroove and made several trips outside in the past week or so.

Mercury chuckles, picking up her strange weapon and adjusting her mask. Before readying herself for travel

"Yeah, because I needed a reason to get involved." She snarked at the air in absence of a proper face to reply to.

(also, question, are these mutants the man-eating type? Because 3118 can canonically create copies of people if the target is someone/thing that eats people)

August 23rd, 1999

Firstly, on the planet Magdalore, Rom looks over the letter. She is dubious, and suspicious, but fter ten years of sleep and a long time of ineffectiveness, she had nothing to lose. Following the instructions on the paper, she came across a trade ship from the species of the Alik'Onir, a race of human/reptile hyrbrids from the planet Zestrum that tended to make cargo stops on the planet. They all spoke Common: English, with accents commonly referred to as being from the Terran colony of the UK. And they were all just negotiating. [Eavesdrop: 3] None of it really matters to her, so after collecting a couple rocks [Rock Collector Trait. Quality: 1] which turn out to be meaningless, she watches over the ship to make a move.

Back on Terra, in the Realm of the Fey, the Red Queen of the Blaspheme Jane Smith held the letter in one of her extra arms, pale-albino skin clutching the paper as she read the English words imprinted on it. "Spies," she requests, "seek out New York in the Realm of Mortals, and investigate the Allcright family, if you would." Three spies, all male, nodded and rushes through a Rift in space-time to properly enter the world. Pulling out a cellphone with one of her normal arms, she calls up Lord Mortvolde. "Morty," she asks of him. "Would you like to go out on a date with me?" [Time: 5] "Oh, bother," he replies, "I'd love to, but not tonight. I have a difficult recipe for a potion I need to complete. Later this week?" Jane sighs, nods, and accepts that before putting down the massive brick of a phone. Two Blaspheme bodyguards, named Louvin and Hathur, began to follow her as she walked through the Rift, leading Lord Regent Megan in charge.

Meanwhile, somewhere overseas in the Realm of Mortals, Emery the Fallen Angel is reading the same letter. Finding the justification well suited, he begins hunting around for all of his mining supplies. [Scavenge: 1] Unfortunately, he can't find any of them, not even the Heavy Digger. Probably because of the same apathetic nature that got them nice and lost to begin with. With that in mind, he hops in his gunboat, and makes his way to New York, finding the American flag on top to be rather useful for getting in.

Within the future of 2085, Vinny de Roso reads the message on a holo-reader, his robotic eye checking over the words near instantly. He shrugs. "Well then. Not like I have anything better to do. And this offers opportunities for me..." he says, accepting the offer before pulling out a dagger. He suddenly cuts a hole into space-time, which then heals before manifesting itself as a Rift, which he then travels through.

Finally, within the forests yesterday morning, the Child of Fanw (which only the children themselves know is pronounced "FAN-eu") named Mercury shrugs and chuckles. She picks up her weapon, the SCP-3118, and adjusts her mask. "Yeah, because I needed a reason to get involved. she snarks, before heading out to travel.

Hours later, it is night time in New York city. However they entered, the result is the same: they are all in front of the mansion (save for SAXTON; apparently, he's being a sneaky little boy). Now is the time to introduce yourselves personally.

BSN: Yes, we're finally here! Sorry for the delay, birthdays and other projects, details-details.

I'll be copy-pasting sheets in the posts so we can all keep track of the characters, their Fragments, their bonuses, etc. Hence why it's BSN: Before Sheet Notes.

Now, just roleplay and enter the mansion.

Rom figured that she was going to need some money if she were to hitch a ride on some trader's ship, and she was pretty sure that her current rock collection wasn't quite going to cut it. She holds out her arm for her familiar to perch on for a moment, and then realized that she hasn't actually seen that bird for ten years now! She wonders what that bird has been up to. (Also, maybe draw a name fragment for the peregrin falcon's name?)

Mercury would sit there for a moment, before smiling and deciding on her own way to... 'break the ice.'
"Hey who wants to see this weird gun I found!" She shouted, more as a declaration than a question.
Quickly pull out the gun and shoot myself in the skull with it.

Emery didn't really care about the other people with him at the moment, and would try to enter the manor, though they would stop and take notice of Mercury when they made their proclamation and watch them actually shoot themselves with it. "She'll be fine, I'm sure of it." they'd say casually, immediately after they pulled the trigger, expecting them to actually be fine and, you know, not really caring or worrying about the fact they literally shot themselves in the head with what looked to be a normal pistol...

August 23rd, 1999 (cont.)

Back in time and still on Magdalore, Rom realizes she's a bit tight on funds at the moment. She summons her Peregine Falcon Elena Etsby to help her out in a pinch...

As everyone else enters the mansion, Mercury gets an idea. That's dangerous. Whipping out her SCP, she points it to her head and shouts "Hey who wants to see this weird gun I found!" before shooting herself with it. Instead of brain matter, her lunch falls out of her head. Odd.

As they enter into the mansion, Henry Allcright is already in front of them, on top of the stairs. He looks frazzles, short brown hair sticking up oddly. Tired and stressed. "Welcome to my manor," he introduces politely, "I see most of you made it."

((With so many waiting for others to do something, I think it falls to me to provide the proper encouragement.
Also repeated delinquency will attract the attention of the Red Queen.))

Jane stood still after her response to Henry, she noticed that she was infact the only one talking, every remaining guest was silent. While it was nice to affirm her authority, it was clear to her that all attention was on her, and that they were all studying her, perhaps trying to find a weakness in her defenses. Jane could not allow this to continue, these annoyances will have to be dealt with eventually, but for now it was enough to distract them.

"It would appear that I'm the only one talking here. I don't see why any of you whelps have been invited here if you can't even muster up the courage to speak!

YOU!" Jane yelled at Emery. "Do as the letter says and introduce yourself, we're all waiting!" She continued to yell, while strengthening her grip around her trusty whip.

I'll probably reroll Race, Orientation, and my Fire Breath which I can't turn off.

Done! Also, you need to do your Persona.

I'd like to reroll Race, weak-willed, weapon Specialty, and Other (because I don't think I can be a feminazi if I'm a man).

Done!

God I really don't want to lose the Bullet, but also it doesn't fit with any of the rest of my sheet.

Reroll Paraplegic Psychopath, Reroll Outfit(I want to at least try to hide that I'm a serial killer), Reroll... weapon. I'm not yet decided on rerolling anything else.

Premise in Three...Two...

Have you ever heard the tale of Prometheus? He was a part of Greek mythology, who is credited with creating man with clay and granting man the knowledge of fire. For his treachery in doing so, the immortal Prometheus was bound to a rock to have his liver eaten by eagles. He was freed by Heracles.

Born far into the future, 2039, to be precise, a man would take on this moniker. He was a member of an order of time travelers who went about the timeline, gathering knowledge and spreading it to keep the legacy of humanity alive. His real name is unknown, but as stated, he calls himself "Prometheus" after this figure. And he was militant, and powerful, and numerous. Stealing, killing...cruelty on a measure illegal and insane.

By next you wake, you will be in this time, at the area of the impetus of madness. Your goal is simple: travel time and space, accomplishing your own objectives and living your own life, all the while hunting down Prometheus, and stop him from his machinations.

Chaos Chronicles: The Knowledge of Prometheus.

And indeed, seven strangers awaken. A nearby calender reading "July 18th, 2039". Out the window, you see a pale man with an unkempt hair and beard of a brunette complexion. He's carrying a green dagger, and is arguing with an older man in purple robes.

So, let me know if this is a better start and premise, and uh...go ahead!  :)

Jane awoke to find herself in an unknown room along with six other people, all of them having just woken up. Looking outside the window she saw two men, who were probably responsible for adbucting her and the others. She was quite amused by their foolishness, they had afterall the audacity to abduct the legendary Red Queen. Oh she was going to enjoy tearing them apart, but not before getting some answers.

Ward myself against enemy magic, then jump out of the window and grab both of them by the throat.

Lily would seem relaxed despite where they were, far to calm than they should be to be honest. Though, after some time and seeing one of the others getting up and getting to the people not too far away in a very overt manner, she herself would stand up and simply watch for a bit. Surely, they wouldn't know who she was, or what her name was. After all, her shortened form of name is much less...known, and with what she was wearing, she doubted they'd be able to find out she was more than just a fairly smart and skilled human, expecting them not to ever guess she was one who had the blood of hell in them thanks to a particular lunar ritual that created them in the first place. Regardless, she had her plans, and knew that it was possible to manipulate these people into killing someone who was causing quite a few problems with her plans to take over the mortal realm, and also the rest of hell. She naturally would need to gain their trust, and their 'friendship', but for now she'd simply watch and wait to see what happened, walking over behind the many armed one, silently watching with a slight smile on their face...

July 18th, 2039

Waking up first, the Red Queen of the Blaspheme, Jane Smith, immediately twigs that something's wrong even before noting the futuristic architecture. Raising but one of her twelve hands, she casts a ward [7+2] that protects her from basic spells. Nothing substantial, but as technology surrounds her, maybe that won't be necessary. Looking out the window reveals two people arguing: a bald man in a purple robe, and an unkempt man in a blue robe with a green dagger. [Strength: 4] She gets a good run up and heads face-first into the tough, futuristic glass. This has the side effect of knocking her on her ass. It's fine, though. There's a door right next to the thing.

When Rom wakes up, she takes a moment to assess the situation. [Investigation: 8+2 (Cat Traits)] The obvious shines through: this is an advanced civilization similar to the Zolmyr themselves, without the presence of magic anywhere. She's in a room with six strangers, including some horrifying Eldritch Abomination that just smacked into the window, and outside, two people are arguing. It's mid-day, sunny. Calendar says July 18th. But the minutiae needs further investigation.

SAXTON HALE wastes no time immediately wishing to drain the blood from the dagger user. He throws the door open and immediately feels his skin burning from the light of the sun, but he persists. [Stealth: 19+2 (Ninja) -2 (Chronic Injury)] With perfect stealth in spite of his burning skin, he gets behind the dagger user and prepares to attack. [Attack/Defend: 10+2 (Stealth Bonus)-2 (Chronic Injury) v 6] He leaps for it, managing to suddenly grab the man. He manages a slight nibble, barely enough to even just feel stronger, as the man flails about.

Waking up, Dr. Bright can immediately see the woman he hates, Jane Smith, getting up after a nasty impact against the ground. He holds back his anger, instead preferring to look around and check for weapons or any additional items of interest. [Investigation: 16] He manages to find what looks a gardening implement: it'd seem they're in a shed. He pulls out a hatchet and a sickle from the gardening implements.

Lily walks up behind Jane Smith, and smiles at her.

[Attack/Defend: 10 v 9-2] The Dagger User, now practically obviously Prometheus, grabs SAXTON and hip tosses him, throwing him to the ground to burn in the sun. Noting the immediate attack, Prometheus suddenly slashes the dagger into...the air? Suddenly, space-time is ripped apart with the slash, before quickly healing. And then, in the space the rip in space-time, a green portal emerges. A Rift: a wormhole linking time, space, and dimension. And he's about to flee.

I'm so sorry! I couldn't work on it the night I wanted to, couldn't work on it yesterday. Please forgive me, I didn't mean to delay it so badly.

Well this was wonderful wasn't it? Their rival practically brought her to them and without any real defense other than simply trying to escape by running away. Of course, Lily wasn't going to let that happen so easily. She'd try and grab his shoulder with a pleasant smile, then, she would clamp down hard with the help of the density of her hand muscles and apply a electric shock as well in an attempt to incapacitate him, or at least keep him from moving through his little get away. She wouldn't say a word as she did this, just simply smile...It was kind of unnerving really...

July 18th, 2039

As Prometheus tries to run, the Telrac on his back doesn't seem very privy to allowing such a thing. He activates his Leg Servos for an extra boost, hoping to keep Prometheus stuck there. [6+2] His servos trip, giving him more of a movement speed. As he is still A: burning, and B: hanging off the ground like a little gremlin, it doesn't actually help him much. Still, he hops off, before his body began to shift and change. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRk76T35TCw&list=PLRgnL2sAl_RTsCQxu1G-0EBp1uZeN8l0q) He becomes a dragon, purple in color as his skin ceases to burn. In a sing-song-y voice, he growls out "Not Going to leave here~" before suddenly heading towards him with a fierce chomp. [A/D: 3 v 13] Prometheus then proves the smugness unfounded by simply side-stepping, the ten-year old dragon shifter missing narrowly as Prometheus looks after him. "Whatever..." he disinterestedly says.

He hears a shout from a nearby shed before Jane Smith suddenly throws the doors open. It doesn't seem to faze him even as others scream and run. "Seeking to flee already? What cowardice! STAND AND FACE YOUR DEATH COWARD!" before charging at him. [Precision: 19] She manages to move two arms rather well, stretching them towards Prometheus with intent to grapple. [Grapple: (Dual Roll) 14+17 v 5] Both arms grab his legs and pull him down before dragging him over. She suddenly lurches down, trying to pin him down. [A/D: 9 v 13] He, however, keeps his arms free. And thus, this Rift-generator in the form of a dagger is still free.

Rom begins looking around the shed, checking around to see if there's some kind of information terminal or something. [Investigation: 16] She finds a tablet computer on a nearby box along with some kind of chip serving as a note, indicating that this is being left here during the owner's break and that no one should touch it. Rom touches it. She finds that the group is somewhere in America, but as some kind of classification program indicates, the exact area is unclear.

Stammering, Wendelin timidly asks "O-oh dear, fighting already? Okay..." before gripping the Blue Orb close to her. Peeking out of the shed, she looks at Jane holding Prometheus, and fires a fireball at Prometheus, hoping to hit him. [8+3 v 16] She throws the fireball, but Prometheus' squirming allows him to dodge the blast, lurching to the side as it explodes by him.

Suddenly, Jane hears a voice from behind, saying "Fuck you Jane Smith, I'm gonna kill that Prometheus guy." in an acerbic tone. Dr. Bright runs out of the shed, gardening implements in hand, charging towards Prometheus with his hatchet and sickle in hand. [16 v 7] [16 v 2] He dives down, striking with both. The hatchet slams into Prometheus' stomach as the sickle catches his neck, tearing it. He flails about in pain as blood begins to squirt out.

With a disconcerting smile, Lily walks over to the struggling Prometheus, before leaning down and grabbing his shoulder. She holds down tight as she tries to use her lightning magic [11+2+2(Point Blank) v 13] She shocks him, Prometheus screaming as he begins weakly flinching, unable to move much more.

From the Rift comes a humming, before out of it emerges...Prometheus? He looks exactly the same as the one dying on the ground, save for less scraggly hair. "...I...suppose I need to get started, then. If this is what happens a week in the future..." He then goes back through the Rift.

Yeah, I had to. You have this one dead to rights and I need to have a plotline.

Sorry for taking so long, and sorry for the short turn! Short turn is because it took so long and I needed to get it out, and the break was because of a combination of late nights and Wrestlemania keeping me from updating.

"I get the feeling that our quarry is not able to hear you through those rifts, and if you mean the version currently on the floor, I believe he might struggle to speak with the tear in his throat. How about we go in after the younger him instead of trying to talk? I believe both of us would rather like to see him...judged for his crimes. Come, we don't have much time after all" Lily would say with a smile before motioning for all others to follow and entering the rift first. A part of her hoped that his soul would enter her domain, then she could potentially be able to get him to 'fix' some of the things she had in motion he had broken...Though, time travel is a bit confusing. Technically speaking though, if he was to essentially start dying here, wouldn't that mean that it was destined for him to survive up until this point and all they would be doing was chasing him around for a week until they make the plot to get their past selves into this location so that they could kill them? If that was the case, it would make sense considering he looked more disheveled like he was being chased all this time, and she'd make a note to come back just after everyone else had left to take the poor guys body back to her section of hell, preferably before he died, to make sure he would be able to be made into a good servant with some help of one of her own, potentially the one she left in charge of her 'estate' for now. But that was for the near future...well...not that near for her, but near for the time she was in currently anyway...

Well, this was...annoying. ...Lily would stop just before she entered the rift and try to open a small rift of her own briefly, specifically underneath the older Prometheus, that would shut seconds after he fell through. Besides, she likely would have gone back to this time later to specifically ensure she got her enemy all to herself to make a servant...at the very least if he died beforehand she could try taking his soul down there. After what appeared to be a fairly breif pause, she'd continue fully into the rift she didn't make. At least she knew a certain someone was...enthusiastic.

With all that learned and all that said, Rom exits the doorway and holds her arm out. To her joy, bursting forth with magic, a Peregrine Falcon lands on her arm. Her beloved companion, Elena Etsby, is quickly fed an apple slice and told to scout around. [Scouting: 19] Using magic to see through her familiar's eyes, Rom can see the layout of the whole area. It appears to be a large school/headquarters, with a sign reading "Chronal Quetz Institute of History" on the outside. From a bird's eye view (heh), she can see the area clearly. If there was a map of some kind, she could even pick out the exact state and latitude/longitude.

With severe irritation bubbling up in her voice, Jane Smith looked down at the pinned down Prometheus and growls out "Ok then, explain to me what the hell is going on and in return you get to live. Do hurry up, I have to teach someone some manners in a moment." She then waves a hand over his prone body, to heal the horrifying wounds. [20+2] Prometheus is fully healed from the magic, standing back up over his own power and breathing heavily as he tries to hold himself up. Before she can interrogate him, though, Lily makes a good point. "How about we go in after the younger him instead of trying to talk? I believe both of us would rather like to see him...judged for his crimes. Come, we don't have much time after all." Jane concedes, replying "You make an excellent point, go and chase that other guy, I won't be long."

Firstly, though, there is one hungry dragon-Telrac looking to feast. With a grin, SAXTON says First~ let's make sure this one no longer poses a problem." in a sing-song-y voice before leaping forward and attacking with his sharp jaws. [4 v 18] Unfortunately, as his Ultimate, his dragon transformation runs out quickly. Thus, Jane sees the sight of a burning Telrac overshooting and flying over Prometheus to land almost harmlessly on the dirt.

With a sigh, Lily turns back and tries to open a Rift of her own right under Prometheus. [12+1 (Race)] She successfully manages to tear space-time under Prometheus, which quickly heals up. Prometheus sighs as, in the place of the hole, a super-sonic *bang* goes off as a Rift opens up under him, sending him falling through the portal just a split-second before it closes. With that done, Lily goes through the Rift.

Dr. Bright face-palms his mask and says "God damn it, there's two of them." He then leaps through to chase after Prometheus.

Unbeknownst to everyone, Ying vanishes, forgotten and abandoned.

So, I didn't want to assume everyone was going through just yet, unresolved business and all. I'll describe the place and time the party arrives to next turn regardless of how many go through next turn. Sound alright?

Also, good job Hotfire for the first Natural 20. Three cheers!

Also, because 0cra hasn't responded once since the campaign began, I have no choice but to send him to the waitlist. I'll be more lenient with idlers here on out, so don't worry if you have to be away from a computer or mobile for a couple weeks to a month. But if someone isn't going to participate right from the start, it just leaves dead weight. Hope that makes sense, and I'll see y'all next turn. :)

Jane, not realizing Lily just imprisoned Prometheus the Older, yells out "Damn you! I just healed him so that he could be effectively interrogated. Now we have two of them to deal with apparently." She then grabs SAXTON, Lily, and Wendelin, and sends them all through the Rift as well.

Rom begins to plot an escape from the current facility, that being outside an institute in broad daylight by a gardening shed, and looks around to find the best way to get out. [Investigation: 20] The Rift might be a good start. She thus travels through it.

48 BCE
The Library of Alexandria

The burning of the Library of Alexandria showed that one conquerer cared not for knowledge in his conquests. Sure, knowledge was power, but so was Julius Caeser himself, and what good was competition when you lead the Roman Empire?

It is in this fire, this tragic loss of knowledge, that the six heroes find themselves in. After passing through the Rift, they see Prometheus the Younger stealing scrolls and other assorted pieces of knowledge, loudly saying to himself "Need knowledge before it burns, need knowledge bef-shit." He notices them, and Dr. Bright immediately tries to attack him. [14 v 19] Prometheus steps back and, using his Dagger, cuts open another Rift. This one, however, he runs from, instead bursting out from damaged doors into Ancient Egypt proper. What comes out of it appears to be a hybridization of a man and a falcon. He has bird-wings growing from his back, claw-like talons from each finger, and narrowed scarlet eyes. Named after the God of the Skies, this is Horus. And he pulls out a scimitar before taking to the skies, ready to attack.

BSN: Okay, so, starting off into a powerful opponent before you guys deal with a combination of mooks and bosses like a real RPG. Mostly because this is part of the Strong Opening Initiative. With that said, hope this was a good update.

Not to mention the obvious fact we'd be outnumbered. Either way, I appreciate your...confidence." Lily would say before thinking Or rather foolhardiness. Still, she would quietly go and gather her weapon from the space it was in and use it to disable Horus. And should he become incapacitated, well, he'd be of much better use alive and serving her rather than dead, and naturally, like the older version of Prometheus, if he was to be put in a position where he yet lived but was unable to resist anything else, she'd gladly make a one way trip to her home underneath him where her maid could gladly take them where they'd be kept safely for...coercing...

Having managed the chance to collect herself, Wendelin spoke calmly.
"Oh my, that was rude of you." Wendelin said, lightly peeved and dusting herself off, before turning her attention to the matter at hand.

"Salutations, I don't belive we've met. My name is Wendelin Lanfrank-" She adressed Horus plainly, a fireball crackling into being as she spoke, before being launched towards him "What's yours?"

The Library of Alexandria

The group acts immediately, Jane standing proudly and declaring "What a coincidence that we would meet today Horus, how about inviting your whole pantheon, SO THAT THEY CAN DIE TOO!" before waving her two main hands in a motion, an incantation. [19+2 (Magic) +2 (Accuracy) v 6+2 (Aerial)] Jane summons up a ball of lava and throws it right at Horus. The ball hits him dead center, making him fall to the ground. Everyone can see melting skin on his bare chest and stomach as he stands up, clearly fighting past the pain of the magma.

Dr. Bright sighs and shakes his head in exasperation, commenting "Damn it he's summoning bird people." He waves his own hands to cast a spell of Darkness, aiming to blind Horus. [12+2 v 8] Casting his spell, he doesn't manage to blind him, but the darkness covering his vision does disorientate him. [17 v 11] Dr. Bright then grabs a chair from the burning library and throws it, smashing it against Horus's head and making him bleed.

SAXTON HALE begins climbing the stacks of books, whispering to his guardian spirit Chen "Chen, mind giving a bit of help holding that thing down?" [14] He manages to get to the top of a staircase, and watches as a literal, white-winged Angel appears behind Horus and attacks. [6 v 16-2 (Disorientated)] Right as Chen moves in, Horus suddenly turns around and throws a sloppy haymaker, decking the usually strong guardian across the face and sending him reeling.

Rom hangs back, having not intended to come through besides a sense of just peeking her head in, and summons in Elena Etsby. The bird flies onto her shoulder, and she sends it out to try and have it communicate to Horus. It chirps, but Horus just ignores it as he keeps fighting. If he can understand Elena, he does not show it, his focus laser-wired on the rest of them.

Lily chuckles at Jane, responding to her "Come now, if the whole Pantheon was here, they'd have Sekhmet to deal with, and I'm sure the Lady of Slaughter would be quite more trouble than our current falcon foe. Not to mention the obvious fact we'd be outnumbered. Either way, I appreciate your...confidence." before charging forward with her maul, pulled out of a mini-Rift that she opens and then promptly dissipates. [3 v 15] Mid-swing, Horus grabs it and pulls her in close, saying something in a dialect she can't understand, before pushing her into a table.

Wendelin Lanfrank shakes her head, taking a moment to collect herself before calmly saying to Jane "Oh my, that was rude of you." She looks at Horus and greets "Salutations, I don't belive we've met. My name is Wendelin Lanfrank-" while charging a fireball, before suddenly charging at him, fireball in hand. "What's yours?" [18 v 13] She throws it into his still-fresh burn wounds, a scream of pain leaving his lips as he falls to a knee.

Horus huffs and gasps before suddenly waving his hand. Immediately, winds of the skies go through the whole library. [1 v 7] He throws them at the group, Dr. Bright being the first affected. The winds are weak, and he stands tall. [7 v 20] SAXTON, unaffected as well, dives in for a counter attack with his fangs bared. [8 v 15] Horus leaps into the air, dodging the attack and staying airborne.

Yep, definitely foolhardiness...Certainly useful if they happen to try to get in my way... Lily thought before trying to hit the avian in the wing and then the leg. She was going to get this one as a future servant, or at least she would certainly try. Besides, it wasn't like it was too tiring, and being shoved into a table didn't really hurt much...It did make her curios though what they said...A language that she of all people couldn't understand...Curios...very curios...Of course, all questions have an answer. She'd know in time...

The Library of Alexandria

Dr. Bright's first reaction to Horus taking flight is an irritated sigh before shouting "Get down here you stupid bird thing!" He casts a dark magic spell [6+2 v 4] that tugs him down a small bit: not on the ground, but within striking distance. With that, Dr. Bright gets onto a table and leaps up to attack him with his axe and sickle. [15 v 12] [17 v 14] He manages a shallow cut through the stomach with the hatchet, and then slams the sickle through Horus's cheek. Horus is forced to the ground as Dr. Bright pulls his sickle out.

Undeterred, SAXTON pulls out his hammer and takes flight, smugly proclaiming "Hammertime~" as he heads down to clobber Horus. [16 v 7] He slams the hammerhead into Horus's right shoulder, and dislocates it, letting it hang limply. Chen comes up from behind for a combo [2 v 9-2 (Pain)] but is kicked in the shin without looking.

Unimpressed, Jane once again "Are you done yet Horus? Call in the rest of your pantheon already, I'm waiting." before going in with her whip. [3 v 20] Horus grabs Jane's whip mid-throw and pulls it out of her hands, throwing it away by a table. He then complies. With a mere wave of his left hand, he opens a Rift. Out of it appears two people: a green-skinned man wearing all white wielding two sickles, and a beautiful woman with her arms outstretched, in one hand a staff and the other an ankh, wearing a headdress resembling a basket on a house. [History Check: 16+2 (Correlation)] Jane can recognize these two. Osiris and his sister Nephthys. When Horus does this, his head turns into that of a falcon's head, and while most of his injuries don't heal, his dislocated arm does.

Rom, apathetic to this whole business, immediately tries to grab some books and leave. [Scavenge: 6] Unfortunately, by this point in the fight, the fire's spreading enough that she can't reach any. Fed up, she heads back through the Rift, emerging back at the campus.

Lily ponders to herself "Yep, definitely foolhardiness...Certainly be useful if they happen to try to get in my way..." She runs towards the now definitely god-like Horus and swings twice, once at his wing, and then again in the leg. [4 v 17] [4 v 16] She swings for his wings, but the maul is caught in a bubble in air. Lily pulls it out and goes for the legs, but it is again caught. Horus uses his powers to push Lily back, away from him. This time she lands on top of a table.

Wendelin sighs and replies "Not going to answer? Mama taught me that it's impolite to ignore people you know." before carefully sneaking forward. [Stealth: 5] She is spotted by Osiris, who raises his weapons. In retaliation, Wendelin throws a fireball at Horus, [2+3 v 2] which grazes Horus's back, burning his left shoulder.

Osiris acts first of the gods, stomping towards Wendelin before swinging his sickle [20 v 10] right into her chest. Wendelin can feel ribs cracking before it is ripped out of her and she is kicked to the ground. Nephthys goes next, and the Egyptian Goddess of the Protection of the Dead casts a shield spell on Horus, who then charges right for Jane Smith. [11 v 12] Jane narrowly dodges, feeling one of her arms getting a shallow cut from the scimitar. Horus then declares something in what is now clearly Ancient Egyptian. If anyone can understand it, let it be known.

BSN: Sorry I took so long! Like I said, I was sick and a little crabby. But we're here!

Apologies for the rotten luck, going by the dice. I don't like to fudge things, and I didn't here.

Lily would seem a bit surprised, both at the fact that she had been thrown against a table twice, and that the force didn't break the table either time. Either way, at least their adversary was speaking ancient Egyptian, while she wasn't well versed on the older, pre dynastic levels of ancient, she knew the versions past that decently enough, or at least she thought as much, she hadn't used or heard it in a long time after all. Still, in the back of her mind, she cursed Jane's foolish words, though she might praise them if she was actually able to get all three under her domain...Still, she'd stick to the plan of trying to incapacitate Horus and giving them a one way trip to their little 'domain' and to servitude whether they liked it or not...Her head maid was quite...convincing...after all.

The Library of Alexandria

Jane lets out a satisfied, self-serving smirk. Finally, more Gods to kill! She throws her head back and laughs "HAH! That's more like it!" before moving three sets of her arms to continue the fight. [2/20/19] Unfortunately, a sudden muscle strain leaves one set of arms in mild pain, forcing her to throw only two bolts at Horus and one of the new arrivals in Osiris. [15+2 (Accuracy) +2 (Magic) v 14+2 (Awakened Godhood)+2 (Shield Spell)] A lava burst shoots forward, grazing Horus's legs and sending a little more pain. [15+2+2 v 9+2] The next blast does wonders to Osiris, basically cooking his right arm and chest and making his breaths labored.

Continuing their assault on Horus, the pair of Chen and his mark SAXTON HALE continue trying to attack Horus by ripping off his wings. [19 v 20+2] Chen attempts to strike from above, only for a suddenly strong gust of wind to push him into a bookshelf [Damage: 12], busting his forehead open. [7 v 3+2] SAXTON, however, does grab the wings, but his grip is too loose to pull them right off.

Dr. Bright throws his hands up and just goes "Three gods is to many to deal with, I'm out." in a tone of voice that can only be described as "nah, fuck this shit". While the Gods are occupied, the good Doctor arms his explosives and tosses them [5+2] a little wide, close enough to do some damage, but also easy to spot and dodge. [4+2 v 4+2 (Godhood)] Nephthys is closest, but she dodges the resulting explosion as it topples a bookshelf and caves in a wall. [9+2 v 7+2] Osiris is next, and his left arm is burned even more as the concussive blast pushes him into the fire, which he gets out of quickly save for more burns on his legs. [12+2 v 7+2+2] Finally, there is Horus, who manages to back up, SAXTON in tow, and jump back as the explosion triggers. Dr. Bright runs out of the library and looks around for a statue to resurrect [Spot: 6] but can't find one amongst civilian panic.

Gasping and sucking in cold breath from the ground, Wendelin Lanfrank tries to stand back up, choking out "Oh shhhhh...oot," before realizing the real damage. A hole in her sweater. [Composure: 2-2 (Pain)] Wendelin has just enough strength to stand back up, gasp out "This... was a gift, from gram gram, and you've ruined it!" and pull out her Ethereal Glock, pointing it right at Osiris' head. [6+3 (Full Mag)+1 (Anti-Healing v No Healing) v 4] The full mag goes off, bypassing his godly defense and smashing it as he is bombarded with bullet after bullet. He shields with his arms, but all that does is fill it with holes. Wendelin smiles as blood begins flowing from her lips, before slipping into shock, and falling unconscious.

Lily is, at first, stunned by both their strength and the strength of the table, and stands up, immediately letting the table fall apart under her power. Still, she charges with her maul towards Horus once again, trying to incapacitate him. [17 v 3+2+2] This time, she does manage a vicious wound to the stomach, pulverizing several ribs while he is distracted by SAXTON and breaking the Shield Spell and damaging his Godhood Shield.

Horus tries to wrestle SAXTON off of him. [11 v 20] SAXTON, however, immediately takes advantage of his distraction to bite into Horus's neck. [17+2 (Crit) v 11+1] SAXTON manages to sink his teeth in, snapping the Godhood Defense and beginning to drink the blood of an actual god. Osiris, meanwhile, flees at Wendelin's resolve, and Nephthys follows out to attack Dr. Bright with a simple Fireball. [13 v 17] With all the chaos, though, her aim is thrown off.

Rom, having lost interest in the battle, instead inspects the area at the Institute. [Investigation: 11] There are several older men and women in purple robes. If you need something to do, that's a good place to start.

BSN: And we're back.

I had a thought: what if Chaos Chronicles would've worked better as a Wiki-Warfare style d10 Arena game? I dunno. Would be neat, though.

((Yay! The adventures of accidental deicide continue.))

"Passed out already? This won't do, you're missing out on all the fun we're having."

Heal Wendelin's wounds with the limitless magical power I possess. While I'm healing Wendelin, extend one of my arms to retrieve my whip.

"This whole place is going crazy, and its making everything more of a pain in the ass."
Try to make my way to a temple and bring the statues there to life with my magic, and cast death spells on any god that tries to stop me.

Well this was quite a interesting situation. It was quite clear she'd have to wait for a bit while Saxton drank from Horus. She'd simply let them do that for a time until Horus was unconscious, at which she'd open up a portal to send them away, out of the fight and into her head maid's care...which was likely to not be pleasant for them in the slightest. Of course, she'd have to detach Saxton from Horus once she did that, but, that shouldn't be too hard... Still, she'd be careful, just in case one of the other two gods who happened to be there wanted to intervene in her plans.

(... I'm unconscious)

((So you are! ...Fair enough.

Anyway, sorry for the wait, a new turn of this and Wiki-Warfare will come up soon. I am not going to schedule it on a specific day, that actually makes me less likely to do it. So, just stay tuned.))

((Hey, so...I've pretty much just lost interest in how the game is now. Updating is a slog and chore and I just don't know where to go with it...but I don't feel like giving up on it.

So, along with this post is a poll, and on that poll will have three options. One to continue the game as it is now, one to focus on Wiki-Warfare and maybe try again when I don't have two forum games and other writing projects to juggle, and the one I wish to posit: making this a Deathmatch.

Deathmatches are easier to keep track of for me, I'm more interested in them, they play on my strengths and writing ability, and I just feel like Chaos Chronicles, like Wiki-Warfare, leans towards having these colorful characters fighting eachother. I will keep all the categories for character building, and pit however many people show up against eachother on a random map from wherever, just like Wiki-Warfare. But I don't want to retool without the advice of the people who have been patient enough to stick with this. So, vote on the poll above (unless the powers that be changed where that shit is), and thank you so much for your continued support.

You rock.))

The slow update speed pretty caused me to lose interest in the game altogether, but I'm not interested in the deathmatch thing either and I probably wouldn't gain more interest in this game after an even longer pause. So none of the poll options would really apply to me.

Well, I didn't want to include an option for just quitting, since I wasn't going to. Sorry for not accommodating you!

Ah, well, thanks for that! I hope to one day run something that can catch your interest and update at a good pace.  :)

Vote ends tonight! Once I close it, I'll make one last reply with a link to a new thread (or a simple "farewell for now, depending on what wins) and close this one. Thanks again.

And thus, the winner has been decided. Don't worry: now that I know there's an interest, I will still bring back Chaos Chronicles one day anyway. Maybe I could merge it with Sadistic Holiday Demon...wait, why the hell didn't I just do that?

In any case, with Chaos Chronicles on the backburner, allow me to introduce it's successor:
