zombie ravens certainly aren't the WORST type of undead you can encounter, nonetheless my companions got their spines pecked apart (or something) and died as i fled.  It turns out I had accidentally wandered into the Terror Forest of bitternes.
Fortunately there was a fortress right in the middle of it, so i got some new companions, stayed there for the night and waltzed out of the terror-forest with nary a zombie hummingbird to be seen.
then i got between some wierd buzzard/vulture confrontation, while my companions were off chasing whatever wild animals they could see and I couldn't
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
not wishing to meddle in their affairs, I swiftly moved on to the town of temperedbuttered, where I encountered a MOST interesting individual.  A goblin, with a HELMET!
dwarf/goblin size armor is very difficult to find, so one thing led to another...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
unfortunately my two human buddies were also drowned in the process.. but that's ok because i had to swim across a whole map tile of ocean anyway.. on the way to the ocean I saw a giant snail, I thought, hey good hammer practice, and a good meal!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
certainly one, sadly not the other.  I had to leave the snail alive because I was worried about sunset (thats how long I was trying to whack him to death..)
so I promptly swam across the narrow channel, and visited a nearby fortress (you guessed it, for more human meatshields buddies!)
while I was there I asked the local lady for a quest, she also told me to kill a vampire, but a significantly more dangerous one!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
she also expressed her disapproval of my hero-bachelor lifestyle
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I decided to continue on and kill the original (only!) two thousand kill vampire.
soon I reached the town of mouthstroke..
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
this is the place....

Wow, you've survived a while. I'd have died multiple times in multiple ways in this amount of time.

after asking many many villagers their names I finally find my target:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
turns out he killed most of his victims in his sleep. for 2000 kills he is very disappointing
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Thinking I was finally free of vampires I ask for another quest
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
sigh.  Well at least it's on my way.
gathering a couple more warriors from the village I continue northeast, but our travel is interrupted
Is this the end?  The last ambush I faced didn't go so well
soon all my friends were dead leaving me to face several goblins alone
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
using my now legendary crutchwalking skills I manage to run away and get several goblins alone
I actually manage to kill all of them by running and fighting one at a time.  then I am confronted by their leader, wielding a crossbow, who introduces himself as a "master"
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
he actually wasn't that tough.
I actually survived an ambush.  What can stop me now?

I'll tell you what wont stop me.  This next pathetic vampire.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
woah!  well at least it was a villager's head not mine.  he was fairly easily hammered and I rounded up a couple of locals and continued on.
Now perhaps the most formidable part of my journey begisn.  There is a large stretch of uninhabited wilderness I have to traverse before i reach my goal:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
and that's just the part I can see.  the total distance is about 5x as long as that, and mostly uninhabited.  undaunted, i embark on my journey.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
not a great start! and it seems two of my friends have already deserted me leaving me with one crossbowman
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
haha jokes on you that leg doesn't work anyway!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
whew.  alright, onwards!
after several days my supply of rat weed looted from the village has run out.
there isn't much food in the desert so  I have to eat whatever I can find
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
yuck.
by this time of course my last companion has deserted me
After a good night's sleep under the stars, I attempt to continue my journey...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
hm.  I didn't get a warning for this one. oh well.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
a brief snapshot of another encounter:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
the journey continues!

So in the long, long journey across the untamed wilds, I managed to get my crutchwalking skill up to a point where I couldn't improve my speed anymore (aka legendary+6 and beyond)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
not an amazing speed, but for a guy with one foot I think that's pretty good.
at last I approach my goal
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
apup won't know what hit him!  this is a pretty funky purple fortress though
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I slaughter all the soldiers in the courtyard, and find my opponent just inside the keep.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I dont mean to disappoint whoever it was who installed apup there but this was the entirety of the fight
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
my task complete, I slayed the lord and all his family hanging round in the keep and journeyed to the nearest town, insightlulled which surprisingly still let me retire.  I think it's because my reputation was good enough that attacking one site didn't make me considered an enemy of the civ.
i'll post the save once it's done uploading.

Spoiler: cerol's location (click to show/hide)
Cerol should be on the west north west outer edge of the town insightlulled, standing in the street. (a dwarven hammerlord should be easy to spot, I have not seen a single dwarf in my adventure)

Alright, sweet! Hopefully not all of the hill battles will be that quick.

That makes it Timeless Bob's turn! I'll update the turn list now.

So how was Cerol's kill list? Seemed like it'd be quite long.

twenty eight notables, seventy other.  Unfortunately most of cerol's time was spent in the wilderness between the last two updates, which I didn't think to document since it was quite boring, just hammering the occasional giant lion or giant louse, so mostly animal kills.
I never saw a single bogeyman this game.  Maybe it's because by the time I started travelling alone I was powerful enough they left me alone?

Timeless Bob? Are you there? Too much longer and we'll have to skip you. I'll shoot you a message.

Alright, so DF2014 is out, do y'all want to just keep playing on this save till bugs are ironed out, create a second save that we could run simultaneously to this one on DF2014, or what?
