Hmmm...Is this meant to be as fast-paced as the forum game you linked? Its meant to be a faster pace than most RTDs, although it will probably last longer than that one did. Here's the first time (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=134106.msg4821715#msg4821715) I ran this, for reference.
Will rolls to shoot people still be the same? If so, then it seems this could be a little too fast-paced. I'd say, if anything changes, that sixes are fives that wastes extra ammo, forcing the player to reload before they shoot again, unless they had a full barrel, in which case they only get an extra shot. Also, maybe low ammo should make lower rolls empty out your gun, also requiring a reload.Hmmm...Is this meant to be as fast-paced as the forum game you linked? Its meant to be a faster pace than most RTDs, although it will probably last longer than that one did. Posting to watch. I love Bang, especially the expansions (I can't remember what they're called right now) that contain Curse (I better not play Dynamite while that's active), Blessing (barrels are the best defense imaginable!), and Ghost Town.

I like your suggestion, but I'll probably won't implement unless this first round goes too fast.
Flip a nearby table and get behind it for cover(6) Grabbing the nearest table, Garry flips it with such force that the table breaks apart, showering everyone in the immediate area with splinters. The cloud of splinters obscures everyone's vision of Garry, but it'll dissipate in a turn or two.
Recover my wits and take cover in a location where I'll be hard to hit, though from which I can shoot relatively easily (the former is more important than the latter).(5) Jack Spades looks around for some cover, and decides to hide behind the bar. Spades is now In Cover (reduced chance of being hit).
Comprehend the lighting situation in the saloon. Is sunlight mainly coming through the windows, or are those fire spirits sealed in glass illuminating the room? Additionally, where are the dark corners of the saloon?Shouts-with-Bow looks around. Its early evening, so sun is still illuminating the place. The only dark places he can see are two dark corners next to the door. There's also stairs leading to an upper level of seating above the bar he can't see though.
Get behind the same table as PaPaj. If there are any chinks in the table, aim out through them. If not, remain concealed behind the table.(1) Slab moves towards Garry only to be hit by debris from Garry smashing the table. (4) Slab throws his hands up to protect his face from the splinters, leaving him relatively unscathed, but vulnerable.
Walk over towards the bar. Dramatically lean against it.Samuel walks towards the bar casually and grabs a lighter, (6) before suddenly turning around and chucking something at Slab and Garry. (4-1) Unfortunately, Garry smashing the table to smithereens throws off Samuels aim, and the small object lands on a table nearby.
"So now, any of you feel like coming quietly?"
"My goodness!" Take cover!(5) Fallacy spots some sturdy looking Barrels nearby and hides behind them. Fallacy is now in cover.
[Peeks above cover] "Okay guys, can we please not do this?"Jack Spades surveys the scene behind the bar.
Watch everyone carefully.
Tip another table, one where I'll have good aim at everyone. Get behind it.(5+1) Slab tips over a table and ducks behind it, putting him In Cover.
Find myself some totally-not-obviously-hiding cover. You know, the sort of cover where you are protected, but look like you're just being dramatic or something.Samuel looks for cover. (1) He trips on a piece of debris from the smashed table and (4) falls over. Samuel is in Pain (chance of malus to rolls next round)
"Does that mean you want to give up right now, Spades? Cause if so, draw that gun real slow-like and toss it up here. And if not, well, let's just assume you want to come quietly."
Watch Glass. If he tries anything, shoot him.
Keep taking cover.Fallacy continues to remain in cover. He is no longer Focused.
"Please just leave me alone. I don't wanna die today!"
Find cover, then view the positions of the sheriff and others relative to me.Shouts-with-Bow heads to find some cover (1) but instead gets knocked to the ground by the explosion.
Just got back from camping. (I love how not moving plays into my character.)(2) Johiah looks for cover, but is distracted by the loud explosion. He is no longer Surprised
Get into cover preferably in a corner of the room, and become unsurprised. Be ready to return fire at anyone who attacks me.
Yeah, your action got cancelled by the dynamite going off. You're currently lying on the floor.((um....where's my action at?))
my bad...
*sighs*Jack Spades patiently waits behind the bar.
"I can wait."
"EEK! What was that!"As does Fallacy behind his cover.
Keep taking cover. Seriously, what was that?
Watch the area of explosion to determine what it was.(4)Slab looks at the explosion and notices that it seems to have been caused by a stick of dynamite. (4) Slab fires his gun at Garry, and manages to wing him in the shoulder, Lightly Wounding him.
Shoot Garry in the head, as he is on the floor and most vulnerable.
Heh. Fine then, get bad rolls.Seeing Slab shoot at Garry, Samuel opens fire. (4) The shot slams into the table Slab is using as cover.
Shoot anyone who shoots.
This is your last chance to come peacefully, all of you.
Get behind cover,or if i am behind one, find something betterGarry is getting up when he gets winged in the shoulder by Slab's bullet. (4-1) He ducks behind a barrel, putting him in Cover to Fallacy and Slab, but the others still can get off a shot at him.
Reach cover, for real this time.(1-1) Shouts with bow tries to get up, but slip[s on a loose piece of debris and falls over again.
Get into cover, FACING the cop.(4) Johiah takes cover behind a crate. (1) He attempts to shoot Slab, but (1) instead his gun bursts apart in his hand.
Don't shoot unless anyone else does.
Change cover, get a better angle on the guys who have gone to ground.(5) Samuel runs up the stairs to the second level, right above the bar. From there he has a good angle on everyone, except Jack Spades.
And try to *avoid* getting shot.
Give my gun to Johiah, get behind a better coverGarry (4) slides his gun over to Johiah, then (4) moves the barrel so he'll be In Cover. Garry is now Bleeding Out (5 turns until Badly Wounded), and needs medical attention.
Remain in cover. If Slab tries anything, shoot him.
"Shots fired!" Hunker down. Don't be shot.
Remain in cover and watch Glass. If he tries anything, shoot him in the head.Jack Spades and Slab the Killer aim their guns at each other, while Fallacy watches from his cover. Slab is distracted by the arrow whizzing past.
Fire an arrow over Slab's cover. Since the shot will arc, and the bullets he was expecting don't arc, his cover will not account for this.(3) Shouts-with-Bow arcs an arrow at Slab. The arrow misses, but it does distract Slab's attention.
"Ow."Johiah looks for the nearest person to wrestle, but then sees Garry slide a gun across to him.
Wrestle the gun of the nearest person out of their hands.
I dont have a gun...ah, yes. Sorry.
Cover everyone with a gun. Anybody who starts a gunfight gets shot.Samuel covers everyone with his gun, except Jack Spades, who he doesn't have a clear line on.
"Anyone have anything dramatic to say, or are we just hanging around waiting to get shot first?"
waitGarry waits. Johiah moves to treat Garry, (1) but his clumsy attempts to treat Garry only makes things worse. Garry is still Bleeding Out (2 turns until Badly Wounded).
If everyone agrees to do what I said, be the first to set my gun at the barkeep's table, holding the gun by the barrel (not the trigger) on the way there so as to show I won't use it.
Otherwise, shoot anyone who chooses to shoot someone else (but only if the shooter was the instigator, I.e. if Josiah shoots out of self-defense, I'm not shooting at him).
Toss gun over to barkeep, keep eye on Slab.
If everybody else puts their guns(and bow) on the table, I will too.
Carefully give my gun to the barkeeper.
"Thanks Garry."The 5 robbers with guns look for the barkeep to hand their guns (and bow) to, (1) but he seems to have disappeared in the commotion. Instead you all settle for placing your guns on the bar, except for Shouts-with-Bow, who decides to throw his (5) on the bar with no problems. Jack Spades and Johiah keep their hands on their guns cautiously.
Provide first aid to Garry if no one else does, and fire my gun at anyone who shoots.
If the cop moves towards the table as well, then I will too,
placing my gun on the table.
"I trust my mates te not backstab me, but ye can't trust a cop."
(I am apparently an Australian pirate.)
Sorry to doublepost, but... *bump*I've been busy at work and was expecting more talking. I'll put up the turn in the next 24 hours.
"Samuel, gun on the bar. We need to get Garry to a medic."Jack Spades looks around for some alcohol. (1-1) Jack can't see any alcohol around. In fact, Jack can't see anything. That moonshine he drank earlier must have been worse than he'd thought. Jack is now Temporarily Blind.
Look for some alcohol to give to Garry. Once everyone has dropped their guns (that means you, Madman), go out to look for a medic.
Use my spare bandana to treat the woundGarry pulls out his Spare Bandana and applies it to his wound. Garry is no longer Bleeding Out, and feels much better.
Eye others suspiciously. Keep taking cover.Fallacy continues to stay put.
"Battle...cannut stop. Men still hold gun, in heart. Conflict...must resolve.(6-1) Shouts-with-Bow spots a deck of cards on a nearby table and grabs it. He looks aroudn for some willing players. Shouts-with-Bow is the Silent Type.
...
...Blackjack?"
Look around the saloon for a deck of cards.
Examine the outside through the largest window.Slab looks out of a window. Its still in the early evening outside, (3) a couple folks of folks on the street outside are looking in, curious to what's going on.
Man, you guys are making me want to not start this firefight.Samuel continues to cover the crowd, confused as to why a group of outlaws are requesting he hand over his gun.
But I really wanted to start a firefight.
"You see, I'm the sheriff here. You are, collectively, under arrest for your misdeeds. If the guns stay on the table, we get out of this with a nice set of jail sentences and be done with it. If we resist, that guy is liable to bleed to death and you guys are going to get shot."
Keep covering them. We'll have a nice conversation.
With no firing, of course.
Shuffle deck and wait patiently. Comply with sheriff, and if anyone lunges for a gun (or bow) other than him, grab and restrain them. While waiting for something to happen, Shouts-with-Bow shuffles and deals for himself and the nonexistent dealer. The dealer hand draws a facedown card and a 10. You draw a 6 and a King (face cards count as 10 points, so you have 16 total points). The dealer has to hit. Do you hit (draw another card) or stay?
I legitimately now want to settle this with a game of blackjack. Even if I lose, I'll learn how to play blackjack.
Persus, the players are only supposed to know about one of the dealer's cards. Thanks for the reminder. I was playing pazaak more recently than Blackjack, and mixed up the two.
Hello?i sent Johiah a PM. If he doesn't post by tomorrow I'll post a turn.
Bump for johiah, and if ny of you want to keep up the conversation.I'll stay.Shuffle deck and wait patiently. ...stop being blind.(6) As quickly as the vision loss came, it leaves. Jack Spades is a little Disoriented though.
Move to the bar, swipe all the guns off of it, behind the bar. Anyone who reaches for a gun gets shot.Samuel moves downstairs to the bar, and pushes the guns off behind the bar. (5) Luckily, none of them go off.
"You're crazy. I haven't done anything!" But do nothing. Aside from keep taking cover.Fallacy continues to cower behind a barrel.
Go and rest on a chair for a momentHaving healed himself, Gary (4) sits down on a chair to rest.
"You know the barkeeper was supposed to be holding the guns, right? You also know you're not the barkeeper, right...?"Slab shouts about the barkeep. (1) Said barkeep walks out of the kitchen holding a shotgun. He looks mad.
I'll stay.Shouts-with-bow stays. The dealer flips his other card over, revealing it to be a 3. He draws a 7, putting him at 20 points, beating your 16.
Play BlackjackJohiah deals himself in, drawing a 2 and a Queen. He draws a king and a facedown card for the dealer. Now he has to choose to hit or stay.
What happened to turn 6?It was the turn before turn 7.
Also: we need a status spoiler. The only thing that had changed was your status.
...so wait, is being disoriented better than being blind, or worse? It will end after one turn, but is slightly worse. Sorry for the confusion. I also left the word document I was using to run the game on my home computer, so I'm running things on the fly.
And you hadn't changed the thread title for turn 6, which was why I was confused.
