WELCOME BACK BAY 12 FORUMS
Panic Race is a cross forum combat racing game that started in March of 2017 on GameFAQs (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/428-everybody-panic) and Bay 12 Forums (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=163331.0) and grew to include MafiaScum (https://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=72110&p=9293887#p9293887) and SpaceBattles (https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/panic-race.524812/). While spots for racers are limited, part of the frantic fun in this race of life and death is the audience participation.

TEAM PLATINUM ATVs
This time you can recruit your own Team Platinum ATV to automatically race the track and help charge local racers' specials each lap. You can recruit another when they die. Up to 3 ATVs from different spectators at once. The forum that completed the most ATV laps will design the next track. Eliminated players can also participate.

This is essentially a board game.

The goal is simple, get 2 points first!
•laps are 1 point
•kills are 1 point


Choose your number,
•MafiaScum you can choose 50 to 59
•SpaceBattles you can choose 60 to 69
•GameFAQs you can choose 70 to 79
•Bay12 you can choose 80 to 89
first come first serve.

You have 9 points to put into stats, put from 1 to 3 in each:

ENGINE: Bonus to how many more spaces you can move than last turn.
BRAKES: Bonus to how many less spaces you can move than last turn.
TIRES: Bonus to your grip around corners, and lessens priority of receiving an unintentional attack or hazard.
ARMOR: Your hit points keeping you safe.
SPECIAL: Bonus to balance of your triggered ability, which must be charged at various charge spots on the course.

Vehicle: The Dred Tonught: A hover tank custom rigged on a junk world with paint job. Spikes. War trophies. And grill. Hovering vents emit rrdbenergy.

Special: Arsenal Core: The Dred is truly horrifying for it has a device plugged into Theogs skull by cuberware. It is a smart device with nano bits and solid energy projector, that allows him to manifest weapon systems he can conjure out of his mind.

Please note how he is a war vet and let that sink in.

PILOT BIO: "Doc" is a really bored engineer who felt like building a racing robot in his spare time. Guess what? He did make a racing robot.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: OkThen 2.0: An autonomous quadruped robot that's an updated version of a parkour bot. It only needed one little change to be fast enough to use in a race: rocket jumping. Yes, that's its main method of transportation. Its legs are made of a particularly robust futuristic metal alloy so it lasts more than one jump, obviously, but the rest is more lightweight. Oh, and it can also aim rockets at other stuff than the ground if it needs to.
SPECIAL DESCRIPTION: As a last-minute modification, OkThen 2.0's legs were made extra pointy, so it can try to land on stuff for fun amounts of damage.

He is the only one capable of translating it's techniques for carriages, rickshaws, and the like to modern technology.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: A motorcycle with a ninja motif, including shrunken decals on the wheels, handlebars that look like nunchucks, and a black-and-white color scheme.
SPECIAL DESCRIPTION: Master of ninjutsu and autotsu, both he and his vehicle have ninja-style tricks for interfering with enemies and avoiding obstacles.

DRIVERS! START YOUR ENGINES!

In a spoiler, choose how many spaces to move. (do not look at other's)
You must move 1 space, and can move up to your speed in extra spaces.

Going faster than 3 spaces onto mild corners 60° are risky if your handling is low, and faster than 2 spaces for sharp corners 120°. However the risk of crash is at most 50% and usually much lower. Crashing may cause damage and will remove the automatic 1 space movement for the next turn.

You can ram a target in the same space as you. They must have equal or less integrity, you may take some damage aswell. This can cause the target to crash on corners. Either way a ram doesn't miss.

Ranged attacks can be done to any target on a neighbor hex(including different parts of the track) except the last space you moved through. These can be dodged, which their handling helps with.

Special attacks are locked...

You can attack a player once they pass you.

All start at C3, This race goes clockswise, the next 4 spaces are: D3 D2 C2 B3

• If your armor prevents you from taking damage in a crash, you get no movement penalty.

Update: If you don't specify, I will assume you do not take a short cut. You only have to decide before moving past the fork.

As Throg notices the little man in the motorcycle he drools with range as he speaks. Noticing the mechs spider attack from before.


" Sneaky little git! Take this for size!" As he keeps spare weaponry not core related as he launched one while still driving. The Dred launched a canister into the air which explodes. From point is a rain of fire balls of doom to the area up ahead in a attempt to blanket blast the zone. Covering it in napalm death as he was not one for exact aim right now as he has to watch mechs spider and wagon man too. He was thinking of using more aim noting weaponry. Just not yet. Figurres a nest bomb was a good fire show to start up at.


Edit:  Yeah if a sequel or so. Definitively investing in Agility. The reason Thorg had zero is his second brain for such motor focus is dedicated to guns.

Alright. Thank you test drivers.

I am going to conclude this now. Now is time for applications for Race One.

As thank you for testing, if in the next race or any future race you use this character or their car(doesn't have to be both) again or someone who's In the same spirit such as a relative doing a similar thing I will count you as a veteran instead of a newcomer.

This won't affect the base gameplay but I might have some fun with the idea of veterans returning but at the very least you will be acknowledged as such.

Please make a new post if anything is changing to put your new entry in. Otherwise if you are staying the same you are already registered. (Well just let me know what you want to race again)

There's also going to be an exciting little twist to this next match. But those details will come later... be revealed now. Death Race is expanding to other forums, simultaneously!

I'm guessing it's "stat decreases are less decreasing, while buffed", but don't want to put words in Doc's mouth. And

It means Doc's special inflicts stronger debuffs than a normal attack.

Alright I'm going to try to be clear about this because it's two different ideas. There is your special description which is its own whole thing. You can pretty much do whatever you want with it.

However depending on how many stars you put into it I may need to buff it in some way or Nerf it in some way. Obviously a three-star Fireball is going to be different than a one-star Fireball and that case I probably would either increase or decrease the damage.

However some are not so straightforward such as [crazyabe]'s warp ability but I would probably buff or nerf how many spaces it goes forward. So even that was a little bit simpler.

Acce's counter I might adjust about how much damage it can reflect.

So if you just wanna do those things then just say so otherwise if you want to specify something else, that's fine too.

I'm not sure it matters too much. (Mine is the sole 'mixed' vote, currently there, and so far I've not seen anything terribly wrong with presentation on either platform.)

But if it's a future development thing, I habitually use my 'phone' (tablet) in landscape mode.

There appears to be enough interest to fill up Skull Speedway on Bay 12 alone.

However since I do not wish to increase the player limit...

And I want to grow Skull Speedway's presence across multiple forums...

I think the best thing to do, may be to exclude Bay 12 from Skull Speedway 2. Which is what I plan to do.

Since I am planning this, and all remaining players of this session are on Bay 12 there's no real reason to wait to begin the next game, now.

To clarify, anyone is welcome to go to another site and play there, but Bay 12 will probably join Skull Speedway 3 after both games finish.

All that being said, what websites do you recommend?
I am considering: Sufficient Velocity, Space Battles, GameFAQs

I played Shadstyle's most recent "Darkness redeemed" on Space Battles, the people who were from there lasted 2-3 weeks, then mostly stopped posting... While the bay 12 imports lasted several Months.

So I Don't exactly Recommend 'em.

Red Pass
The new shortcut that is red is special. To access it you need a token. A sponsor can drop a token on the track for anyone to get like a cashbag. A driver can only use the shortcut once.

Tokens
A sponsor can get a token in these ways:
Cashbag: Someone crashes trying to get to the spot.
Bounty: Target is destroyed.
Bidwar: A driver may sell their tokens. But if they choose to do this they must allow it to go to the highest bidder. (Driver, announce the sale publicly)
Addit: Only 1 token will be given per round maximum, to the highest price mission's creator, if more than one qualify.

Shaken not Stirred
Crashes will now deal all their damage non fatally. If your vehicle is destroyed you can walk to the exit. Other drivers can run you over.

For Same Spot Shots, Chainfire will only activate if the guess was accurate.

Sponsors you can create a new mission each turn. It can be the same as a current one also.

Welcome Gum.

As you can see I've asked our star players from other forums to come here for now. Gum was playing on a private board and Kerwin was mostly emailing and texting. I want to make sure at all action are viewable. Even for sponsors(even if they do choose to spoiler it I feel there's a fairness to doing it this way).

I fully expect them to go back to GameFAQs (https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/2000115-roleplaying-and-fanfiction/75323158). Though Wii may stay here.

If they're particularly creative they may appear as banners in the game pictures or other fun stuff I think of.

If you I have an idea for how the logo should look go ahead and post a drawing or describe it otherwise I'll come up with something if needed.

Also if you want to post any new missions. Even if you have one active right now you can post one this turn so you'll have something on the next turn.

Man I've been having so much fun with this. Now there's a term "umbrella of grace". Which means sometimes you have to throw up bad ideas to get decent ideas to then get okay ideas to then get a great idea. So appreciating that whole process here is what's getting me kind of excited.

Totally going to rewrite reviving system but it's going to definitely have echoes of the current system.

Also each driver will have one main sponsor. All other sponsors are secondary and they will earn less.

Okay so here's the reviving system 2.0.

When a racer dies. All of their sponsors get to come up with most interesting and slightly messed up ways to revive them. I will choose the most interesting and that person gets to be the drivers new main sponsor.

Addit: also the reviving method should have something to do with the company's sales background.

I'll give you a million bucks sign on bonus to anyone who starts a company this game.



The body of Yokan will go on sale after the race. You can purchase it if you want to revive him to have dibs next time he races on being his main sponsor(I'm pretty sure he's going to want to race again).

Because he did not have insurance that means he went brain dead after being impaled. This will mess with his memory and personality most of all.

When you do choose to revive him you must submit a method that involves your company's specialty, and addresses how you will repair his impaled body and give him life. Via science, magic, whatever. If it's sufficiently twisted then you will be able to place a bid on the body.

They also have been working on messing around with the souls of animals and humans in their most secret of research labs and have in fact found quite a few interesting things. Best of all though, no one has actually died from their top secret experiments...yet...

Karasu Inc registered. 1,000,000 credited to your account.

Driver accounts will be temporary. You can buy things at the end of the game like upgrades to your portrait.

The money you win as a driver is essentially a high score.

Company profits will be persistent however.

Edit: Actually you do keep the money as a driver I should say you do not start with any when you start a new race.

As it causes some confusion I've adjusted how the charge spots and repair spot are displayed and hopefully it helps. So now the thing to know is the idea is to move between the two spaces one of those red icon touches at a speed of 1. Better?

Stunts
You can now do tricks for cash. Describe your turn in a stunt-like-way. You will take +1 damage from any source this turn.
Fail a corner: +1000
Die: +5000
Succeed a corner: +15,000
Succeed attack: +15,000
Get a lap: +50,000
Get a kill: +250,000
Description Multiplier: ×1, ×2, ×3
Speed Multiplier: ×1.X

New Mission Type: Taunt
Sponsors can now challenge drivers to pull off a stunt. The most impressive gets the prize. If someone takes damage while doing a stunt, the sponsor gets a token.

Like a crash, nitro damage will NOT ever kill the driver.

You may create one of each mission type per turn now. If there are duplicate missions the largest reward is the one that's posted. You may wish to put your missions in a spoiler, sponsors.

Crossfire
If a target is missed and another driver ends on the space, they have a 1/3 chance to be hit.
Doesn't stack with an already building chainfire but does start a new one.

This will now always happen with ram.

The shock status condition of ram has been removed.

Priority Strike
In general it is more advantageous to move many spaces before a ram, and few spaces before using a range shot. This affects priority in some cases.

Response Time
If you post your turn in 12 hours or less, there is a 1/6th chance you will block the first point of damage you receive.
If you post your turn after 24 hours, there is a 1/6th chance you will take double from the first point of damage you receive.

Mine Maneuvering
If a driver moves over another player's mine going 4 speed or higher there is a 1/6 chance it will detonate.

Mines and Specials will now have only one charge max.

You recharge your mine by moving 1 space and not taking damage.

Performance Pay
There will now be a retroactive driver sign up bonus of $100,000 for new drivers and $250,000 for veterans, as well as a $500,000 boss pay. You sacrifice your cash if you retire though.

Nitro will now reduce all stats to 0 temporarily. They will be restored at the end if your next turn. There is no more permanent damage.

Ivory Industries will collect 1,000,000 each time a company signs up, instead of for racer points.

If you mention that you are thinking about taking a shortcut be sure to clarify you are not at the end. Post your entire action in one block if you want to discuss before or after doing so that is fine but it should all be together in one place everything you would like to do. With no discussion in the middle of it.

Just for the sake of clarity, I wasn't even thinking about the shortcut. To me, the rest of the stuff (after "move X to Y" in bold) was flavour, and "the risk" mentioned was the basic showboating, not the sharp corner that never featured. But I can see how you read it otherwise.

I relied on the bold bit(s) being your guide to my unadorned intentions, but I made up that convention myself, without explaining that an in-paragraph change of mind would have ended with the new intention in bold and any usurped (but mentioned) decisions, become superseded, de-emboldened (or entirely un-emboldened even since laid down as a mere consideration1).  I'll continue to do that, but also take care to remove ambiguity (without excising the flavoursomeness) by rearranging things, perhaps.


Sorry to confuse things. And do poke me if you're not sure what definitive action it is that I intend, under whatever situation I now find myself in.  (Not sure which, but I covered both even whilst leaving you to resolve my small bombshell.)

1 For the benefit of posterity, to later remind me of when/why I made my sillier decisions, to entertain the spectators, etc. And only to be hidden from my fellow competitors, of course, who I trust not to peek.  ;)

 I actually think you do a pretty good job at being clear Starver and I just wanted to recommend some of your tactics to others as they can't really see what you post. Good job so far and you guessed correctly it was the risk part that confuse me.

What a journey!

Just under two months ago, 6 players and 1 game host, 7 people, came together to experience a death race. Casualties were sudden. Survival unstable. Mountains toppled and new ones took their place, others joined in.

This was very much a "beta" following the alpha, with tweaks made up until the last turn. I have been made to know you want more. I think I want more too...

So, anyway, I like that final map with the tracks (and trajectory).  I had been keeping my own map (at least until the earthquake damage! :P), and I'd added intertwining trails (making each preceding turn-layer more transparent) in the colour of the competitors.  (Not quite the same colours as you eventually settled upon, I took my cue from the character artworks and we made slightly different choices for dots, but it helped disentangle the initial "everyone upon the same stretch of track", like the fading-into-transparency disentangled the temporal aspects as well.)And I'd tried to keep a track of shots (lines whose hues gradiented from firer colour to (intended) firee), but as I often only knew who had launched an attack, not towards where...  I think you provided that information towards the end, but the map change had led me to abandon the project by then.

Oh, and then there were other splashes of colour, but I really ought to stop waffling.  Let's just say that I very much like the final format. Though would make the trails player-colour coloured, and perhaps the base colour of the latest 'number roundels' likewise, for the easy early-game differentiation I mentioned.

And now, perhaps, most of the mechanics have settled down through our ongoing trials.  Slightly disconcerting to suddenly find new and altered mechanics (and maps!) half-way towards an previously pre-planned trajectory round those damnable curves..  :P  Still, if I didn't know where I might be forced to move to in two, three or four moves' time, then surely I was going to be unpredictable in the eyes of my opponents! Well, mostly,

(An additional game mechanic I was expecting was that there'd be acceleration limits, and maybe deceleration ones, but a longer and more sweeping course would be needed to make full use of that. Plus maybe additional vehicle stats for how quickly the respective pedals could be put to the metal, if it's not linked to Handling. An otherwise slow vehicle getting up to speed (and capable of later braking prior to corners and 'collection points', rather than zoom-and-crawl-and-zoom) might have been a useful feature for John Doe's progress...  But it wouldn't be the most useful rebalancing mechanism on this course, probably.)

I don't know how much of this resonates with my fellow players.  Was I playing too analytically to make it fun to play against?  I wasn't even trying to 'win' (just not to lose too badly, while still pushing my luck on appropriate corners).  And obviously I was a little remiss at playing for the monetary reward aspect...

I should have tried to shoot the Bosses more, though, and I didn't feel like attacking John Doe. Especially once I thought it likely I'd crash and I ought to leave another normal player to finish the Boss off.   Does that make tactical sense?

Otherwise what's the point?

An example might be farther shooting range attacks that are less accurate. Or only close range attacks that are more powerful.

You will have one less default brake point, meaning you can only slow down one space.

All but one of the players who kept posting after about the first... Month or so? were all Bay12 imports who LITERALLY Just followed the game there because of how awesome it could be, which Screwed with how Shade had to run things, which eventually lead to the game being basically dead because people either had (A) Real life issues, or (B) Saw the game die to 1 update per month and couldn't put up with the pace.


Really, I've just got a Slight bit of an issue with their players.

Hell, if you don't believe me here (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=144933.0/)'s the original game, just look at how many players went from here to there.

Welp, maybe it takes to Dwarf Fortress players to have the patience for this kind of game.

My experiences with SpaceBattles hasn't been all bad. I had another game that didn't get much signups but the activity there was pretty consistent so maybe it's kind of hit and miss maybe I'll give them another shot in the future.

I'm surprised anyone regularly interacting with TVTropes has time to do much else. I don't even have change privileges and I have to be careful not spending hours expanding every collapsed folder to read and building up a plethora of linked-to-pages on other browser tabs. ;)

Anyway, take your time. I'm on a (set of) slow connection(s) for a couple of days, and it doesn't hurt forum use, but does discourage my checking things every 30 seconds..!

Welcome to the race.

You are about to compete in a cross forum racing competition. This is a mix of point earning and elimination play. If you survive, the game may last up to a couple months. Just, if not more likely, you may be soon destroyed. At which point you will be removed as a competitor but will be welcome to spectate and may even be encouraged to do so.

To keep the total length of the game down you will be encouraged to take your move swiftly. There will be discrete benefits if you can manage to take your turn within 24 hours of my posting each update. Or at least getting your turn in before I make my update.

If you do not manage to take a turn you will move a random number of spaces and otherwise not act. In this game you are only really asked to choose how many spaces you're going to move and who if anyone you will attack or any other very similar action so do try to get your turn in.

I believe you will find this game is quite simple and straightforward. Instructions will be given as necessary and there will not be too many...

A referee carrying a large bazooka walks out in front of the cars.

Massive stands on each side of the start line are full of roaring fans. There are a lot of Wheelie supporters, and many Hot Thing supporters. But they are wearing orange hats and carrying big styrofoam wrenches and wrench fidget spinners. There are many fans of past racers aswell.


At this time I will open the first spectator activity. You can choose to support anyone on your forum. The sooner you sign up, the earlier you can build points.
Green Team (#12 Wheelie)
Red Team (#88 Natas)
Black Team (#89 Krotas)

If your racer is eliminated, you can then switch.


To begin, all attacks and specials are forbidden. This turn you won't have them. Next turn you won't have them. Then they will be allowed.

Note, and this is a new feature for these races: You technically are able to cheat... Attack when you're not supposed to, take shortcuts that kind of thing. Within the context of the game. If miner you will receive a warning if too severe you may simply be destroyed in the most crowd-pleasing way possible. Usually spectators will get to use their points to make things even. ;)

Your special is not currently charged. To get it charged you need to move over a red skull space at a speed of 2 or less.

This race shortcuts are forbidden, though it is a minor offense. If you wish to take a shortcut be sure to say so before you land on the fork space. The first time you take a shortcut, you will only receive a warning. Note that even if you do not break any rules, eventually spectators may be able to bring more things to bear on anyone. The longer the race last, the more powerful spectators become. ( Hey, You Asked For It! )

Note that it is very dangerous to go around a tight corner at high speeds. Tight corners are the ones where the hex that enters them and hex exiting them are touching each other, making a tight "V". Other corners carry no consequences. If you are going faster than three spaces you may crash. This may cause damage and will limit your movement next turn.

When attacks are enabled there will be ranged attacks that can hit up to two spaces away, ramming attacks for those entering the same space, and mines to drop behind you to those entering the space you are leaving.

You may now move up to your engine in spaces, plus up to 2 in additional spaces. You must move at least one space each turn. with your brakes you will be able to slow down their amount, plus optionally 1 more. All vehicles can move up to 5 spaces per turn. All start at C3(checkered flag) and the course proceeds clockwise.

Post your turn in a spoiler marked with your racer number. Do not look at anyone else's...

The referee bends down on one knee, there's a beeping sound heard from his rocket launcher. A smoke trail shoots up. The grey trail spirals up and up. It can be seen the airplane is flying forward right in its' path...

Suddenly there's an explosion but there's massive fireworks...
A massive television clicks on and you can see the pilot in a parachute holding a sign. . .

Wreckage from the plane is falling straight for the cars.

Under an avalanche of debris, shooting out of the cloud one by one, the vehicles make their escape. The largest fragment nearly crushes Krosas. He hits the gas hard, but before passing Hot Thing she lobs a molten mine down in front of him. It erupts causing him to lose balance! He begins to topple off of his bike, but not before Wheelie slaps down a second mine to send him to oblivion. Airplane shrapnel decisively ends the short chapter on the rider known as Krosas.

A strange, almost electronica whistle blows loudly, being heard far off in all directions and even over the roar of the mad heard of vehicles fighting tooth and claw to get ahead and out of the startzone. Two more riders, one more literal in the term, exit the gate. A black race car swiftly joins the madness. Then taking up the rear, is someone riding a metal ostrich. The judge is after Wheelie.

To fully answer that I need to go into the history of what this game is even before it was a racing game. But the short answer is really anything that makes sense for the world and your characters.

Once upon a time, in a world of war and death, where strange towers and a doomed pit were the backdrop, a place only sustained and balanced by easy come respawns. A world of panic. An arena, a Panic Arena happened.

Potato drops a mine right in the center of the pack, but all manage to maneuver by and pay the threat proper heed. In response, the whistle is blown again.

The judge closes in on Wheelie. As the champ looks back the young man on the ostrich gives a casual wave, then fires some kind of device that latches onto Wheelie's monowheel. The judge makes some hand signs.
Penalty. 1 lap. Engine limited. -2.

The device blinks on: "A1"
It doesn't seem that the device actually affects performance.

You remember to charge your special, simply enter a skull space going at a speed of 2 or less.

Since mines are already so popular... Mines detonate if a player ends on the space you started on, or pass over them at a speed greater than 4.

You can ram someone who ends on the same space as you. If they weigh more damage will be lessened. If you weigh more they may crash. You must specify a target.

You can shoot someone one or two spaces away from the space you end on. Except the last two space you exited. You must specify a target and location.


To obtain more mines, repair damage, or seek brief refuge, attacks on C3(checkpoint) are forbidden. You are allowed to stop here and spend up to 2 turns receiving these services. Your mechanics choose what to prioritize(random/spectators). But you can address them out-of-spoiler.

I don't believe it! Three racers charging their special all at once- all in the same place- this is definitely a record. And definitely a deadly cusp.

Wheelie wiffs a shot and Potato's second mine attempt is evaded.

While it may be strategically beneficial to do it. I ask you do not delay taking your turn intentionally to get the random movement.

If you manage to complete a lap without being skipped at all you gain access to Nitro which you can switch your mines for at the checkpoint.

If you are skipped more than twice each additional time a weak assassin minion will be sent after you. (Up to 2 simultaneous)

Nitro allows you to go a speed of 6. Your risk of crashing around corners is treated like going a speed of 4. You can get more Nitro or swap them for mines at the checkpoint.

To swap back and forth you must complete a lap without your turn being skipped.

To clarify it is possible to attack the checkpoint, but this will be one of the most severe rules to break......

Then a much more local mishap, as Hot Thing spirals off a corner.
Wheelie continues to pepper ahead one shot after another.

While MafiaScum players are probably used to this weekly schedule by now Bay 12 players had been more accustomed to a three or four day period from the previous game. I'm not sure what will happen when I return or who knows if I'm able to be active while I'm gone.

Not noticeably. They always fit quite nicely to the forum width on my browser/my display, and they still do, not perceptively differently.  Going to their imgur source (served as a web-page with bumf around (https://m.imgur.com/QvXG6jA?r), even though "open image in new tab" was selected - an imgur web server thing - then again as "open image as new tab (https://i.imgur.com/QvXG6jA_d.jpg?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=high)", similar, but without the bumf) it looks no better than its looks-ok current style, and even slightly fuzzier (differing scaling technique?).

I've no problem with any of the current images, and had rather assumed that you were saying that you had a update images which had somehow rescaled after committing but prior to posting. And that this was the delay. (Rather than the A.N.Other forum players taking longer to submit turns, or just Life generally getting in your way, either of which is even more excusable, and even less something that we can directly help with, so never mind...)

First. I am REALLY surprised at who stuck around.

1 veteran. 1 former boss. 1 newcomer. 1 former ceo.

I suppose the best way to interpret that is that the game has lasting value to old players, new players and people that participated in the side activities.

The two months has passed. By a lot.

Going forward I decided to keep things accountable so that there will be a champion determined in a predictable amount of time, if there is no update for 7 days then the current leader becomes the champion.

While the Panic Race crew have had technical difficulties stay tuned. We're coming back...

I finished Tick 6, and I wasn't satisfied with it.

When I started this race, it was the culmination of everything that came before. I had refined stats to pixel perfect representations paired alongside the map. That is gone, and it is too disheartening to recreate.

There was so much excitement between players and myself, and I believe that is why we are still here.

There was a series of unfortunate events, and my depression at the sheer thought of trying to regain what was lost because of these things and time has passed.

I will ask you one more time, do you want to continue? I will not be able to start us from where we were when we left off...

I'm game for it, if the game is game for me.

Suggestion about pixel perfection: If you mean what I think you mean, don't fret. And if you maintain a note of the 'state' at each tick (player positions, player stats, etc) you can 'plug them in', at a later date, to any revamped graphics (howeverso manually or automatically you are generating them) and so re-apply tweaked (but informatically identical) images back over all prior images that you weren't 100% happy with.

But it's your baby, with your own heart put into it. I'll work with whatever you do. It's an intriguing game (and, different though it is, reminds me of something like this (https://www.vintagetoys.com/toys/classified/1464), though maybe not that exact version and I've seen horse-racing versions too, which I remember playing when young) and I'm sure we can do it justice (as players) if you give us a chance. And that includes you keeping on with the tweaks, as far as I'm concerned.

The only thing I'd suggest is you make more use of "hurry up" penalties for absentee/forgetful players. Should I fall off the 'net for a week (not impossible; I'm fairly mobilely connected to pick up the slack, but I've had occasional days at a time offline that people here may or may not have noticed), I wouldn't mind (and would expect!) being forced to continue as per my prior moves (give or take GM-calculated randomised changes) rather than holding back play for others. Then you could plan to work on 'moves' every Saturday morning (or whatever time you are usually free) for final finessing and publishing every Saturday evening, and think about your design changes (including further refining your method of penalties!) whilstsoever you can fit it in the rest of the time.  (You could even work out how to use the auto-turn method to run minor-boss and/or zerging 'drone players', just to add more NPC opponents if there aren't enough player-opponents for your liking.)


But that's not to say you need to take any of that as your direction of development, just riffing on my thoughts while I'm posting. I now shall sit back and await anything and everything you actually plan!

Alright guys, Starver, Hellfire, it's down to you two. What we are gunna do is close up shop. A duel is great, but it should be earned(in combat, not just deep lungs). Potato you say you are up for anything. Starver, you're about the races. Well I now know this. I don't know what tomorrow will bring us. But I know two great guys to keep in mind.

Ok, I am going to open a free drive mode while I finish preparing. This is a track where you can drive and shoot, though doing damage will just give points and remove them. So it's just for fun.

This is like a demo / beta, so there will be constant updates.

Actually, 00 is not available... this is a demo race but it isn't the first on this forum. Technicalities I know but the chance to nab 00 is gone, atleast from here. If we expand to another forum you could do a race there though I need you to pick a new one for now. Sorry.

If you think you might be interested but wonder how much participation is required, you are skipped after 3 days, and removed after 3 skips in a row...so 9 days without posting.

You only need to say how many spaces you move. Additionally who to attack and with what weapon.

Thanks for your interest and encouragement. Panic Race 2 is cancelled: we do not have enough drivers on all forums. It is hard, really hard to host a cross forum game, and they can fail. Personally I had a ton of fun just putting it together. Here are the 2 drivers we did get. I hope to see them, and more next time. Goodbye Bay12.
