Apparently, this is now a story about the black mage Astin.

Having had ample time to study the crypt, Astin prepares to head back to town...

((Sorry, I've been really distracted by stuff lately.))

Lyndis walks up, and quietly hails Astin once she's close enough.

"Hello, sir. The bartender in town told me you would be here investigating the... surge in monster activity?"

Since this is quite unfamiliar territory, Lyndis carefully looks around, especially watching her footing. Non-humans trespassing on human sacred ground might be a baaad thing.

((Unless there is a battle sequence I will not be depicting movements, so feel free to continue.))

Astin turns to face right and responds. "Eh? You must have heard wrong. I've done no research of the sort."

"I just fought and killed a troll that had found its way into the local pub. There were no guards, not even clanners. It was... a mess."

Lyndis smoothly walks up, and offers one of the beer bottles to the black mage.

"My name's Lyndis. You're Astin, right? Are you a clanner?"

"I'd say that one monster doesn't constitute a surge."

Astin gestures with his hand to indicate a disinterest in Lyndis's gift.

"I used to have a clan, yes. We had some, lets call them issues I would rather not discuss sober. And I am certainly not inclined to drink out here..."

Lyndis lowers her hand, politely nodding at the glowing yellow eyes just visible under Astin's black hood. She puts the beer bottles in her backpack for now. They might still be useful.

"It's surge enough when they get far enough to threaten lives right in the middle of town," Lyndis points out. "If you're heading back that way... well, there's likely a quest or two at the pub related to all this." She smiled. "And with so few others around... there's much less competition. Would you be interested in cooperating?"

I am not enjoying this game and am just about ready to drop out. Would anyone be disappointed if I did?
