The problem is that the abundant time-skips leaves little room to allow these plots to develop.

You need something to timeskip to, you can't just fix everything with timeskips.
I agree we need something like maybe a mysterious murder/missing people or maybe a normal somehow gets lost in the maze. Or perhaps some risks of breaking masquerade from the norms because that seems to be just a running gag.
