Okay.  I'll pm you the link to the google doc where I'm currently working on it, feel free to make suggestions and comment on the proceedings.  You will have editing privileges, so feel free to add things if you think they will work.

Edit: Watching an anonymous gopher scroll through my document is amusing.

Oh, and pisskop, I'll get back to the google doc when I can, I'm just currently not able to access it from my ipad (or at least access it easily).

Does anyone have any idea why mafia games in general are getting longer? The first several pages most games were under 300 replies, then it gradually climbs up to now where several have over 1000 replies.

Has anyone else just noticed how good a drama series Real Life mafia would be?
So a group of 10 random schlubs with a glint in their eye get put into a big house and told their own alignment, the Mafia can perform a night kill every game day (3-5 real life days), all inhabitants of Mafia tower have recreational activities and can go anywhere inside the house except for breakfast, lunch and dinner where they have to be present, to ask and answer questions.

At the end of each game day, all participants are to either present a lynch victim or abstain from voting, If someone is voted off, everyone is presented their role.

That's actually an interesting idea. Would the prize be shared among the winning faction? Dead people included or not? Wouldn't this give, say, a serial killer an insane monetary advantage in a game balanced for online play?

I thought about the prize, and came upon the realisation that people would want to take all of it for themselves, naturally.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Perhaps not, however.
Course, the rules of mafia aren't set in stone, so perhaps there might just be no serial killer.

Sounds like a modified version of Big Brother, but actually entertaining and far less arbitrary or pop-culture based.

I approve.

I'm sure if you gave it to the people who produce reality TV they'd fine a way to make it tedious and unenjoyable, but it's a very fun concept.

Seems reality shows are supposed to be fun for the player, not the audience.

Terrible reality TV mafia needs to be a forum mafia setup.

How to win: earn the most money (or be in the top 3 or something).  Completing one's wincon gives a large, but not overwhelming, amount of money.

Everyone has a post restriction, forcing them to behave according to their assigned personality (ultra-kind, arrogant, Org, etc.).  If they don't, they lose money.  In addition, force the players to complete (often ridiculous and/or counterproductive) challenges throughout the game to get money.

Another point: every day, there has to be some game-changing desperately made attention-grabbing gimmick.

Finally, PMs are allowed and strongly encouraged.

So it's a Mafia game that entices everyone to act like a jester?

I'd play.

Alright, I'll start seriously planning it out.  Perhaps I'll even finish and run it eventually.
