Or you could use a hack to grant you invulnerability and increase the amount of damage you deal?

I've killed one of those guys, and predictably, they don't drop anything. Not even gibs.

Huh, you'd think they wouldn't have bothered removing the "gibs" code from skeletron's head. Who knew.

I'm fairly certain it just sets your HP to zero, also he kind've hovers on top of you if not which would mean about 10k damage ever ycouple of seconds.

Besides that's the easy way out.  8)
Nah. I'm fairly certain doing 9999 damage is easier than coding in a separate damage thing for it. It makes more sense to.

Quote from: Terraria wiki
Skeletron is a Boss enemy that guards a world's Dungeon. If you enter the Dungeon before killing him, Dungeon Guardians will attack, causing 9999 damage, effectively killing the player with one hit.

That's what the wiki says.

If you had enough people (lots), ad a ton (lots and lots) of time couldn't you just deconstruct the dungeon slowly, making stuff easier to avoid and/or find?

I mean, you'd die a ton, but if you made a spawn right next to dungeon it might work.

I thought they made the Dungeon indestructible after a certain point if you havn't destroyed Skeletor.

I thought you just needed a demonite pickaxe.

EDIT: Holy shit. Ladies and gentlemen, the Lord British Postulate in action.

That was awesome. I need to find some floating islands to grabble some harpies and thus feathers...

By the by, is that sword made of swords better than the murmasa?

That depends. Is 42 better than 18? Yes. Is the speed better? No, but it's not that much worse. Is the knockback better? Much. Is the light effect better? I'm fairly certain it is (don't have either atm, so can't check). Range is about the same.

Basically, the Night's Edge is the best sword in the game, bar none.

Although it's worth noting it doesn't have the autoattack like muramasa does.

And considering how the Muramasa is good enough for anything currently in the game, IMO autoattack > pretty much everything. The only other weapon I use is the Phoenix blaster.

However, also also worth noting is that overkill is the best kill.

I don't really see why autoattack would make you use a sword which is statistically worse. It isn't like clicking the button is hard, and you can automate even that fairly easily.

I can't stand mindless clicking fest. I so much hate it that I tend to use mostly axe/hamaxe/pick before I get Muramasa.

Good for you if you don't mind the clicking and thus use better weapons. Won't change a thing about my preference and opinion however.
