so, extract .09 into the .07 inside lazynewbpack. then update to the newest phoebus graphics or somesuch..? I'm not really worried about any of my saves. would that work? I'm just going to follow your instructions and see what happens.

If the graphic package were updated, then you're good to go.
If you want to ensure they are, look in their own raws ex : ...\Phoebus 0.34.0Xv00\raw\objects. file item_tool.txt should contain wheelbarrow and carts as their last item. if they don't here's my update recipe :

1. Copy the .09 raws (...\Dwarf Fortress 0.34.09\raw\objects) in the LNP graphic package raws (...\LazyNewbPack Advanced [0.34.09] [V12]\LNP\Graphics\Phoebus 0.34.07v00\raw\objects)
2. Run LNP, switch to this graphic package.  If you don't do it, the DF raws and your savegames raws will be overwritten with .07 data which doesn't have wheelbarrow and carts.

I put the new .09 in my newb pack folder, copied my saves folder into the data folder and used the newbpack to install the graphics. I had to rename the folder to Dwarf Fortress 0.34.07 but everything seems to work okay.

DFhack didn't start with DF like it usually does. I was going to try stonesense but it's not working. I don't know what all to move over and rename to make it work. I'll just play without it for a while. Dwarf therapist said it updated something or other and fired right up which was kewl..

That way I wouldn't have to bug you to update the OP as well... if I ever update it >.>

It's sad, but probably the only thing stopping two of my friends from trying to play dwarf fortress for the first time evar, is the lack of a lazy newb pack with minecarts.

...and I am inept, apparently, and can't  put together the necessary changes for them.

Ever since I started using it, I can't stand to play without it. I hate all the finagling I once took for granted. The LNP just makes things so easy, so pleasant, so... lazy.

It's a drug. Maybe it should come with a warning label.

I love Lazy Newb as much as the next guy but is it really that hard to download your graphic pack of choice, therapist, and DFHack, and throw the three together on your own?
