Title: Eco: Save the planet from YOURSELF! (And an asteroid)
Post by: PTTG?? on February 14, 2018, 02:39:56 pm
http://store.steampowered.com/app/382310/Eco/

Standard I-didn't-make-this disclaimer.

There's definitely something to be said for this game. It's oddly compelling just from the crafting perspective, has an actual non-ugly aesthetic, and the long-term goal of not getting destroyed by an asteroid gives the building, mining, and crafting a nice sense of direction.

Forsaken1111 is setting up a server. PM them for server and discord access.

The server is "Bay12 Eco Server."

I remember reading about this way back before it was actually released into open Early Access, and was intrigued by the concept of "Minecraft, but with climate and ecosystem simulation". The concept of having a multiplayer community try and balance expansion with pollution and resource management struck me as a very interesting and also hysterically doomed idea.

The addition of the meteor struck me as... Rather tacked-on. From what I've read, the timer is also quite unforgiving and can't be adjusted. I've also head some complaints about the skill system, calling it a bit too restrictive in that it effectively limits players to specific niches if they want to get anything done. Not much an independent player can do on his own. I mean, that could be quite fun; I've always liked "communal" games in the sense of multiple cogs working together to achieve something greater. I guess I'm just not used to Minecraft being one of those games, heh.

But it's really just conjecture, as I haven't actually played it myself as of yet.

Space Engineers tried meteor storms as a game mechanic. It never added much interesting gameplay, just punshed progress because the safest thing to do was to sit quietly in a cave

So it's a Minecraft clone with 30-day world cycles, and strong incentives to interact and cooperate with your community as you work towards common goals so that you can 'win' when your cycle ends.

Neat.
The $30 price tag feels a bit high for an Early Access small-developer game...but the reviews look solid, so I could get into it if there was enough interest from this community.

The asteroid timer can be modified. I find it an interesting idea -- save the environment from an asteroid without destroying the environment. It's not random; it's 30 days by default. It doesn't end the game outright (although it does ruin the ecology).

Apparently there are other ideas in the pipeline, too. Currently there's no real combat (there's hunting, but none of the animals are threats yet), but there are apparently plans for other existential threats. I for one would find it interesting to start in an ice age.

Huh this looks really cool. The economic side is extremely interesting though, what with creating currency and such. I kinda wanna play it just to become an evil rich dictator and doom the world.

Hey, Eco thread. Just what I've been waiting for. If there were a server, I would probably play on it. I'll throw out an offer to host as well if PTTG?? ends up unable to.

I'm curious if you gain skill points while offline. In a single player setting, you're playing for all 720 hours. Multiplayer, you're not.
Title: Re: Eco. Minecraft made by Germans. Server perhaps?
Post by: deoloth on February 15, 2018, 07:34:02 am
I haven't played it since early alpha, so any knowledge I have may now be incorrect.

Skill points were slowly gained over time, but you had to eat to maintain the rate at which you got them. More nutritious food, the better the skill gain.

Multiplayer is balanced so it would be hard for someone to be able to do everything skillwise, I think singleplayer is the same way at the moment but is getting rebalanced looking at the current patch notes.

Kind of tedious. It's basically multiplayer without the other people, and the server is only running when you're playing.

I played this with friends in the past, and unfortunately, probably won't be playing more of it unless they make some pretty big changes. The whole real-time skillpoint gain(like in eve online) system ruins it for some of us. You'd hop on the server, do whatever work you need to do to make sure others have what they need for today, spend skillpoints, and then you have no purpose, there's nothing to do because nothing you do past what's needed means anything since progress is real-time. Without the skill system you blow right through everything in no time flat, it only serves to stretch out what little content the game has. It doesn't feel like a real game, aside from maybe building for the sake of building, there's no reason to do anything once you've met your quota, feels like those limited daily playtime korean or cellphone games with artificial minecraft flavoring. :/

Even the whole premise, eco-friendliness, doesn't matter too much. Since you've got no reason to over-produce, unless you're on some server with a ridiculous amount of people, you're not really going to wreck the planet as long as you don't do anything obviously stupid like completely strip the world of a certain plant. Speaking of stupid, pollution code is linked to the block coordinate system. Once we found out the smithing byproducts that were sent to a stockpile were spreading pollution through the ground, we tried a few things and it seems that if you put it in a cart, it stops affecting the world since the cart is not a block and therefore not part of its coordinate system. The carts were getting filled up and would be in the way so what did we end up doing? We dumped them all into a deep river with no adverse effect... :|

Test server is up and running. The intention is to make sure the tech works, to get a group of players together, and to experiment with the game.

Later, I intend to restart the server and/or move it to a better internet connection. Along the way, we'll probably add a mod or two (clay's toolkit?) and set up some baseline rules.

As of now, the server is in anarchy mode and it's a very large 200x200.

PM me for access info, I'll be back in an hour or two.

Forsaken and I played for a bit. I'm just tooling around with the tutorial again but I'm already liking the map more than the one in my singleplayer world.

While trying to get to Forsaken's place from my spawn point, I fell into a canyon. Twice. It's kind of hard to navigate at night.

So do we have a new server up yet?

When PTTG's server fell through yesterday, I jumped on some random empty server and murdered a few trees and dug some tunnels to get a feel for the basics. Definitely looking forward to starting for real now.

Someone tried to start up a new currency to surpass Shooer Coins.  I now control the majority of this currency as well.  You can call me the Coaletariat.

Forsaken you need to get back on and mint more money if you want other people to use it.

Version 7.2.0 is going to be coming out ~March 6. We'll probably have blown the meteor out of the sky by then. Looks like it brings a lot of neat things, though.

I minted some more this morning for continued circulation.

  • Massive worlds. Ours is ~.5km2. The new version should support close to 16km2.
  • Stat collection, meaning we can bog things down with bureaucracy.
  • Mods, though it'll probably be a while before they start coming out.
neat! For the new server I'll probably up the collaboration setting so its much more difficult to be a jack of all trades. For this server I wasn't sure what our population would look like so I didn't want to over do it on difficulty. If we have a core of 3-5 people who play often we can set it to low/medium collaboration and still cover most things between us, though it will take longer.

Next time I'd also like us to plan out a town and be less spread out if possible.

Interesting concept, to have a survival gameplay with an actual goal.

I wonder if it would be possible to mod in more fantastical elements as well as further survival goals, working it into something like Terraria's hardmode after defeating the wall of flesh. Don't bother with combat/adventure, but maybe some exploration elements into something like the corruption, enticement perhaps being necessary resources to unlock research.

Damn this interface, though. Why allow you to move all the elements except the hotbar? At least the chat window can be hidden. Didn't think to check how limited the keybinding options are.

Since it seems we have some good interest in this we can probably do a server with lower skill point gain.

I want to wait until the next version for a reset, at a minimum. I'd like to be more organized as well, so we could sign up for roles and specializations early so we don't overlap too much. Would anyone like to volunteer to be the labor foreman? We'll need someone to organize everything.

My brother is on a trip, but he will likely join in soon. So you can add him to your potential population number.

I kinda think we could do with skill gain on normal, would encourage us more to decorate our homes to increase skill gain as well, plus as far as I can tell we are not even using contracts.

I would not mind if we get a little bit of a bigger world. Maybe up it to 1km or 1.5km?

I would like a central town/city, good for area's of commerce, but generally I make a point to setup a bit out of the way. We could have people a fair bit out of town establish contracts to connect roads to them, once we get a standard currency going.

Calories are just energy you consume when doing any action. They are part of the same system that generates skill points, but the calories themselves have no direct effect on skill points.

Each time you eat, your stomach's nutritional values average closer to the nutritional values of what you are eating. Daily skill point gains are based on the sum of your nutritional values, multiplied by how well balanced the 4 nutritional categories are, and then adjusted by the server's skill gain rate. So to get the most skill points possible you need to focus on eating both high-nutrient foods and a balanced variety of foods. In particular this should be done before you log off for a while.

We may consider, for the next server, making the password publicly available at the top of the thread or something. That will get more people in without complete randos who just saw the game on the server browser. Then we can have more people to participate in the economy and such.

I also recommend we make good use of the law system to limit the server to just one kind of currency early on. I'm not completely clear how the law interface works, but I bet it's possible to elect someone as treasurer and prevent anyone else from minting currency. Otherwise maybe we can just make our first currency and then prevent anyone from creating a new currency.

On that note, is there a trick to proposing laws? I've been trying to propose a law on the current server which designates a district just to try it out, but it keeps telling me the form isn't completely filled and I can't tell why.

Quote
Solar Generator cost changed from (1 steel) to (15 steel, 5 servos, 5 circuits)
Wind Turbine cost changed from (10 iron) to (20 steel, 10 gearboxes, 10 circuits)
Thats going to take a bit longer, lol.

Fair bit of other notes, plus lots of plant life changes. Players will also start with the basic tools in their bag instead of gaining through the tutorial.

I'm working on it now. Are you joining us in the new server? You're welcome to, I wasn't sure why you left

No, I've kind of gotten sucked into other things. Thanks.
No worries. You're welcome back later if you decide to rejoin.

Anyone else who wants to join, you can. Just PM me for the details

Anyone who had joined the server, we had to reset with a smaller map. Despite the update's claims of optimizations and the ability to run up to 16km maps, it lagged too badly even on a 9km map. We dropped it down to 4km and it is back up now.

Spoilers, man.  :P

I bought this 2 days ago and I enjoy it. Devs seem interested in making a fun game, and I can tolerate it a lot more than Wurm Unlimited, a billion times more than Wurm Online, makes more sense to me than playing multiplayer Minecraft in random servers (which I never did, actually), and overall I like it more than similar games.

I'm currently playing on this server (https://ecoservers.io/server/584/), just because it had the most players with the earliest day.
It'll soon get wiped and start over and I might hop back in there. Very High Specialization, nice folks.
But if Bay12 gets populated and active it would be great too.

Can you send me the Discord so I can keep informed? Is it Low Spec/High Spec and runs any mods?  :P
I'm 3 days into the game so I'm kind of a noob, but I did manage to get settled and find my way around a crazy high pop server.

And thanks for the invite!

The server that is up now uses the medium collaboration setting so the skill gain is I guess moderate. I didn't customize the skill numbers beyond the preset except to add a very low (0.001 or so) skill point gain on craft time to reward people for making stuff.

Oh that's great, then. I played on Very High Collaboration, and you really have to be in the mood to play like that.. It becomes more like Wurm Online in which you have to invest it all in doing 1-2 things for DAYS if you want to progress with any speed, and if no one is online to restock the stuff you need, you'll waste a lot of time and resources..

Once server resets I'll join up (and bring gf if that's alright).  :D

Soooo I became a mod for the game's Discord almost at the same time as I was confirming the purchase of my Developer Founder Pack.
With devpack it means I can at least giveaway one copy here, but I'd really prefer for it to be for someone who's into it and won't forget about it a second after getting it.  ::)

As I find my way around all the new stuff that exploded in my face, and try to find out how to actually send someone a copy through the website, I'm announcing the giveaway already.
I'll use random.org as usual around 9 AM PST [13 PM BRT to me], hopefully by then I can quickly give it out.  :P

And of course you'd be free to join me and my group of players on the server I'm on and having a blast, we'll set you up if you so desire.
I recommend playing singleplayer first otherwise you'll be lost like me.  :P

After I spent over 250 USD [which is about 700+ BRL] on this, and if you ever seen my post about sandbox early access games, aand if you trust the opinon of unknown people from the internet...you may have a glimpse that it's worth it.  :P
Definitively not for everyone, by the simple fact its not a PvE or PvP game. But those who like Minecraft and Wurm are bound to like it, if you like both probably bound to like it a lot.

Title: Re: Eco. Minecraft made by Germans. SERVER INDEED!

Nice! :D I'm not sure actually, but there's a config/server tab only for Disasters, and the only entry there is the meteor. Same thing applies for atmosphere and other planet/generation parameters, that seem to be moddable or made in a way that more stuff can be added over time and changed/configured.
I haven't looked at any code or informed myself a lot yet, but it's easy to see it's being built from the ground up to make adding more content (through modding or otherwise) easy. Still have to validate this though

Had a quick play of Eco just now, played about 37 minutes if the big old rock in the sky is accurate. Although I had to tweak the settings to get a stable FPS (shadows killed it, was getting 6-7 fps when night was falling, turned them down and bam 33fps). Okay All I did was chop a few trees and dig a small hole but I enjoyed that.

I also accidentally bought one extra copy and donated to the server I play in, in which the server admin does his best to deal with unstable mods that people want to use..which gives him lots of trouble.
To be honest it was probably 210-215 USD , since I pay in BRL I derp when converting.

Also, in celebration of having a blast playing the game due to having accidentally bumped into 2 df players and only discovering about it days later, and in celebration of being a n00b and buying one extra unnecessary copy, I'll be giving away 2 copies.  :P

I've looked into it more since I posted. It seems super interesting. Gabeux, how does the government stuff play out in practice? I can see that being pretty interesting if there was a criminal justice system of some sort implemented. Or even opposing polities. Also, how deep does the simulation go when it comes to pollution? Is there a way to clean up polluted areas? And what kind of impacts does pollution have?

Glloyd, I'll postpone replying reply to you in full because I'm heading to bed, but a couple hours ago I won the world leader election in the server. As an Early Access game, stuff is still placeholder, and there's no government system other than taxes, Treasury&allocation, currency minting and a leader who has power over all that (except minting can be done by the public, every server takes on it differently), but gov system and criminal system are on the roadmap and will be made.

If you are curious what kind of things can happen with the systems that are in place, please just read my declaration of insanity.. government? Here:
https://pastebin.com/yPhh9num (https://pastebin.com/yPhh9num)
Feel like joining in, yet? We have Magic Beans as our currency. And I hold the Mint. In my basement. With an excavator next to it and a crazy dorf digging to the planet core watching it.

Pollution can kill plant life and make the world look horrible, which in turn kills your hope in humanity and the animals, which will in parallel raise co2 levels and cause climate change/greenhouse effect making the sea levels raise which will make the noobs who built houses at the beach to finally take the need of a government serious. It's very deep AND wide for an early access game.

I doubt this works as a singleplayer game, however. Even for 2 player coop, like Wurm Unlimited I had to customize server files to make it make sense. Gameplay still fun, but playing with other people is what it was designed for and shines at. Buying it for singleplayer should be a crime. That just gave me an idea for a law...

Reminder that I'll be giving away two copies of the game in about 6-7 hours. I've stayed up til 7am organizing the government transition so I may wake a little late, but will do the giveaway first thing after waking up via random.org.
Only rule is the default one, no lunatics unless you write a 30 line dissertion about what this game means to you.

EDIT: Turns out I replied to you in full without passing out.
EDIT2: Fixed link

Just announcing that the server I play on will go through a wipe very soon, and since I was able to build up a group of around 10 very nice people I met in-game, I'm again going overboard with it and once it wipes, we'll go try to build a city with pre-planned plots and so on..basically I'm trying to gather people to do what those games are designed for: doing cool shit through organization and planning. Last round everyone did what they wanted/thought was best and then we ended up with places looking brutally paved with just enough space for traffic, having to slice houses to make room for roads:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I plan on making a video with my AAR on my first playthrough along with adding some bits of a review about the game, if time allows. Will be difficult for me to speak in english on the mic, as it's not my first language and always feel awkward, but oh well..

Here's the server with all the info. Not wiped yet, though: https://ecoservers.io/server/584/
If you behave like a dorf it shouldn't be long until I invite you to the illuminati Glorious Bean Co-Op. If anyone wants to stick together and get a plot of land [5x5] or two (or more) in our city, share resources/crafting/etc, you're invited.

As a leader, economy and organization-wise I base myself on the way Dwarf Fortress goes, with people working together and becoming a self-sufficient group instead of doing everything through currency and capitalism. So the money is used when people within the group don't trust each other to give access to their land, or no one in the group can do a certain thing, so we buy/outsorce it. Ideally though, it's Communism Dwarf Econ. Of course, everyone is free to go do or play with/wherever they want, and they can (and should) have their own private property/house/workshop, since the communal crafting spot will probably eat resources like crazy.

The reason for DF-econ is mostly because capitalism is way too damn slow for my taste at the moment, and probably works better at very high pop very high activity servers. If all Stores are out of Boards and no Carpenter is on, I have to wait 6-24h for it. Not what I want out of the game atm.

hmu on Discord [ Gabeux#1309 ] as I'm on there actively.

Capitalism is way to slow if SP gain is slow and collaboration is high. The server I was playing on had upped the SP gain a bit and was medium collab, and there was a pretty thriving economy. There was even a currency war for a bit, as one currency had runaway inflation, so most people jumped ship to another. I think I'd prefer Dwarf Econ, but it was pretty fun to be the lumber king for a bit.

Hey, played a bit when this was first released but kind of backed out since it was just so buggy, at least on my end (falling through ground regularly and having to reconnect, government and graphs flat out not working, general lag spikes), and was a bit curious how it was looking now that we're a bit further out from the initial release. Any thoughts?
Title: Re: Eco. Minecraft made by Germans. SERVER INDEED!
Post by: Gabeux on April 29, 2018, 02:42:57 am
Well I've put 4-5 full days "modding" [simple changes, but lots of files] and integrating mods to make my own modpack, so I can say its pretty fun and engaging.
There's still some rough edges, but takes a good while to bump into a bug. They are also hiring/implementing some sort of QA process so it seems that its getting less buggier.
I've been reporting bugs and issues and one of my reports was fixed in a day and released on the minor patch that was released on the next. So I'm all okay.

Graphs not working I dunno, you can check mine here (http://4.31.168.78:28200/).. If you were on a MP server, might have been because the server admin disable the graphs [aka stat-tracking] because it's a common workaround for db issues (that causes instabilities and kicks/disconnects or crash loops), although my server has been running for around 3 days with plenty of mods and some people trying to break it purposefully and no issues.

What I do agree is that the needs more content. They said they plan on adding more content every 2 weeks.
After 3 good runs I'm pretty sure one will have seen what there is to be seen. But I'm 250h+  in  (played 2 full playthroughs and 2 halfway through it) and I still have fun.
Of course, a lot of that is probably due to me being interested in taking part of the development very closely, even reading the source code so maybe one day I can make my own decent mods or even features/fixes.
Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but definitely worth a try for those who like Minecraft / Wurm or even DF, given that I'm pretty sure they based the way population pools work from DF.

The server I go on only has trouble about a week into gameplay after people have built large homes and mines. Economy viewer is the worst though, pretty much the first to lag to a standstill.
Its a fun game but the devs need to do a lot more work if a server is to last beyond the meteor's destruction. Corrupted chunks cause some real issues too.

Yeah, we had an issue that whenever the server would restart, any cart that had been recently moved would duplicate, and you would be unable to remove it. There's definitely a lot of bugfixing to do.

Oooh, an update!

edit: It has updated again, is the server still on or have we moved on from this game?

More updates :)

My server is still up (https://ecoservers.io/server/3457/) (although it's a public one) and I just updated my modpack (https://eco-mods.com/resources/glorious-bean-modpack.69/).

This game shows some real promise. The idea of the server being wiped, either by solving the issue or by the planet being destroyed, is great by itself, but the eco system thing really makes this game unique.

It's a bitch to play solo, I'll tell you that.

There's been a couple of updates, and 0.8 is coming out on the 6th.

I've been thinking it'd be nice to get back into it. I spent a lot of time in the vaguely medieval age, it'd be nice to spend some time in a more contemporary era. Maybe to see a more citylike approach rather than a lot of distant compounds.

Liquid Nitrogen is produced from nothing but steel (presumably because it's condensed from air into the can). It is technically a food, and according to the wiki  (https://eco.gamepedia.com/Liquid_Nitrogen)provides 0 of every nutrient... but 10 calories.

Since your skill gain is based on the balance of what you've already eaten, does that mean that you can just sit there and drink a lot of liquid nitrogen and stay at level health? There's a couple other things, but this seems to be the only one that uses purely inorganic resources.

I made a spreadsheet. Of the normal, working foods, Stuffed Turkey has the most even nutrient distribution per calorie, so you can fill up quick without trashing your balance. Charred Tomato is the low-rent equivalent.

I was actually just thinking about this the other day. Might be interesting to give it another shot when 0.8 comes out, I haven't played in a while now.

I noticed when I had logged out for a while the nutrient balance will disappear on its own, so you will still have to eat those foods and gain balance. The amount of nitrogen you would have to "eat" would make it a bit silly.

so, caved and bought.

it's interesting. there's lot of padding and busywork, especially at the beginning (i.e. carts using planks) but it seems to clear up nicely later on.

there's a fair share of bugs, like the wheelbarrows seem to go straight only when looking 90deg to the left.

that said the game only comes together only when the asteroid puts some real pressure. I've been on a 120 day server and everyone is basically just speculating on late recipes while building for themselves.

it is also not something one can do casually, you can win factorio playing casually with friends in 3 to 4 sessions, this would take some real commitment and has some real world day time limits, which isn't particularly kind to uncommitted people.

There's stuff that's still unclear to me however, for example it seems everyone needs their own building to benefit from room improvement, you can't have some sort of communal home and benefit from collective work

Yeah you need your own rooms to gain the points from that. if you have an active farmer & cook you can get really good points from food too.

internet says that the bleeding_edge branch now contains the 8.0 for testing.

anyhow. I really like that stuff requires m^2 of housing, it makes for pretty convincing cities on populated servers. the limitation on vehicles of all kind push for roads to houses and working areas and in the end it makes the world feel really alive and interconnected. too bad housing material grows exponentially more expensive. at which point industrialization kicks in and solves the "cut these 50 tree for two blocks of lumber"?

edit: server I was playing disappeared. ugh. the level of commitment to get anywhere makes acutely painful server volatility.

FWIW I plan to start an Eco server up on the new version using the discord I created previously for coordination, but I won't be doing that until I finish my final class around the end of this month. If you're okay with waiting until then you're welcome to join

sounds great, that way maybe we'll also get the first one or two inevitable fixes. we're 3 tho if you don't mind the crowd.

I would gladly join as well whenever that gets started up, as long as I have time for it.

I might be up for it as well, probably would be supplying raw material or maybe lumber once tech happens. Always some use for trees.

0.8 seems that will be really cool. I'm curious about the new Skill system coming up, and how that could affect the game.

I had went hard into Eco, but then stopped doing my modpack due to life stuff, and also because each patch slowly broke mods and a lot of modders went into long breaks or moved on. Would get to a point where I'd end up having to take over other people's mods, which I don't think is nice to do.
All the active players from my server moving on also kinda made me see no point into keeping it going.

I still have a public server running the 0.7.8.9. (https://ecoservers.io/server/3457/) Wiped less than a week ago, and to my surprise there are a few (3-7, not sure) people playing actively or casually. I'm not playing and haven't played in months though.
Feel free to hop on there to check things out, although having a more DF-community server like forsaken runs is probably cooler.
I usually only update to a newer version a week or so after it is released, since the leap to a new major version can get messy. And a side comment on the state of servers, ~6 months ago it was tough for me to get and keep my server in the Top 25 on the EcoServers list. Now it's ranked 5th with me doing pretty much nothing about it.

And I may or may not be low-key helping one of the best Eco modders in developing a game inspired in Rimworld / DF / Rise to Ruins / Prison Architect..

dammit they significantly lengthened the  tier 0 grind, with the small cart behind a star, foliage and branches slowing you down significantly during logging and the new stone mechanics where the stone pick only breaks specific types of stones.

Yeah the 'meta' changed a bunch. And IMO the vanilla values for Experience gain (both Level and Specialization) are borked. And then I tried tweaking it and borked it even further, with people maxing out a spec in a few hours of play.
It's cool to have more content though. Because before I'd just go Mining+Mortaring and dig caves for stone and then turning those caves into rooms. A lot of things felt very cheesy.

And now ramps are 4x1, and when you place one next to another, they connect. Finally. People derped so hard with ramps, since they'd build the whole world based on the width of Dirt and Stone, and then Asphalt had a different width and would always screw everyone's beautiful roads up.

How are the pollution/devastation mechanics working these days? That was kinda the main draw for me in the beginning, but then later it seemed like the meteor took over center stage and reduced the gravity of fucking up the environment.

RIP. We built our house close to a mountain thinking we'd build our good old glorious dwarven mountainhomes, only to hit basalt and never be able to advance.
Good job devs, now we can't build cave rooms so big it crashes the server in the first day anymore.

I don't know if I've posted in this thread before, but I played this game solo a couple updates back. It was a nice, relaxing game of building up my mini town of sorts and setting up mining, logging, and farming operations complete with roads. I even had an elevator down to the mine. I was working on oil production so I could finally get the last bits I needed to blast the asteroid when an update came out that corrupted my savegame. Said update also changed the way skills work which made it much harder to do anything solo, so I kinda stopped playing.

All that said, I figure that multiplayer is the intended method to play anyways, I just can't get my friends to play it, and even if I could it'd be hard to get everyone on at the same time. Otherwise this game looks pretty damn neat. People making voxel based building games should use this game as inspiration instead of the super-blockiness of things such as Minecraft.

How far along is it? New as of 9?

No promises but I might join up a bit if my current diminished gameplay experience can handle it.

New as of yesterday evening. Feel free to drop in if you like. I wasn't sure how many people would join so I have skill gain quite high. I think everything at my camp is public right now so grab anything you need.

This thread was getting dusty, but the game has recently seen a bit of a revival, so I figured I'd invite my Bay12 brethren to our server.

Eco - Ecology and Economy. We started out as a wayward band of player tired of admin abuse and draconian rules, and have since became a tight-knit group of about 7 active players. Our server is currently vanilla, though we plan on adding some QoL mods, and are looking for anyone willing to join and learn the ropes, and are more than willing to offer a helping hand.

The way we work- the gov't has "requisitions offices," which buy raw goods at the same price they sell them at, to provide income for gatherers and cheap goods for craftsmen. Being a polymath can really beneit you here, though there is always room for new builders, since we are ambitious and have tons of government commissioned projects.

Currently, we are looking for a dedicted farmer/gatherer and ideally cook, but really- anyone willing to work can find something to do.

We're also doing x2 $25 Steam giveaways at the end of the month, and plan on continuing the trend. If you you've be itching to play eco again, give us a go.

Our Discord:
https://discord.gg/AE2dHG4VFx

If you need helping hand, just ask! This group is a really friendly, helpful bunch!

It's awfully tempting to join in as I've only played this game solo... but there's so many games to play. I've also been afraid that I'd be more of a burden than an asset in these sorts of games, much as I enjoy the cooperative aspect.
