Eh maybe. If you are having trouble, all you really need to know is DT and Stonesense need to be launched while a savegame is loaded in DF. More usability instructions are available on each project page/thread/readme-file.

http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=59056.0 maybe add this, too?

I second this. Runesmith is seriously useful, and seriously awesome.

This is really helpful, and as a noob myself I would like to thank you, however, I do have a question:
Why is the economy bad?  Everyone seems to disable it but it seems like an interesting concept.  Also, is there a way to re-enable it in case I want to play with it?

It seems to be pretty much broken. No matter how much wealth you have, you'll still have some dwarves who wind up essentially penniless, not to mention the nobles setting insane prices for internal sales of goods.

In your Dwarf Fortress folder, find Data\init\d_init.txt

There, you can set Weather, Economy, Invaders, Cave ins, Artifacts, etc.

If you want it on, just change NO to YES, or vice versa to turn it off.

The short answer: Because prices are arbitrary, rather than being based on supply. This means that dwarves will be unable to afford nice things. This forces you to build crappy stuff just so your dwarves can have the bare necessities.

I'm really glad its helpful. Also thanks Maximum/Nova for answering his question better then I could.

Woohoo! 31.09 is out. Can't wait to play with a potentially usable military w/o unkillable flying salt blobs of inevitable death.

There will be LNP V3.0, just have to wait for Therapist, Stonesense, and DFConfig(?)...  :o

Rather 0.31.10 ;)

I think there is only two critically needed components for pack: DF itself and Dwarf Therapist. I propose that in case of new DF release, as first update of LNP would be these two, and after rest of programs became ready, release proper LNP version for current DF version.

Hey, I used the lazy newb pack, now that 31.10 is out how can I upgrade without losing my saves? (not fussed about stonesense, but dwarf therapist would be nice!)

Thanks :)

In your current download, go to /data/save, grab all those folders, and put them in the /data/save of the new one.

There are some new RAWS to. Just Copy the RAWS from .10 and paste them into your save's RAWS.

Also bear in mind that dwarves have their heads at a perfect height for a good face-kicking.
That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.

Maybe we could combine our projects:

http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Bentgirder

Having a ready-to-go save lets a new player skip the site-finding and preparation steps, and get into the game immediately. The tutorial is a bonus. Seems like the sort of thing a Lazy Newb would appreciate.  :)

I tested Bentgirder with .10 and it works fine. Did the raws change in .10?
