Leaning towards a sorcerer or wizard here. Never played as one before, but the idea of flinging spells everywhere is somewhat appealing.

Is it safe to assume that we're all starting at level 1?

I'm thinking of building a tank this time around. Never was good at making them in other games so it'll be interesting to see where this goes. And yes, are we starting level 1? Also, are you just going to balance out our stats based on our character, or roll the numbers for us to place ourselves? (This is important as it will influence my race and feat choice)

Goddammit! I wanted to join, but of course, I'm too late... Can I have a reservation in case someone dies?

Also, if you are going to be playing in the modern day, with modern technology and weapons, maybe you should look up the D20 Modern books? D20 Modern is pretty easy to understand and it handles and provides modern day stuff as well as all sorts of other neat expansions too if you want to get funky and include fantasy/futuristic/whatever stuff you want (my personal favourite is the Shadow Stalkers expansion in D20 Past). Seems easier to me than trying to force 4E to conform to what you want.

I was under the impression that d20 Modern was based on D&D 3rd edition, or something along those lines. 4e is a different beast altogether, and in some ways I prefer 4e to 3 or 3.5.

ETA: Very Incomplete character sheet. Still holding off on the rest until we know stuff like what level we're starting at. Are we using the Standard Array found in the handbook for attributes?

Starting at level 1, use either Method 1 (the standard array) or Method 2 (the customized array) from PHB1. If you need help with it, feel free to ask here, and I'll help you out.

And Zako, I have looked up D20 Modern, but as Sirus said, it's based on 3E. I'm pulling some inspiration from that, but tweaking it to work in 4E. As for a waitlist, I'll toss you on it, in the event that a player death is not reversible.

How important will things like food and water be?

Food and water won't be overly important at the start. You're in a modern world. There are fast food restaurants everywhere.

EDIT: Character sheet looks good to me.
