I once tried to make ice cubes. I accidentally burned them.

Step 1: put milk on to boil.

Step 2: Have a friend that you've known since second grade but hasn't been in town in years show up at your house.

Step 3: go and have a talk with said friend, walking around outside, etc.

Step 4: Come home to a charred mess in your pot.

I raise you my attempt to make a fried egg. At first i cracked it open and onto the pan, but then the pan wasn't hot enough, resulting in uncooked whites on top of it, and also the yolk had ruptured. Therefore, i said "fuck this" and flipped the egg upside down to roast the top as well. End result:

... This is how I always do it, and it's the only way to make an egg edible. Except that I do wait until the pan is hot enough.

We call this a "fried egg." Put it on a hamburger, if you want to feel fancy.

Sunny side up is easier to do if you crack the egg on a flat surface. This prevents shards of the shell from piercing the white of the egg, and potentially the yolk, too. Also, drop the egg from a low height, no more than about five inches from the pan.

And put a lid on the pain* so the steam cooks the top of the egg. That way, you don't get a cooked-underside-stilljelly-top.

*Sound advice, but I meant pan.
