Prepare, mighty adventurers! It is your task to expand our people's territory. Your people must expand to a new island in the mighty pacific. You are the first mission to colonize islands in the out ocean itself.

You begin with [And yes I know these are very stereotypical names] :

Toko: The navigator, he is in charge of steering our canoe in the right direction
Teka: A farmer, she knows how to reer animals and slaughter them
Kanapa: A Fisherman
Nakouta: A farmer who is a specialist in Rice growing
Krakatau: A Shaman, seclusive and secretive, his job is to entice good luck from the gods by earning their favor. An expert in Religion, Spirits and Omens

But first, Dear Adventurer, you must decide where you are going to make land! [If we could get a "Drawn" remake of this map made then can we please?]

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

I propose we land on the eastern islands, specifically the big, roundish, western one. As soon as we land, set about finding a nice clearing or some such to set up camp. Then get to work clearing fields and finding game runs and in general foody stuff.

You set sail and land on the Round Island. The coast is lined with Palm trees laden with coconuts. You begin to unload the Canoe:

A Caged Cockerel

A Caged Hen

A Sack of Rice (approximately 1 weeks worth of food)

1 Canoe


The tropical forest stretches off into the distance which stretches off to a highland area to the middle of the island.

Do we have any tools, like axes? If so, cut down a few trees to be used in construction. Otherwise, scavenge for some wood for a fire, and send someone off to explore.

We do not have any tools at the moment but we can easily make some. Nakouta heads into the woods to explore. She comes across a river down the coats from where we have made land. There are also some fruits in the river, which are similar to species back home.

Back at the canoe the rest of the hanging about. Krakatau is beginning to Carve a small totem Pole, roughly the size of a man.

Have kanapa row around in the canoe a bit, trying to catch fish, if he needs more tools like a net or fishing pole first then make those first. Move all our stuff above where the high tide should reach usually, have the rest of the guys explore the island.

Kanapa requires a Net or a Hooked Spear to fish.

The rest of the group go exploring.

From this expedition we have learnt that the Fruit trees are quite populous on the Island. There is also wild fowl and small pigs. The Trees get more sparce as the Land climbs but nobody made it up further than that. Everyone has returned to the landing spot where Kanapa has woven a shoddy net out of Grass and Leaves.

It is Afternoon.

Everyone is hungry and thirsty.

Krakatau has returned to carving his Totem

Have Nakouta look for a good place to grow some rice by the river.

Everyone else forages for fruit from the trees and gets water from the river (if it looks clean enough).

We don't have any Buckets for Water collecting

Fruit is foraged from the trees in the Forest and dumped in a heap on the beach.

Nakauta surveys the river for Arable land. There is a patch upstream, near a clearing, that would be suitable for growing rice

Have Nakouta immediately begin planting rice, while the others look for something to collect water with (coconut shells?).

Nakouta sets to work planting 1/7th of the Food Supply.

Coconut shells would be suitable. But there is no way to split them open

Also, if the people are still thirsty have them drink directly form the river, and if still hungry let them eat fruit if they haven't already, save the seeds for later use in planting orchards.

Ok, they can smash Coconuts against rocks. After one turn the Islanders have made 2 half coconuts. They use these to fish water our of the River to drink from. They also walk back to the Storage area. They eat some fruit and make sure to keep the seeds so that they can be planted.

Feed Cockerel and Hen some fruit. Look for a good place to build a chicken coop. Try to locate some pig trails where the often move through for later placement of traps.
