Update 1.06 - A day early, hope you dont mind. :)

Notes: This week you get two updates for the price of one! :P The update contains bugfixes for dwarves, kobolds and the hermit, more GUI options, a new utility (DFTool)... and the second update contains DF 43.03. Its made with an alpha-release of dfhack for the newest DF and init files for the therapist, so these two utilities work for sure. TWBT does not work with it yet. I put it in a separate download.

You can either download the stable 42.06 version above, or the test-version for 43.03 below.

Changelog:
Quote
- fixed two errors in the succubus quickguide.
- added dftool utility.
- added options for kobolds, enable/disable any workshop in the GUI.
- added options for orcs, enable/disable any workshop in the GUI.
- added option for kobolds: PICKS! (disabled by default).
- added poison vat, archive, carpets, banner, display case and campfire to kobolds.
- updated the-earth-strikes-back to newest version and enabled it again by default.
- removed standardized-bones from GUI, as it causes crashes when butchering historic-figures.
- fixed several duplicate hotkeys for workshops in dwarf mode.
- fixed errorlog about missing items in Grimlockes weapon and armor pack.
- fixed bug in hermit mode that prevented playing as a dwarfish hermit.
- added bookbinding, quicklime, parchments, etc to hermit mode.
- Set multilevel of TWBT to 0 as default; since people have been reporting crashes because of it.
- removed cave-fish-man, narwhale-man, orca-man, cuttlefish-man, octopus-man, sperm-whale-man, nautilus-man and squid-man from hermit creatures, since they air-drown.
- added patreon rewards, nicknames as engravings and items.

- release test-version of MDF for 43.03 with dfhack and therapist, but no TWBT.

Spoiler: Orc Gui (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Kobold Gui (click to show/hide)

Get the test-version here: MasterworkDF 1.06 for 43.03 - Download (http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=12148)

Community feedback (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=157912.0): Necromancers are leading the poll... guess they are the next race to come. :) Might take more than a week though, because they are the most complex of races.

Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/meph): No new patrons this week. I did add patreon rewards, the engravings and items, into the game and added an option in the GUI to toggle them. Some people still need to write me their wanted nicknames and items, so please do. Downloads of the mod remain at ~1000 per week.

Remember, you'd make me a very happy person if you'd pitch in $1 a month. With 1000 active players that adds up. ;)

Hi Meph, glad to see MW on .43!

It looks like the main build of MW got the updated The Earth Strikes Back, but the experimental 43.03 build didn't.  Also, the "Pet Rocks" toggle in the main build doesn't do anything (it needs to comment out the tesb-add-pets line in onload.init).  Turning off the "Earth Strikes Back!" toggle comments out that line along with all the others associated with the mod.

One other minor point, the GUI tooltip for Pet Rocks is outdated... they are no longer vermin.  Still immobile though.

Hey Meph, just signed up to say fantastic work. After playing masterwork I was never able to go back to vanilla, so I was pretty sad when you went cycling the world for a while and weren't able to update. It's great to see you doing weekly updates now, thanks so much for your hard work!

(Pheobus / no TWBT)  Mithril, cobalt, and tungsten currently look like stone -- no little asterisk or other "ore" symbol.  Not a huge problem, but they're definitely harder to see than in old masterwork, mithril in particular.

ed.  oops, this is an old save (1.04), so may be old news

Just checking in to say that the test build seems to be working okay so far. Will report any issues I run across.

I love how toady basically invalidated the workflow plugin

Edit: Actually I noticed a small oddity, I can't mass-brew dwarven wine. I have over 100 plump helmets and plenty of barrels but the option for specifically brewing wine or mass brewing it don't light up. I can do ale or beer just fine...

I am on the 43.03 version and have encountered some oddness. TWBT is on but with 0 z levels. Almost every thing else is default.

I was getting some incredibly annoying hitching while playing as Suc, but when I generate a world with dwarves and suc as options, even if im playing as suc, then there is no hitching. I do get hitching on worlds where suc are the only option from generation.

Got my first crash while browsing the stock menu when moving to 2nd page. Crashed instead of displayed. After reloading I went to 2nd page and noticed I had a rather interesting entry. At the very bottom I have "Items". The quantity I have is different each time I look at the stock screen and seems to range between positive and negative 1,000,000.

Also, when I butcher summoned Nahash I get chops of everything. Scale chops included. Not sure if this is on purpose or not. On the plus side it doesn't crash, I just get some odd food stuffs.

Save upload with broken Item listing, if it helps.

Just loaded up 1.06; at Embark, there are 2 entries for Dwarven Beer, Ale, & Rum.  I'm looking forward to settling a long-term world with all of the Tavern/Library goodness in MW :)  Regarding saves, I recall seeing that they don't carry over.  Is that between each version of MW, or only when MW updates to a new version of DF?

So I take back the 'so far so good' bit about the new version. 3 crashes so far while playing and one when trying to save, which was a big downer as it corrupted the whole save and I lose several hours of play.

Is anyone else finding graphical errors?  For example; using Ironhand, the icon for Tetrahedrite is missing.  The tile is just a dark diamond shape.  I saved, quit, and switched to Phoebus.  Upon loading the save, everything was screwy (I thought changing graphics didn't effect the current save).  Went back to Ironhand, still missing some ores.

It does not update current saves, which is not the same as not affecting them. The raws stay the same, the tileset changes, so if you load a save, please use the same tileset you generated it with. Otherwise everything is wrong.

Good to know.  I reinstalled the graphics and made a quick world to test; reveal & prospect.  Tetrahedrite is definitely missing its' graphic in Ironhand.  Also, I tried selecting the duplicate boozes I mentioned earlier, and this regularly crashed the game.

Y'know, I was wondering about the duplicate booze names as well. I just assumed it was a minor oversight due to copying the drink related stuff for those new 'shrooms.

Nother bug in 1.06; I turned on Earth Strikes Back, and awakened stones don't work.  In the previous version, I had a Miner get mauled by a Granite almost immediately.  In this version however, I have received the announcement twice, but no critter appeared.

Is this in the main build or the experimental build?  I haven't had a chance to test drive 1.06 yet (and won't be able to tonight, real life won't leave me alone), but hopefully I can troubleshoot tomorrow.

Does anything appear in the console window, or in stderr.log?

Well, in the release before this one I had the same problem. Haven't encountered any living stone yet on this release.

Said something about create-unit not being a valid command or something, and if it helps, I also got a message saying that "dtools/reaction-trigger is not a recognized command"

Ditto, and I'm using the experimental build (1.06).  In the previous version, Awakened Stone appeared immediately following the announcement of 'incurred wrath'.

The dtools one is harmless (it's a typo in the Kobold mode initialization, but the typo is in a duplicated line).  The create-unit one of the culprit.  Do you get the same message if you type create-unit -help in the console?  When I get a chance to sit down with MW I'll check exactly what scripts are where.  Quite a lot changed in the TESB update, and the readme file might not have been clear enough for Meph to figure out where everything needs to be.

EDIT

Yeah, no dice. And here I was hoping to see my miners band together to fight rockmen.  :(

EDIT II: Alright, so... SOmething strange happened. The awakened stone spawned, but uhm... It's about 46 z's away from where it should be.

In 43.03 - built a scriptorium - and though it does chew up the resources it doesnt produce a book at the end. I checked the raws, and it looks right. It's a 100 probability (i thought maybe there was a failure chance - so i tried it a couple times before poking around).  The dwarf goes in, TSKs all the elements, then poof - nothing.  I've looked through 'tools' where they used to appear, tried to write different books etc.

seem to have a weird problem trying to get hermit mode to work, it appears to be killing off the 7 starting dwarfs but isnt spawning the hermit, so I get the "your settlement has crumbled" message. tried genning a new world and selecting a few different races for the hermit (goblins, dwarfs + a few different animal men) but the end result is always the same. this in the 1.06 42 version.

Nothing changed with workflow, but the new version of DF as of 0.43 has a new work manager screen where you can add conditions, standing orders, repeating jobs, etc and even specify by material and restrict to specific workshops. It's pretty nice.

Hello!
@Dirst Perhaps it's just that I can't find the workshop, but in MWDF2016 I can't find the tribute workshop when I'm playing Orcs or Succubi. Haven't checked yet with other races, and I definitely have all of the mod enabled in the GUI. In both modes I do actually get attacked by living stone, and find hidden gems, have pet rocks, and have the option to plant gem vines.

Where should I check to see what's wrong?

The Dwarves are the most in-tune with the earth so only they have access to the Tribute workshop (any race can learn the divine Secret of peace with living stone because gods are gods). Other races can trap Awakened Stones and train them... Just be aware that they don't breed.

Reactions to make Bookshelves are missing in the newest version, and I would assume other reactions involving bookmaking.
Edit: It might just be Kobolds because maybe kobolds aren't expected to make books, but I have a large stockpile of books from poet and necromancer murder, and would like to make a library. I reposted here from the main version's page because this one seems to be more relevant, being the version I am using.

I could check again but atm the details of the location of this are from dwarf mockup, which is a utility included in the testing download, though it isnt anywhere in the others, currently until i feel like its a risk i can afford i will not touch it :D
Further: It is not the entire mod pack that is giving me issues, only the utility folder itself, i ran the other one without issue and so shall skip the updated ones XD
Second Edit: It was when i downloaded this pack as currently my pc is acting just fine after removing the full pack.

Antivirus packages that use a "reputation" system will often flag new programs until enough users have hit the "I trust this program" button.  Hits PE's Starter Pack once in a while, and I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing was happening here.

But for stuff that you have never used before, checking the MD5 against the source is a good idea.

That's hilarious, but it's also a bug.  I'll have to look into that.  I did notice that sometimes tame Awakened Stones would get in fights with tame Pet Rocks, but the fights were so short I couldn't see the Pet Rocks.  Thanks, now I have an idea where to look.

Edit: The 43.03 MW has the older version of TESB, but the fights occur in the newer TESB that comes with the 42.06 MW.  This is still a good lead to fixing that, though.

It depends. People can set their own monthly donation cap. I guess it doesn't really matter as long as the releases are consistently every week.

The announcement utility is getting flagged as a trojan, but apparently this happens to it every now and then, something to do with the way it runs and unpacks itself to control directory structure? Dunno, but its a semi-common problem with that utility.

It's hard to really describe how exhausting helping the ignorant is to someone who hasn't experienced it. As you said, it's worth paying slightly more to avoid it entirely and use something more commonly known.

I suppose a self-extracting executable would solve a lot of those problems. Alas I suspect then you would have people paranoid about viruses, malware and other problems from the unpacker. Moral of the story? You can't please everyone all of the time.

Anyways looking forward to this mod's update with great interest. May have to go back and give the older ones a whirl so I know what I will be getting into.

i've discovered i adore the ability to create my own unit with the ease of the start hermit mode building, what do i need to copy to put this into dwarf mode (or kobold mode or whatnot)

figured it out .. yey ok, with spawnunit. its only creating friendly not fort members using df hack's modtools/spawnunit command. how do you do it meph? -civ_id \\LOCAL -group_id \\ LOCAL just errors in -civ_id

figured out through trial and error that it is not -civ_id or -civid, it is infact -civId with a captial I that i cant see cause i'm blind in rl, now for the new funness, the -name command doesnt want to work ><

You have not idea how much we pay to weed out stupid feedbacks. PHP had a config feature called y2k_compliant that did nothing, ever. This was added because admins kept calling Rasmus Lerdof to ask if their website would survive the oh-so-terrible y2k bug.

Try using the -help command to get the right list of options, but we need a convention on param names.

I'm getting a persistent crash around the third season, I believe it's when it's when the trade caravan arrives. Has happened with several worlds and for some reason I can't get past that point. I've tried with and without TWBT. I've checked the error log, but all I'm getting is some mythical beast not being geldable.... Which happens when I boot up the save, not at the crash.

Please upload the save. Persistent crashes I have hopes to fix. I assume its 1.06 playing as dwarves?

Edit: if you do, please post it here: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=125638.1035

I'm going to lock this thread because the next update is out.
