immigration office?
« on: January 21, 2010, 12:29:31 pm »

How about add immigration office that employs one random dorf that handles what kinda immigrants you get.

You could have "no immigration", "skilled only", "Open arms", "Fort first" options, which would limit the amount of immigrants you get.

With no mmigration being.. no immigrants at all..

skilled only .. peasants dont bother

open arms .. current immigration

fort first .. only accept immigrants with jobs you have vacant workshops for.

I really like this idea. A way to get the immigrants you want and no others without doing it over a pile of corpses.

Maybe it has to get validated by a manager and then it will only take effect when the caravan/liaison leaves?

I approve this idea, however. :)

This is also relevant for future possibilities of multi-racial fortresses. Like, control the human immigration.

"Skilled only" -- Naturally you'll get 20 skilled cheesemakers in your next immigration wave ;D

I find it easier to manage if all my immigrants are peasants.

And you can't eat them, either, sadly. Even though it'd make sieges so much more fun; dwarves lining the walls, drooling and carrying sharp knives and forks, ready for the upcoming meals.

We just had this suggestion last month.  The OP and repliers put much more effort into that thread, so people should probably bump that one instead of replying here.

In before illegal fortress immigrants.

(or has that been discussed in the other thread?)

Except i prefer to keep things relatively simple and not complicate them too much so its more feasible to add without spending months just to implement it.

Yeah, all I want is a list to check off of who we're accepting at the legendary dining hall. And I'd make do just fine with an in-game migration on/off switch.
