+1 We should also try to bring the tinderbox, rope, and a fresh set of clothing.

Yes, that's important and doesn't mean much weight.

The Plains of Grating, Fifth Age
The Age of Death, Year 625

Day 13, Shortly After Midnight

You hastily take more weaponry than you yourself could ever hope to use at once, but hope that the weapons soon enough will find use in the hands of your future undead. Soon enough you have stuffed the corpses into a niche of the cave, and cover the same with rocks and dirt. Where the floor is bloody, the cave is also covered in plenty of sand and gravel by now. If they find the corpses, it is either because of a thorough search, or the undoubtedly putrid smell that they partly already emit, and which the rest also will emit soon enough. Either way, when you exit the cave, the moon is already faintly visible, and the chirping of insects is to be heard.

While stealing away from your cave, you keep a nervous look on the surrounding area. You encounter no intelligent life, but can't help notice that the normally dim shine from the village is anything but that today. Maybe they are expecting an attack of some kind, because the streets seem to be filled with light from torches and bonfires. Interestingly enough, there are far lesser lights to be seen in the hills themselves, even where you often enough spied them before.

The descent is made without any problems, and with the night engulfing your little troop you start travelling back to the ruined metropolis. While wandering you also notice that your legs numbness is lessening ever so slightly, but the quarterstaff is still utilized as a crutch most of the time. If it is because you are walking, your heightened awareness or just by chance you do not know, but you stumble over a small geode of schorl, and some time later a sizeable chunk of emerald. You pocket them both, seeing as their low weight and great utility value makes it an obvious choice. The occasional look over your shoulder proves that there seem to be no pursuers, and the slow but steady distance you get between yourself and the mountain.

It is on a widely visible hill that you find this small structure, mainly because the hide flapped around in the wind. At first perplexed at the affair, you soon realize its use on closer inspection. It is a travellers respite, filled with some dried foods, some jugs of water, an old fur and even a rough bronze dagger. You consider vandalizing some of the supplies or even the whole thing, just to spite the lot who set it up. These humans really seem more and more like they have no enemies here besides nature.

Take the dagger and the dried meat. Ignore the rest.

But we can take the jugs and fill them with Blood! And then drink it for nutrition! Or transmute the fluids inside the Jars!
Wear the fur to disguise our face, for later expeditions, maybe as a cloak?
Dagger for having an extra dagger.
Food for food
Jugs for storing blood and other body fluids.

+1  Only eat one of the meats and pocket the other, in case we have an opportunity to get a pet lion or something

Eat some meat, take the dagger and leave the rest. Don't leave any signs that we came this way, we're supposed to be escaping lynching mob here!

Then you get cities like Paris where you should basically just kill yourself already.

You won’t have to think anymore: it’ll be just like having fun!

The Plains of Grating, Fifth Age
The Age of Death, Year 625

Day 13, After Nightfall

You take some spoils of discovery, but mainly keep the place as it was. True enough, it is quite probable that only an outsider would do such a thing, possibly giving them a hint as to where you went – or came from. Since both of those destinations are the same, laying low might really be better.

After eating some of the jerky – it might be cow, or so you wager – it is back to walking. Well, actually it is already close to running, seeing as it is quite hard to get out of breath if you are one of the undead. Unless you are a trueblood, that is. These rare vampires are so very much un-dead, they already are somewhat living. Obviously their state of living is a perversion of nature, and quite different from truly living creatures, but still.

Either way, come noon the city is already quite visible on the horizon, and by dusk you are almost back. There were no mention-worthy distractions, and the only thing you found was a thick branch so very straight, you felt compelled to make it into a spear and take it with you. As soon as the gate are clearly visible, you are overcome with a tinge of nostalgia. The fallen city itself is no different from when you left it, ripe with weathered and withered away buildings and eerily empty streets. You pass the gate without problem, and ponder your next move.

" Hey there - It's been a while... "

Well then, back where we began. Exactly two months ago even! 43 Posts in about 60 days, eh? Here is hope we keep at it ;3

As for my part, I have less problems with perspective, and how to go about pixel-anatomy. Nothing big, and I am cutting corners for the sake of speed quite often, but still. Either way, I do have my fun with this, so all is well, I guess.

Find shelter, then search for anything we missed the first time. We can then practice Ritualism.

Find a reasonably intact building. Start filling the gems, when that finishes, reanimate the human as a skeleton.
