Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Fun fact:
From what I recall, she and her particular line of night trolls were one of the number one cause of death for my adventurers in the world she was from, due to just how darn prolific she and her offspring were.  :-\

It is also horrifying.

But definitely well done!

This makes me wish more people drew night trolls and angels more, instead of FBs and the like. The latter are mostly weird, not really spooky, but some of the angels and night trolls I've seen are downright horrifying when visualized - especially combined with some of the behavior descriptors.

Yeah, night trolls can be creepy for the squeamish.

I'd say I'm far from squeamish, but I do think night trolls are damn horrifying, mostly because they're so unnatural - not in the same way as Cthulhu-esque old gods, but they're still things that just should not be.

Especially when they have limbs that jut out asymmetrically, yet they are able to move with the agility and speed of a wildcat. How can they possibly move this fast?

Make it move like a spider and walk on all fours, but upside down, with its back facing the ground for extra uncanniness, and you'll have proper nightmare fuel

Don't forget periodic stilting pauses, and twitchy jerking of random bodyparts interrupted by occasional bouts of vibrating them, oh and make it laugh like river otters.

I run a DF D&D campaign. I freaked out my players with a description of a dark horror. They found it at its lair. They opened the door to find it cutting something up with a knife. It turned around like lightning and immediately attacked them, completely silent. Then it was breaking joints, climbing over shields, prying off armor, and it was all the players could do to keep it off them.

"You are surrounded by incessant cackling."

I never thought of otters as killers, but they are apparently apex predators.  Man, that's scary.
