The beacon shines.

The shining is a cold blue light that emanates outwards from eternity. There are rays, and those rays are needles that pierce every realm.

It reveals itself only to the lost. They are drawn towards it like moths to a flame.

This is fitting.

The thing that preceded death. Memories of it are fragmentary, bursts of color that are always accompanied by a strange sad longing.

A place outside the world, inhabited only by spirits of the newly-dead. The mist of the Astral Realm strips away identity and leaches strength from the soul.

Ghosts that remain here are quickly reduced to nothing.

This game will take place in various parts of an afterlife. Beyond that, the mechanics and setting are intentionally left vague. I felt like making something needlessly cryptic and bizarre.

For the most part we'll be using standard RTD mechanics. Stats exist, but instead of providing bonuses they define how characters interact with the world (and how the world interacts with them).

The game may not run very long. Aside from being busy in real life, I made it on a whim at three in the morning. We'll see how it goes.

Clarity: Lucidity, perception, distinction between self and other.
Insight: Symbolic thought, internal manifestation.

Blanket pulled close for warmth in the cold wilds, mosin pulled close, just in case. Every once in a while, you hear a god's footstep somewhere out in the woods, or the crack of lightning put against lightning. But their war is not your problem, for you are only human. Despite all the violence, you rest easy.

Identity: 2 (Let the world change. Go with the flow.)
Willpower: 3 (It is only human to exercise your will on the world. Yet, the world resists.)
Resolve: 4 (You need to be tough, so you are. Simple as that.)
Clarity: 5 (A soldier's awareness is her greatest asset.)

Hello again everyone, and thanks for the continued interest.

I'm still very interested in running this game, but unfortunately it suffered from some very bad timing. Some academic stuff blew up in my face the day after I posted the OP, and I've dropped most of my internet activity in order to focus on that.

I sort of assumed that this thread would die off. It's a pleasant surprise to see that didn't happen, but also a bit of an awkward one given that the real life stuff hasn't blown over yet.

I'd be happy to revisit this game, when I actually have the ability to run it, but I'm not totally sure when that will happen. I'm hoping it'll be another a day or two, but in a worst-case scenario it could still take weeks.

Given that many of you still seem to be on board, I'll try to start this properly once the crisis has passed. That will involve posting an intro to the thread, but if you also want to be notified via PM or something just let me know.

In the meantime, thank you for caring enough to bump this after two weeks of radio silence - it means a lot. Sorry about abandoning you right out of the gate.
