Technically DF is a democracy that's rigged the dwarves an vote for mayor but the overseer (player) can change it at will

How about a Roman Republic type fort?  With a senate and everything.  Maybe some slave races on the side ( animalmen ).

I have to agree with this. However, since you always seem to get yourself dorfed as a spartan, in every community or succession game I've seen you in, you have partially redeemed yourself. I will definitely be enslaving the elves, though.

I'm going on vacation very soon, but when I get back, I will make a roman fort.
