Title: FrogPaint, a drawing program for Windows
Post by: Mr Frog on March 15, 2013, 05:56:37 pm
Mediafire Download Link (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?e7ngz7wa6nugis4)

This is a Windows program for creating and editing images, intended primarily for lineart, cel shading, and other simple graphics. Features include layer-based editing, antialiased lines, automatic stroke smoothing, and a variety of methods to control the shape of drawn lines; the dimensions of the brush can be controlled, as well as how much it tapers towards each end, and key commands can be entered while drawing a line to change its properties. Additional details are included in the .zip.

It's a bit bare-bones as of yet. I'm really only putting it here because someone expressed interest in it.

An example of what it's capable of. Because Mr Frog didn't provide it.

Are you only ever planning on making a Windows build? 'cause If you could make a Linux build, I'd be ever so grateful.

I sadly lack the programming know-how to make a port; otherwise, I'd have made Mac and Linux builds before I even made this thread. Programming's not really a focus of mine; I just happened to make something semi-useful almost by accident while screwing around with bezier curves.

Well, thanks anyway.

Oh wow, this is really good. Do you plan to charge for it in the future or keep it free?
Needs some polishing on the UI so I would give this a 7/10
But that's just me because I'm more used to clicking rather than memorizing hotkeys.
Anyway, Is there a place where I can follow this program's updates?
Trying to find it in google isn't working out.

@Ashen:

I briefly considered trying to sell it (or a more-polished future version) for money, but ultimately decided against. I made the program primarily for my own use, and that's all the profit I ever wanted out of it. Barring severe financial desperation on my part, it'll probably be free always.

I agree, the UI is half-baked at best. I keep intending to at least implement mouse controls for the sliders, but that would take effort, and I'm already used to the keyboard controls.

This is pretty much the only place I've linked to it; there's no official website or whatever. I'm new to this whole 'self-publishing' thing ^^;  In the event that I finally get off my ass and add something, I'll post the updates here.

Ooh. Interesting. How is this for pixel art? That's my main thing.

Not gonna mince words: awful. It's possible to turn off antialiasing on brush strokes to allow pixel-by-pixel editing, so technically you can make pixel art with this, but there isn't any special support for pixel art beyond that -- no colour indexing, etc.. You'd be better off using GiMP, or even Paint.

Hmm! This could be useful.
Thanks!

Alright! I might give it a try anyway, if not for pixel art. I might prefer it: I've been looking for a good non-pixely editor. Thanks for being honest.
