Found i have fire snake vermin, then found they are worth something.
What would be the best way to capture these without dwarf flame spirals.

Basically I want to build a tower or channel a hole to suitable area and drop stuff like vermin and mcnoob fighters back teet on people to creat light injuries for doctor training.
Will dropping stuff like vermin and teeth work or is it too light.
Is there a maximium height/drop where they become lethal?

last doctor was a quick selectio who went on break with bodies all around him and turned out not to care much. Now having carefully selected  dwarfs who seem more people fiendly, I need to train them up with loads of easy work so they can handle the bad stuff.

reccomendations? remember hurt not smash to death.

As the title says this is for those who ferment there own alcohol. Distilling probable best avoided for annoying legal reasons. Like 400 Imp gallon min requirment for licence I have no hope of being granted. And unsure if its legal where forums are, brewing is though,

So how make beer wines or turbo ciders? other ferments welcome as well, all information welcome.

Me, I make Kit beers and turbos due to space and brewday time constraints as belive me I would love to be let do a real all grain.

New fort, havent played in while, so uped ores a chunk or two with slider thinggy to make starting a bit easier.

After a time, got a fit and ran reveal and prospect.
Magma is Waaay down, temple down and 3 temples! and no adamantine, 0, Zero. this buggs.

Anyone else get no funny cotton candy metal?

I have several migraints show up who have "UNKOWN" listed as a skill in dwarf therapist some at level 1 and 1 guy at level 5.

Any idea what is going on. No mods in play.

I think Zynga (you know on facebook) is run by goblins who want to take all your money. Have not played in months, I only show on on facebook a couple of time a year. Mostly as the games have put me right off.

Some of the game changes make it easier to play but the constant having to buy stuff to advance faster or to advance at all. its evil money grabbing. Too much adverts. one was only $100 for some crap game money. 100! total waste of cash. I dont know how somepeople are in L100 without wasting a load of cash or cheating.

Yes its a bit ranty, but who here admits to wasting too much time on this infernal games from the glowing pits.

DF Gameplay Questions / Making a long drop

what is the best way to make a long drop pit. Still new to making holes that are holes and not ramps.

Thinking of having a long drop pit to kill things or as dump linked to one of the rivers as disposal pit. For collecting, think I probably need a door at bottom to hold in whatever until needed.

So how do I dig a 1 wide hole with nothing in it down a long way. Would up/down stairs work for the most part? it would prefably have a clean drop to bottom.

I created a world and embarked on a major river with a 17z drop from top to bottom and is 47 tiles wide it even has a waterfall. The main river is frozen for some reason but the side one is mostly liquid.
It had the big river chasm I wanted to build a city on top of, this was good. Lack of good stone or metals is not.
I ran reveal to find the clownite and came across a "temple?" smooth slade walls and floors. the indide is filled with 20 zombie mountain goats, 78 zombie or skeletal naked moledogs, 10 zombie or skeletal Pandas, 50 zombie & 10 skeletal Yaks, 63 zombie or skeletal Elks & 15 cave fish men according to runesmith

never seen one of these slade constructions before. I am tempted to stay just for my river bridge city but with only 1569 blue metal in total not sure is worth it.
The upright sword screams "It's a Trap!" and "come get me"
the zombie filled temple? is in my 3rd cavern and they are all linked it seems.

What is the opinion of the more experienced dwarfs here, this a normal thing to find?
I'm half tempted to runesmith some of the demons out of existance just for some peace and quite.

Been looking back though the mod threads and so far havent seen what Im looking for.
Which is to mess with the atmosphere and make it toxic to dwarfs or remove the air entily for the outside.

Basic idea is to have a colony on the moon/alien planet. With the air outside toxic or just the lack or air, they have to live inside all the time.
One idea I had was to have the world covered a invisible gas that produced a syndrome of choking or similiar.
Problems:
Air is everywhere so how to seperate the inside from outside. Airlocks? how to stop syndrome spreading like plague. Should be a gas I think with some way to wash it off perhaps or a way to blow it out side. Don't think airpressure exists though which might effect that idea.

I have been away from dwarf fortress for a while and like how it has expanded in general and how modding has expanded as well. So anyone wishing to expand upon this, Can we alter the atmosphere of the world? would like to see if this part is viable idea before going to mod other parts such as mineral structure of the world, animals or plants.
