Oh, fun. Can you add in the LW Samurai class? That one is great fun!

It's reasonably balanced. Very powerful in melee but sucks with guns. The trick is to survive long enough to get promoted to the levels where you start getting survival bonuses.

I also enjoy the LW2 The Axe Mod (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=718190620&searchtext=axes) and LW2 Katana pack reloaded (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=698579656&searchtext=katana). Lots of fun melee weapons in there. The Ninjato in particular is wonderful for Shinobi.

You can export your character. Would be easier than me trying to remake it (and probably more accurate). It would be within the XCOM2 folder in Documents somewhere.
And if you can show me your mod list I'll just grab everything I see to solve any incompatibility issues.

Style: In keeping with his kingly delusions, he likes others to do things for him, especially shoot. Of course, he doesn't mind slicing aliens in half from time to time. [George can also be used as a meatshield for actually useful members of the team as long as you don't tell him :P]
Customization options: I don't know what options there are, but I would prefer something that resembles a crown. And maybe red/blue/white armor to match the colors of the British flag. Anything to make him either look like an insane asylum escapee or like the King of England would be fine, really.

Blase Log #1:
On blades and things.

I remain unsure if I should remain here or pick up operations elsewhere. I'm still no professional, but heck if I don't know a few more things than a few of the people around this unit. There's about a dozen different flavors of bladed implements on board the avenger to swing around, and a bunch of the guys seem to prefer them. Not sure why the hell someone would take a pointy stick over buckshot, though. I mentioned Shiroyama to the group, but I don't think that anyone except Disgrace knew what the hell I was talking about. I don't actually know if Disgrace knew what the hell I was talking about either, actually. You'd think we could standardize English for use during working hours, but nope.

Went on a mission, hacked a data point. The gremlin seems to be a much better platform than the pads I'm used to, especially with the additional module I put in. The commander is apparently under the impression that I'm useless at range, despite the gremlin's point-targeting capability. Really, it's likely that it's even better than anyone living could still do. The days of field armies and professionals are long gone.

I got shot at a lot. I got shot. Disgrace got his ass damn near shot off. Several people made very good shots at well-covered enemies. The ossifer made the decision for me to access the data point instead of providing immediate support. I'm unsure if this was the right decision, although we were able to casevac Disgrace and he'll likely be okay. In particular, we fled straight up instead of taking time to further mine ADVENT technological assets and hold a rear-guard action.

Going forward, I should come to a decision point too. XCOM is the most organized of humanities forces, and the Avenger and Firebrand likely gives us the best chance for conducting effective guerrilla ops against the enemy while supporting nogo areas in the wastelands. I worry about the competence. We're far ahead of anyone else, but far below my old band. Defeatist sentiments aren't good. I'm going to fight and this is the best place to fight. At the least, I think I can go through the stocks and talk to Shen about our AM capabilities, see if I can't get myself a real set of fatigues. Preferably some armor and a helmet too. Lord knows that, with our pilot, there's a good chance that a damn halberd falls on my head or something.

Unconventional

I've been here for day, this X-COM project, and it makes me pine for the wars I've fought on planet Earth. Japan and China as a union against Russia. My disgrace and dishonor. My donning of my old outfit. I walked the way of a ninja, at the cost of having to leave my daughter, Kimiko, behind. Now? It's a war against forces Russia never had.

Went on an operation to hack data from ADVENT. I was wounded in the ensuing chaos, but I should be okay, and we finished. This X-COM team, my new clan, can do things other people cannot hope to do. My bravery is matched and exceeded. While I walk the way of the Ninja, they walk the way of the Soldier. And though a gun is dishonorable, dying with the sword is more so.

I have to stop writing for two reasons. One: One of the medical aid is trying to replace the bandages for my wounds, and two, Mr. Blasé is trying to speak to me. Perhaps I should tell him I speak fluent English from my time abroad at some point, because him doing that thing where he speaks slowly to get me to understand better is both amusing and annoying.

Went on a mission. Shot the hell out of an alien, which apparently surprised people. Against unarmored targets, buckshot is lethal quite far out. Also adding to a generally positive mission, I beat a Vichy into submission. Fuck the collaborators. With luck, we'll be able to get some important information from them. It seems that ADVENT is working on high cap magazines for their troops. We captured several examples for our own use. I don't know how well the magnetic systems they use will translate to our designs, but more information is always better.

Also on the technological front, I talked to Tom Ireland about the fancy gauntlet he uses. It seems like it'd be a helluva force multiplier if I could duct tape one onto my gremlin, but this seems to be beyond the weight and functionality limits of the platform. I also asked Ireland if he's ever been turned to stone, but I don't think that he got the joke. Certain important elements of human culture are at serious risk of perishing from this Earth. That'd hardly be tolerable, I think.

So yeah, since this is long war we can have a lot more bay12ers around here than we can deploy for a standard xcom game.
I have 20some units and all of them are being sent on missions, so having more named characters certainly won't hurt.

BTW, I discovered a great trick for taking out the initial pod from concealment. Run a soldier with Bladestorm up into the middle of them as a blue move. They'll slash a bunch of them as they make a break for it, probably killing most or all of them, and still have a move left to finish off a straggler or get to cover.

I performed a stealthy hack of an ADVENT network thingie as part of a two-man infiltration team. When I first received the mission order I was fairly hopeful. Two man sniper-spotter teams are a traditional, effective, well-proven technique. I was assigned to work with call sign Pathfinder. Obviously, Pathfinder is a blade-dude, because pathfinders are no longer an actual function. Somewhat alarmingly, the guy seems to be modeling himself after Jason from those shitty old movies. I definitely prefer the ninjas over the monster mash. I get that the world ended and all, but if we're going to act crazy, can't we all go with a consistent, badass Mad Max theme?

Despite the getup, Pathfinder performed admirably in the field. Upon exfiltration, the commander had me provide fire on the enemy instead of trying to take the time to compromise additional enemy assets, which seems somewhat questionable. However, I can't argue trading some fuel, a flashbang, and one round of buck for the information assets and another Sectoid dead.

Haven't had a chance to watch the videos yet, although I'm trying to catch up.

Depending on how you use them, Samurai can make decent officers. They don't do a whole lot at range, so doing command stuff until you need them to rush in and slash people can work out all right.

If you're using them more as scout/flankers then of course being an officer isn't too helpful.

Lets go with Ever Vigilant for Blase, an unorthodox but possibly useful option. Effectively, it'd require that he do a dash into a blind corner to be useful, but for total stealth, that's actually very useful in my experience.

Besides, taking failsafe means that there's no chance for him to fail a hack to set up an ambush on the reinforcements.

Hmmm, I'm inclined to go 2. 3A might be ok, depending on how familiar you are with that mission. I have found it is much easier once you know what to expect. Although I haven't tried it with LW2 yet, so I don't know if they changed anything.

     Do I have to start going around yelling, "There can be only one"?  We'd better not end up on the same mission as I think only one would return.

     Also, I need some data, 1) What mods are on my rifle?
                                        2) Do I have my hidden ability yet?  If so, what is it?
                                        3) What is in my regular load-out?
                               Edit:  4) PCS?

     I'm also thinking of building up my own squad, with each member nicknamed after medical personnel, i.e. Sister, Matron, Orderly, GP, etc.  Are you up for this?

    Thanx, that will help somewhat.

    I will go for officer and build up my Med-Evac squad, (named Med-Evac if possible).
    Team must be in white, except for Kaos who will retain his green theme.

    Personnel: 1) 'Matron' - female Specialist with medic perks,
                    2) 'Anaesthetist' - male Specialist with combat hacker perks, and prefers to shut down robotic targets rather than control them, unless the chance to control is over 90%.
                    3) 'Orderly' - female Danish Gunner, (yep, required by tradition to be Danish),
                    4) 'Diagnostician' - male Shinobi, blade-master perks with a shotgun, internal diagnosis is his speciality, not closing the wound is a character fault.

     I would swap out a couple of veterans for squaddies and slowly swap more in as they rank up, but, whichever.  As for the Samurai, I forgot all about them as the class was an extra add-in, so definitely go for the samurai instead of the shinobi. 
     Looks like I might have to re-specc Kaos as well, his current direction is turning out to be somewhat shit, so, gonna see about making him a real sniper.  Is there a time requirement for re-speccing?  (and why does my spell-checker not accept re-specc as a real word?)
     Squad size of 10.............looking forward to that, although I wouldn't want the squad to be too much larger.

Respeccing takes progressively longer with more skills, so he gets to sit out even more operations as his squad grows without him (we have the other Kaos to pretend to be him).

Let's go with Graverobber's current build as tanky samurai and take Tactical Sense. That way if she runs up to an enemy and doesn't kill them she at least has some defense to help her out.

     Oh, man!  Reducing the targets to one hit point Every.  Damn.  Shot.

     Maybe everyone in Heal Bus should have special ammo just to do that extra point of damage at the beginning of the alien's turn, or maybe, the solution is the liberal application of GRENADES.  Yes, I think more grenades is the answer here.

     And the Samurai isn't doing his best simply because he is not in uniform, he will do much better when he is finally in his hospital whites.   Yep, I'm certain that's the problem.

     It seems as though we might need a few more combats before we start to gel as a team, and I need to get used to being in command.  And I will order everyone to use more grenades, I don't want to return to the Skyranger with unused ordinance.  Also, not enough buildings being reduced to burning rubble, and raining debris down on unsuspecting passers-by.

See, this is why I never make a serious character. If i really wanted to optimize Porkins so he would be the perfect character, I wouldnt have him be the build he is. But thats the thing. Whenever I try to do a "tactical" character in any game, It goes poorly. When i do a goofy character and just wing it, be it on a forum (Castle Foxhound) or outside one (My D&D Luchador who successfully suplexed a dragon.) I end up becoming basically a demigod (Or at least fairly good).

Yeah, the blacksite is the kind of mission that all-samurai has some issues with. Too much overwatch and staggered pods so you tend to trigger more than you can take out in a turn.

Oh, well. No one actually died. I guess Vanya gets to go play with other squads for a while as she waits for the rest of the team to heal.

Be warned that saves from 1.2 being run on 1.3 may have some bugs. I experienced a buttload of lag during a mission(And jesus christ, insane amount of ayys with evac very far away). So they will leave 1.2 patch open to download on nexus.

     That was a very quick mission, wish they were all like that.

     Kaos will learn some Double Tap.

     Scalpel is grenades all the way, and seeing as you have that one incendiary grenade kicking around in the supply room, she'll take it in her load-out, plus a gas grenade if you have one.  As for ammo, if you have a  Talon is available, otherwise Tracer until she is promoted a few times and knows how to aim her primary.

Yeah...you can never count on rockets you fire after moving to hit anything at all. And I think 3.8 rounds up to 4 tiles, which is just enough to completely miss.

Yeah. I like the system in general, though the number of enemies the game considers to be a 'moderate' level of difficulty is kinda crazy. But my biggest issue is the sheer length of it. I'd like it if they did a version that was more a normal game length.

IDK, it only took me 71 hours to beat LW2 on beginner. I did skip a bunch of missions at the end though cause I was too lazy to play efficiently. My (unfinished) attempt to beat the game on a high difficulty looked like it would significantly longer, though.

I think the main issue is the mid to late game when things stop changing but (at least on harder difficulties) it's still important to keep going on lots of missions.

     Awesome.  And nearly finished, that puts you in a special club, Ashsaber, being one of those to finish a NuCom, Let's Play, slog.
     Kaos is hitting his stride as a Sharpshooter but is still, annoyingly, missing really easy shots, while at the same time, pulling off overwatch shots at long distance.

     Congrats on finishing Ashsaber, it was truly a marathon effort.  I haven't finished watching the final video, (about halfway), but the number of explosions witnessed thus far has been most satisfying.

If nothing else it's made me really good at playing the game normally.
Just got and finished war of the chosen. Real fuckin' neato to have maps that load in fifteen seconds.
