You slowly open your eyes, taking in the light of the rising sun. Your nest of hay is matted down from your movement during the night. Stepping down, you stretch and think about finding some food. There's usually some mice scurrying about the village stores.

You've just finished your shift as a prep cook at Captain White Seafood, and you are now relaxing at Hains Point.

You look down at your tablet. It's showing the regional news, The Washington Post.

Damaged Relations with the EU and NATO?

Yesterday, President Weston attended a diplomatic meeting with EU president Faulknen, and NATO Secretary General Madigan in Berlin. While the exact contents of the meeting have yet to be released, it is rumored that a large argument broke out between these three leaders when Madigan suggested that the United States pull soldiers from its garrisons in various European states in order to strengthen itself against the rising threat of the Argentinian Republic, who has recently been taking more and more territory from its neighbors. The American president, who is well-known for being paranoid, is said to have taken this as a not-so-subtle move to remove the United States' military presence in Europe so that they could attack and more easily take control of American possessions. President Faulknen is thought to have agreed, prompting Weston to declare that he will be sending more troops to bases in the European continent...
The rest of the article seems to be more speculation and a bit of fear-mongering to convince people to donate to the State Militia fund.

You have an hour or two before you need to get to your night class at the George Washington University. It isn't too far, so you can relax for a bit or go there ahead of time and see if anybody is on campus.

Today's the first day of the school year, and your first grade class of 10 is sitting somewhat timidly in front of you.

You should probably introduce yourself and start them with an icebreaker. You have a book of them on your desk, if you need help coming up with one.

Somewhat minimalist suggestion game. Hopefully kind of short and with updates, this time!

Oh, look another game by Worldmaster. As if he didn't have enough games to pretend to run.

It is the year 18XX, and you, like many other prospective men and women in America, have been sold a plot of land by the railroad companies interested in expanding out west. Now, you are preparing to leave with your family to start a homestead on your new land. You are at the general store to order what you will need for the journey. However, before we get to that, we have to cover who you are.

"Children, children! Settle now. I have a wondrous tale to tell you all, one of dangers fought and immense treasure found..."
"Now, to begin this tale is about a single hero and their thirst for adventure. This thirst led them to a great cavern system known to all as 'Gaia's Depths'. Some say that the Predecessors themselves manufactured it themselves with their grow affinities for digging, and that they made structures inside the depths with a material stronger than any iron.
"Finally, we begin. Our hero is...

So, let's do a fantasy adventure game to do in addition to Obsidian City! Simply put, I will be using Battle for Wesnoth in order to produce the game's images. it turns out that there is no reliable way to take screenshots that don't require tons of editing. So no ISG. But hey, TSG instead right?

You wake up, and look around. The field around you is littered with broken swords and arrows, and an old man is lying facedown in a pile of stones and raw metal. Right next to you is a compound bow, and at your hip is a quiver of 5 arrows. You get up, grab your bow and keep an eye out for any foes.

What to do, what to do?

Hooray for spontaneous, hopefully short, suggestion game inspired by the recent events in the RAEG thread!

This is simply here to record my games and give me something to make more space in my sig. You can discuss my games here, poke at me for not updating, theorycraft, or just whatever. Anyways, my games:

Active
My fantasy RPG suggestion game. Doubles as an experiment for my new magic system. Occasional updates, more often than Plague if there is enough activity. Not at all serious, the PC has a dire space capybara as a companion. Very dark at the moment, if you can read between the lines and have my notes. I'm also going to try and do a plot with this one, if it ever gets far enough. I'm also trying out a skill system I thought of, vaguely based off DF.

Newest game, survival wild west something something just read it.

I'm definitely getting lazier.

;-; please play

Fantasy dungeon crawler, trying to befriend a wolf and enter the actual dungeon currently.

Hiatus
Note: "Hiatus" usually means "I can't be bothered to write an update for this. Either it's too long or I'm being super lazy. Probably both."
It's my zombie-esque survival RtD. 5 max players, though I may change it if the waitlist fills up. Occasional updates, mostly serious. More or less using C:DDA as a basis.
Wow. My very first game. Looking back on it fills me with a sense of "wow lol you sucked at this whole 'game' thing back then lols" I actually really enjoyed that idea and the limited world building. I think that I'll start a new game with the same general idea and mechanics sometime in the near future - I might even revive it if someone wants to necro it and not wait for me to improve on the idea. I don't really have anything else to say about it - this was way before I got my carp together and became a competent GM. On an unrelated note: This is the only game of mine that Lyeos hasn't posted in IIRC. Revived! By Lyeos of course! Now he has posted in all of my games and I grant him an oatmeal cookie with raisins.

Dead
This had all of one update, IIRC.
A hopefully short little SG based around a derail in the RAEG thread about what weapon is the best. Pretty sure it spawned off another derail about katanas. Anyways, the world is split into factions who all use the same weapon because they think it is superior  than all the others and to prove it they want to kill everyone who doesn't use their chosen weapon. So yeah. The protagonist is a bowman.

Sci-Fi suggestion game, it seemingly had tons of interest at the beginning but it seemed to me like no one other than two or three people were still interested in it by the time the game started. It did last for a little while, but ultimately I was too lazy and the updates took too long. It was replaced by a certain fantasy RPG. There is a possibility of it starting up again if many people want me to pick it back up.
Fantasy RPG suggestion game, originally dawnstar's. I took over once he decided to quit. It went on for a long time after that, but I ended up hating that game. It was a good game, no doubt, but I felt stuck with the predefined relationship and I made more than one bad decision that I really should have thought about before doing. The lack of interest really didn't help either. This feels like a giant blemish on my GMing history, and I'd rather leave this out, but I know that Lyeos and possibly Kevak would call me out on it. However, if anyone would like to try and revive it they can ask about it here or PM me.
Silly little RtD I made while bored, it entertained me and possibly others for a little while. Not much to this game really.
In my honest opinion, this was one of my most successful games. I had made this on a whim and it ended up spawning TamerVirus's Spheres of Creation game and I'm pretty sure it directly or indirectly spawned others that I don't know about because I don't necessarily frequent RtD.

The sky above the creature's head was dark with night, barely illuminated by the two moons and billions of stars overhead. As it came around, the creature noticed it was not alone. An animal was by its side, loyalty shining in its eyes. The woods around the two were alive with the workings of the wild. They did not know where they were, just that they were alive and in an unknown world.

The Plague
It doesn't kill. It doesn't make people into zombies, not really. It just feeds off the host. It's a parasite, but like no other thing that has swept into existence. At first, it simply feeds off the host's food and water intake. Then, once it is strong enough, it attacks. Attacks everything. no part of the body is safe. Even the skin. It gets pulled tight, seemingly sucked into the host's body. The organs shrink, miniscule but somehow still functional. And then the brain. For some reason, it gets larger. Some say that the parasite makes itself a hollow in there, but no one's ever wanted to get a good look at it. Where ever it resides, it still feeds off the victim. They need the host. Without the life systems, they die. As such, they're mostly easier to kill than regular people. But then there are the hypers. These guys, they're bad news. They embrace the parasite. They love it. They feed it, take care of it. Protect it. They capture men and women and children who don't already have the thing, and give it to them. You don't want to know how they do it. Stay away from them, if you can. If any of the captives are immune, like some folks, then they kill them and feed the body to the prisoners or eat it themselves. These guys, their fanaticism, makes them strong. Don't ask me how, it just does. Tough to kill. Guns still work, but it won't slow 'em down unless they're dead. Swords or axes are best if they get up close. Can't kill you if they have no limbs. Finally, the bugs get in through open cuts and wounds so keeping them tightly bandaged is important. More so than usual. Now, I've told you what I know, but I haven't traveled around much. I only know what I've been told or encountered. There may be more, dangerous creatures out there, and I don't know what this thing does to animals.

The group of five was silent as they stared into the warm fire and contemplated the man's words of advice. It looked bleak, and it would be dangerous. They knew that. But they also knew that they couldn't sit by and let society crumble around them. They needed to create something, something pure, and away from this madness. They needed to make...
A Bastion from the Plague
A place where law would be restored and no one would have to worry about bugs getting into their skin, turning them into living monstrosities. They wouldn't have to worry if the person next to them was a host, carrying the parasite that would end their life as they knew it. This place was the goal, but the journey would be long.

Well, that's done. If you read all that, you may have guessed this is my take on a 'Zombie Survival' game. The end goal will be to create a fortress impervious to all assault and immune to any chance of parasites getting in, thus making a stable place for society to flourish once again. Also surviving. That too.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Alone (Plenty of [spoiler]s)
« on: May 26, 2014, 07:52:16 pm »
Adrift, in the vastness of space. Alone, your crew the only company.
You are the captain of a ship in humanity's finest fleet of starships. You are well on your way to becoming the admiral of the entire force.  The most powerful creation made by man, all to be under your control. At least, it. The reason mankind created such a fleet was to combat the only other spacefaring species - the L'Vasi. The L'Vas were initially friendly, actually giving humanity basic FTL technology. It was only after the rapid colonization of planets and a few wars fought between advanced nations that they began to rethink their decision. And to the L'Vasi, the only way to quell man's hunger for land and power was to eradicate them. The war was long, new creatures came into the fold as each power gifted various soilbound species spaceflight. There were new allies and enemies around every corner. Eventually, mankind grew tired of this war and wanted to end it. So they made the Armada - your fleet. The intent was to find and destroy the L'Vasi homeworld. You found it, alright, but they were waiting for the Armada. It was destroyed, and humanity no longer had great power. As far as you know, you were the only ship to make it out. When you returned to Earth, all you found was a new L'Vas colony. The same has been for nearly every world humanity has come to call home.
There is no more mankind.

Hooray! Snaek! The goal is, using whatever means necessary, get rid of the snake without damaging the thing you want to get. Bonus points if you don't kill it!

Previous update:
Yeah, let's check.
You tell Mel what you're going to do, and you all spend the next couple of hours trying to find loose bricks. The wall between you and Vin is very weak, and the rear wall of your cell has a few loose stones, but none lead anywhere but dirt and stone. Vin reports that his opposite wall is sturdy, and so is the back one. Mel hasn't said anything about the condition of her cell, but it must be fairly sturdy. You have to stop searching when you hear footsteps coming from the western hallway. A soldier appears, bearing a platter of bread and cups of water. He sets a cup in each cell, and tosses everyone two rolls of bread each. Once you've all finished, the guard takes the cups away and leaves.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Armies of Kallamere (This is back!)
« on: April 08, 2014, 04:05:38 pm »
Armies of Kallamere

You are a knight in the Kingdom of Kallamere. You've served in your lord's army for three years, ascending through the ranks to where you are now - second only to your lord himself. Your lord's name is Teldin Lofmire, and he is a Signate, one of the men responsible for maintaining and leading the King's armies.

You are currently marching through a dense forest, coming closer to a bandit group's hideout. Days before, Signate Lofmire received word of a group of brigands that needed to be taken care of. The bandits were becoming increasingly troublesome; they were raiding caravans and burning local villages. Believing this to be a simple task, Lofmir only left with his retinue and a score of men at arms. Now, you can feel that someone was watching your progress. Before you know it, the woods around you are filled with a strange whirring sound, reminding you of a bee's hum. Suddenly the world around turns to nothing as a slingstone slams into the side of your helmet, knocking you over. Somehow you manage to faintly hear someone shout, "Ambush!"

Falling unconscious saved your life, as the assaulting bandits took you for dead. It is late evening when you awake, finding the survivors of the attack huddled around a small fire. You move over to join them. One man, another retainer named Oliver, looks up your approach. "You're alive! We thought for sure that stone had ended you," he says. You sit on a nearby rock and reply,"It feels like it. It's going to hurt for a while. What's happened and who has survived? Where's Signate Lofmire?" The men around the fire look away when you mention Lofmire. A sergeant speaks up hesitantly,"My lord, he.. he was killed by that pig, Emerson, their leader. He had snuck up behind the Signate in the battle and kill't him from behind! After that he demanded surrender." One of the men at arms continues,"We complied. They took all our arms, but they left us our armor. Guess they want us to spread the word of how powerful they are." A minute of silence follows. Oliver breaks it with a short laugh. "They're mistake. I'll make them pay for what they've done." Another surviving knight, Ulman, speaks to you, "Well, what will you have us do? You'll be our Signate now you know." He's right, the position of Signate, unlike other titles, isn't handed down through kinship, it is given through rank. As Lofmire's second, you will be expected to assume his place. However, you have other worries at the moment. Your head is still swimming and you can't remember some things. You need to remember what your name is. What weapon did you use? What were you particularly good at and was there anything else important that you need to remember about your past? You should also decide what to do; the castle at which you were staying is three days away. However, the brigands only left you with a day's supply of food. You have a total of twenty eight men left, of the original forty five. One man tells you that there had been at least four score of the bandits.
