I watched the first episode of Game of Thrones with mom. Trying to explain all the plot threads that led to the events of the first episode made me realize how insanely dedicated I am to this show, and A Song of Ice and Fire in general. And whenever she was disgusted by all the sex and violence, I pointed out that she loves Braveheart and absolutely doesn't mind if I watch that. :P

I think the show was actually toned down from the books, and the show is still the sexiest thing I've watched that wasn't just straight-up pornography. There definitely are a few "come on, did we really need this?" moments.

Nah, the show is way more hyper-sexualized than the book. The book has sex, but it tends to be played for drama, rather than views like most of it in the show is.

It seems to drop off a lot after the first few episodes (not completely, obviously.). I reckon it was catch the attention of people who watch for the boobs, and then they stay for the plot.
