Why not both?

My toothache is back and I mentioned it to my mother, since it's probably going to make me pretty irritable.
She suggested going to a dentist. When I reminded her of the years-long waiting lists dentists always have, she clarified that she meant a private dentist. Oh, I laughed and laughed.

You should still put yourself on that waiting list though. Otherwise in a year you'll have a year's build up worse toothache put still just as long on the waiting list before you can see anyone about it.

If it gets unbearable, can't you go to a GP and have him refer you to an emergency dentist?

Someone cheeky over at thorndike slipped a 666 into the isbn of a book of christian fiction dealing with the rapture. For those that want to see it, have a link to a random library in Kansas that apparently has the exact edition in their catalog: http://catalog.tscpl.org/polaris/search/title.aspx?ctx=1.1033.0.0.5&pos=1&cn=1080951

I am not sure if this belongs here or in the WTF thread.

This page is still actively giving very very very old advice.

Note, the prominent mentions of Netscape Communicator.
That is software that is likely to be older than most of the userbase here. :P

The other day I caught a glimpse of an ad for Athlete's Foot (a chain of shoe stores across Australia) that began with someone showering in their sports shoes.
Like, yeah, that's a good way to get some athlete's foot for yourself, I guess... :))    I suppose that could have been an intentional joke, but somehow I doubt it.

Why would you name your footwear store after a fungal infection that primarily affects the part of the body for which you’re selling accoutrements? Madness.

Though if it was a public shower, wearing your shoes isn’t a bad idea to avoid actually getting it... so long as you washed the shoes and let them dry out proper afterward.

A) I honestly don't know, maybe the founder of the company had a great sense of humour. I might have to look it up.

B) if it were a pair of rubber sandals they were wearing this wouldn't have been weird at all. But nope, some kind of running shoes, probably with fabric lining and all that. Even if you don't wind up with a fungal infection, imagine the chafing.

This.  It's not a fun time, and I... consider it bad press to associate a brand with fricken athletes foot!

It's Australia, shits upside down. Maybe intentional bad press/bad choice of brand names translates to good sales in Australian markets?
