Title: (SG) You are a forgotten beast!
Post by: Puppyguard on April 01, 2017, 03:48:29 pm
Finally. After eons of searching, you have found it.
A tunnel to the surface. You have been trapped in the caverns for so long, you don't even remember your name.
Finally, you are free from the darkness that you have dwelt in. Finally you are free to see sunlight, drink fresh river water, eat whatever game you wish, look at the clouds an-
But what's this? smoke in the distance, lights inside wooden structures. Villages litter the previously beautiful landscape.
The surface races have pollutated the surface since your banishment to the caverns, decimated the forests, and ruined the mountains. You remember a time when they were not so numerous,
and you remember it well. several millenia ago you were created along with six others, to guard a shrine that contained a piece of the artifact of power.
The artifact was in sevenths, each shrine contained a shard. whoever united the shards would be unstoppable. so you guarded the shrine with your life. for years. Adventurers came and went.
Some preferred to examine the shrine from a distance, Others wished the shard for themselves, and they quickly became delicious snacks for you.
But one day you felt your cousins dying. One by one their connection with you was severed. and as the strongest of the forgotten beasts, you were confronted last by their murderers.
You saw their party of sixteen approaching. six wizards, ten champions. Knowing your cousins were all dead, you created a decoy out of trees, grass and moss.

Their champions entered the shrine with their weapons drawn, and assumed you were asleep. Little did they know you were right above them, waiting for the chance to strike.
The wizards entered the shrine and began whispering to one another. then they drew wands and pointed them at the decoy. There was a blinding flash of light, and the decoy was replaced by a pile of ash.
That's when you struck. Landing on a wizard from above, you clamped down on his head. Dropping him you then leapt onto another, before the champions could react, you had killed all the wizards.
Except one. Sivazi the great, an elf wizard. He saw you coming and jumped out of the way, behind the champions. Without his comrades to aid him, he was unable to cast the powerful spell of destruction.
The champions of the three races began fighting you, and he cast the spell of banishment, using up his life essence, and forcing you into the deepest darkest pit of the earth.

But that's the past, this is the present. You must deal with this blight that has surfaced in your absence.
What is your name?
What is your appearance? (I.E. A giant iguana, a blob. etc... must be fleshy though.)
What is your special ability? (I.E. Poisonious gas, Fire breath. Hunger for warm blood. etc... Nothing too powerful like massive explosions.)

What is your name? We are Kisat Urn-Blade of the Girded Irons.

What is your appearance? We take the form of a chimeric algamation of creatures. Our body is as a Dragonfly's, though in place of its appendages we have a multitude of skittering Centipede's legs, and a pair of large bladed Crab's pincers are our foremost limbs. We have the head of an Armadillo, though we have a pair of antennae, three Cat's eyes and a pair of fearsome Ant's mandibles in place of a jaw.

What is your special ability? We are coated with a viscous slime that allows us to escape all but the strongest grasp, against our chitinous, slimy form all but the truest of arrows slide off as rain against the stone and the hottest of flames are extinguished as if they came against the ocean. We produce great quantities of this slime and leave it everywhere we go, if it is consumed by mortals their eyes will be opened to the maddening, unspeakable truth of reality, and they will never be the same. If we wish, we are able to use our pincers to fling slime with unerring accuracy.

It's OK that this isn't DF-esque, right?

Name: Felzidae Pesuin, the King of Claws.

Appearance: A giant, six-legged lion, the middle pair of legs being long enough to reach in front of us. The frontmost legs end in large curved claws that bear another set of retractible, sharper claws beneath them. The hide turns to a blackish grey from the collarbone down, while the oversized mane bears a dirty red hue above it.

Special ability: Felzidae's mere presence invokes a feral nature in man and animal alike, and while the civilized can resist it, mammals fall under its sway rather quickly. Those under his influence become obedient of the King, though losing all but a primal, feral intelligence, and with extended time in his presence, grow bestial features, usually claw-first, until they are a beastly form that conceals the bare form they once were. The civilized are rather resistant to these effects, but a single wound can be enough to make a man reveal the wild nature he hid so many millennia ago.

Name: Epo

Appearance: A huge feathered python. It has large mandibles and undulates rhythmically. Its black feathers are long and narrow.

Special ability: Beware its fire! Epo can breath a fireball that, while not looking very powerful, is as hot as dragonfire. However, Epo can only fire up to five fireballs until he needs to stop and let his fire build up again.

Name: Rogknok

Appearance: You are a giant monsterous gorilla. You have long enhancing tusks. Instead of arms, you have six powerful tentacles. Your fur is a dark red, almost black in color. Your eyes glow purple in the dark.

Special ability: Rapid regeneration. Moments after being injured you begin to heal rapidly. Within a few more moments after that, you've healed fully. If someone is to slay you, they must do it quickly.

You are Kisat Pesuin the Silk Epo Rogknok.
And you look like a mixture of several creatures, You have six massive feline legs, with the middle pair being long enough to reach in front of you. Your left rear leg has a ☼Large Cave Spider Silk Sock☼ equipped on it.
You have a giant dragonfly's abdomen covered in dark red fur, and a pair of large, powerful tentacles sprouting from it. For a head you have a gigantic black feathered python with long tusks in addition to poisonless fangs. You have purple eyes.

Your mere presence invokes a feral nature in man and animal alike, and while the civilized can resist it, mammals fall under its sway rather quickly. Those under your influence become obedient of you, though losing all but a primal, feral intelligence, and with extended time in his presence, grow bestial features, usually claw-first, until they are a beastly form that conceals the bare form they once were. The civilized are rather resistant to these effects, but a single wound can be enough to make a man reveal the wild nature he hid so many millennia ago. This can sometimes be broken by a powerful wizard or your death, but the bestial features will remain.

You step out of the dark tunnel, feeling the sun's warmth upon you once again.
Now that you are free, it is time to destroy this blight that has ruined this world, and claim revenge for your banishment.
You have several choices:
A) Head to the dwarven hillocks
B) Head to the human hamlets
C) Head to the elven forest retreats.
D) Head to a forest and find some large wildlife for an army.
E) Head somewhere else.

You decide to head to the shrine you were guarding.
...
After a few days you stumble upon the shrine's stone remains.
Cracked with age and vandalism, its former glory is still fresh in your memory.
You weep in sadness. The grass around you melts from your tears.
Inside the shrine are several new pictures and symbols, you have no idea what they mean, but they are crudely drawn.
In the near center there is a large scorch mark, presumably from the banishment spell.
...
Quote from: The six-sided die
4
You make your way to the forest near the shrine. and stumble upon a giant lion covered in scar marks. It is missing several toes.
It snarls at you and you circle eachother.
Because of its size it appears to be resistant to your dominance. Or it might be magically enchanted or just have massive willpower.
Eitherway, it intimidates you slightly. You will have to deal with this creature if you want to proceed.

A) Fight it!
You're several times larger than this puny creature,
You could probably easily defeat it. Unless it has help.
A giant lion would make a nice first kill.

B) Dominate it!
Whatever is helping this thing can be broken with your sheer concentration, or by inflicting a few, painful wounds.
A giant lion could be a valuable asset, as long as you don't damage it too much.

C) Flee! Tactical retreat.
You just got to the surface recently, and you don't know your full power.
If this thing is capable of resisting your dominance, it clearly has help.

You snarl loudly at the giant lion. and it backs away slightly. And then leaps at you!
Quote from: The dice

Your tentacles extend but grab air. Its claws connect with your face and scratch several feathers off.
Hissing in pain, you pin it down with your middle pair of legs. You glare into its eyes, and the giant lion howls in pain as its mind fries.
...
You have gained a new minion.

Where will you go next?
A) More forest exploration, one giant lion isn't going to cut it.
Surely the surface races have grown in power since your banishment, you will need a larger army. Then again, you are a forgotten beast. you could probably handle anything they throw at you.
B) To a village!
Time to test out this giant lion! Besides, the surface races need to SUFFER. They could also have some dogs or cats you could steal.
C) To a town!
You're powerful. You can take on anything the puny surface races use against you.
D) Somewhere else?

Rinvo had just finished plowing the fields. He was making his way to his house when he heard a loud crashing from the forest.
Moving to investigate, he felt strangely disturbed, and instilled with intense, primal rage. Shaking the feeling He crouched down and looked from behind a tree. And he saw a massive monstrosity moving towards the village! He knew he must warn them before it's too late! He turned to run, only to be greeted by a horrifying black furred giant lion. He knew it was already too late.
...
Mmm, Human flesh. It's been some time since you had eaten anything other than giant cave spiders.

You arrive at the village from the forest with the crescent moon high in the sky. Patrolling the roads between houses are approximately 13 unarmored pitchfork and torch wielding humans. They could be trouble for your giant lion, but not you. Some of them seem to be disturbed by your presence as they are shaking or holding their heads. You can sense several pet animals inside the houses, and you could turn those against the sleeping villagers. There's also some livestock somewhere, but you're not sure where.

A) CHAAAARGE!
You and your lion will charge at the town watch, then move onto the houses.
You will dominate any pets if possible.

B) Quiet-like charge
You will remain hidden and your lion will go into houses and kill villagers.
You will dominate any pets if possible.

C) Destruction Charge
Your lion will keep the town watch off you as you destroy houses and villagers.
You will dominate any pets if possible.

D) Hit and run
Hit a house, dominate pets, kill villagers, then run. Repeat until village is destroyed.
E) Tactical retreat!

F) Something else?

3what? again?
You charge out of the forest and slam your first pair of tusks into a guard's upper body, killing him instantly.
The rest of the guardsman rapidly organize a crude pike wall, and make a half circle around the front of you.
Meanwhile, your giant lion smashes through windows and quietly slices the throats of the sleeping villagers.
You hear shouting from some houses, which ends with screaming. The guardsmen are too busy dealing with you to investigate.

You extend your tentacles and lift up two guards, who you shake around like a pair of maracas. Then you gleefully chomp down on their heads. A guard splits out of the crude pitchfork wall and flees towards the chapel. You swing your left front paw around, and when the wall moves to counter it your right front paw slams into their side, slicing a man in half and severely wounding several others. Moments later you hear loud ringing from the chapel's tower, and it doesn't take long for the entire village to wake up.

Barely a hundred sixty villagers emerge from their houses to investigate the reason for the bell ringing, Some appear too terrified but others pull themselves together and arm themselves. You feel several sharp pains in your backside as a few thrown knives and rocks collide with it, and while you're distracted the four remaining guards stab your right front leg.

A) Whirl around and deal with the villagers
The guards are too crippled to be a threat now, The villagers are the real threat. Besides, there's more villagers than guards.
B) Guards first, Then villagers.
Those guards are going to be trouble if you don't stop them now. Sure, there are only four, but a well timed stealthy pitchfork strike could take out an eye.

You let loose a massive screech and spin around with your tentacles, knocking over villagers left and right. Breaking out of the spin you charge through the field of stunned villagers towards the chapel. Stomping on their bodies, you leap onto the chapel causing it to creak and sway. and then you open your purple eyes incredibly wide, unleashing an eldritch power which swirls and enters the minds of the animals.
The dogs and cats inside the villager's houses run out, now loyal to you, and feral to their previous masters.

Within the hour, the village is slaughtered. You eat some of the bodies, allowing you to heal somewhat. After some time here, you begin seeing white ghosts that appear restrained to the bodies. You guess these are souls. You know you can collect humanoid souls. You snarl and they begin swirling and entering your purple eyes.

You begin to hear a voice.
"Kisat..." The voice reverberates in your head.
"I can offer you great power..."
"But only if you agree to give me the souls of the villages you destroy..."

A) Agree to give the entity the souls.
Power? SURE.
B) Decline the entity's offer.
You can find a use for these souls at a later date.
C) Wait a second, What kind of power?
This seems very fishy, and very convenient that it contacts you just as you destroyed a village.

Where do you go next?
A) A forest.
One giant lion slew at least five villagers. Imagine what twelve could do.
B) Another village!
Gotta keep razing these things!
C) A City!
One hundred souls from a village, one thousand from a city?
D) Somewhere else?

C) Wait a second, What kind of power?

I have no objections to us forming an agreement to exchange souls for power, but first I want to know who or what we're dealing with here, and how exactly this works. We're no mortal, we'll speak to this being on equal terms, and expect the same from it.

A) A forest.

As much as I'd like to raze another village, it would be foolish not to consolidate our power while we're in a position to do so.

Well so long as it is only souls from villages it should be okay. If we don't like the trade then we can still get plenty from towns, cities, hamlets, burgs, farmsteads, foresthomes, goblin towers, siege camps...

You ask the entity who it is and what kind of power it could give you.
"Hrm. I am Dubinkor. The villagers referred to me as 'an evil spirit', but I'm more of a fallen god."
"You see, I was banished for 'purifying' certain mortals. The other gods rose up against me and took my power from me. I need their souls to get to my fallen throne once more. Just one hundred fifty or so would be enough to get me started."
"As for the power, I have several things I can bestow upon you."

Sharp tentacles Dubinkor will augment your tentacles with deadly serrated spikes. This will make them frighteningly sharp but reduce your ability to grasp with them.
Augmented Muscles Dubinkor will augment your leg muscles to allow you to leap incredibly high, such as over a 50ft wall. Be aware of fall damage!
Camoflauge skin Dubinkor will augment your flesh to camoflauge when commanded. A large creature like you will be able to use this cleverly in caves, but it won't work very well in open areas.
Ghost Decoy Dubinkor will augment your mind, allowing you to project a ghostly decoy of yourself. To the untrained eye, it will appaer to be you. However, it will require your utmost concentration in order to not dissipate. The decoy also has some physical abilities aswell. It is unable to pass through walls but it can float.
Poison Dart Dubinkor will augment your throat, allowing you to shoot an acidic armor-melting dart. Good for hitting an important target.
Poison Tentacles Dubinkor will augment your tentacles with a venom sac at the tip, allowing you to sting a foe and inject a lethal poison.
Commanding Speech Dubinkor will augment your throat with proper vocal chords, allowing you to command your minions specifically or terrify men into submission. This lets you speak and understand any civilized language.

Actually, I don't want anything, I think I'll keep the souls for myself.

You inform the entity you would like it to grant you commanding speech.
"Commanding speech it is then."
"Simply eject the souls out and I will begin the process."
You open your purple eyes and eject one hundred fifty souls through them, Perhaps too many at once, since it does cause some physical pain having that much energy leave your massive skull. A blue sphere appears a few feet away from you and starts slurping the souls up.
A few moments pass and then it fires a blue beam at your throat, causing some minor discomfort as your new vocal chords grow.
"I will contact you again when you have the right amount of souls." And with that, the sphere dissipates.

Lieutenant Jovnor was heating some yak jerky inside the camp cookpot, it always tasted disgusting when cold.
Just as he was about to begin eating, one of the scouts came into the cooking tent.
"Sir, We've found something we'd like you to take a look at." the scout said with his whole body shaking.
Jovnor sighed. "What could be so important that you have to interrupt my dinner?"
"You'd better see for yourself sir." Jovnor sighed again and left his warm food in the cookpot. The scout handed him a spyglass and he looked through. Jovnor gasped. "Wha..." "What could cause this level of destruction?"
Through the spyglass he could see a destroyed village. "Inform the rest of the men, we're moving out tonight."

Quote

You quietly stalk into the forest with your minions behind you. Annoyingly, they make it very difficult to hear anything with their loud rustling. With a quiet grunt you order them to cease movement, and go in alone. Some time after you hear some grunting ahead of you.
Looking through the leaves you spot four wild pigs, two boars, a piglet and a sow. The boars are fighting eachother.
You leap out of the bushes and roar at the wild pigs. Eldritch magics shoot out of your eyes like lightning and smack each pig in the head.
Each pig shakes its head, trying to resist your power. But ultimately they submit to your will. You send them to regroup with the rest of the horde and go hunt for more.
Several hours later you accumulate 28 wild pigs in addition to the four you found already. Your horde is starting to get quite large.

Where do you go next?
A) Stay in the forest and keep hunting for minions.
The amount you have is insufficient! Any decent militia could easily butcher them.
B) Head to another village.
You could find more souls or perhaps convert some humans to your cause.
C) Take on a small town
Surely you're strong enough yourself to destroy a small town!
D) Somewhere else?

I think it is time for The Legend of Kitteny Demise. We lurk around the town and send cats out in groups to lure townfolk for recruitment or devouring.

You rally your horde and make your way towards the nearest village, which is easy to find due to the large amount of smoke it produces.
Several hours later you arrive. Regrettably, the village does not have any large brush or trees near it. This will make a stealth attack difficult to pull off, but still plausible.
It is currently mid-day, several humans are patrolling, but they do not appear to be aware of your presence.

What is your plan of attack?
A) Wait until nightfall and then dominate the sleeping villagers.
They should be easy to dominate in their weakened state.
B) Wait until nightfall and then go on a rampage destroying everything in sight, and dominating potential pets.
You're a big and tough creature with over 70 animals to help you, you could do some serious damage.
C) Go on a rampage NOW!!!
You could be spotted if you try to wait until nightfall, attacking now will let you get the edge on the villagers!

D) Something else?

d Send several cats to just sleep in the open at random points around the treline to lure out the curious. If they draw out a few, then they duck back into the forest where any pursuers are captured or eaten. If they lure many, tjen burn down the village while it is undermanned. If they lure none then a.

You order the horde to hide in the forest until nightfall, And you hide with them.
Quote
6*
Several villagers come into the forest to gather berries, you snap each neck silently from behind with a tentacle. You devour the corpses so not to leave any evidence, and collect the souls. The hours pass and no more villagers come for a time, but night falls and you begin to see faint torches approaching. A rescue party perhaps? A group of thirteen men armed with pitchforks and torch, looking for their friends.
Quote
7!
You order the horde to attack and they gleefully leap out of the brush, leaping on the surprised men and ripping flesh and bone apart. Screaming, they flail around trying to defend themselves, but they are overwhelmed so fast you don't even lose a single minion.
You collect their fallen souls.

After disposing of the minor distraction you order the horde to follow you into the village, and you begin letting loose eldritch magics from your eyes and into the minds of sleeping villagers.
Quote
7!how?
The villagers collectively fail to resist entirely, jolting awake and running outside, bowing before you.
You move on to their livestock and pets, dominating them too. This bolsters your numbers significantly.

Where do you go next?
A) Another village
More minions are always great.
B) A small town
Imagine the terror you could inflict!
C) A large town
You're big and bad, you could easily take one of these on!
D) Somewhere else?

We need to keep building forces and keep our enemies divided until no one can stop us.
Think Russia in HOI 4,
or Malcador in the beyonders series, if anyone has read that.
