Hard to tell whether it was a high quality graphic from a game or something else.

Aw man, I played that game. It was awesome.

Yeah, A in this case refers to a hypothetical element somewhere in the hypothetical "island" of stable superdense elements.

Adamantine is from the greek Adamantos actually- seen in the Theogony, where it's the material that the sickle Gaia gives Cronos to… "deal with" Uranus. It's the root that we eventually get Diamond from, but it's never really clear how to translate it, especially in that story. (For some reason "grey flint" is a relatively common translation)

Adamantium, adamantine and so on and so forth (as fictional metals anyway) seem to come from this story, and in that sense it's appropriate. A metal that can cut the gods, which is sprung forth from the earth.

just wondering, do you have any evidence of such a hypothetical island?  From what I know, most everything beyond Uranium has a half life of about a few seconds MAX.

EDIT: wrong element

The island has been theorized, but no elements there have been discovered as of yet. They would be extremely heavy.

inb4 'Untrinonium'.

(Just a random element. Would be element number 139)

You're actually going in the wrong direction. This island is actually above Hydrogen on the periodic table(that's right, they have a negative amount of protons and electrons; not to be confused with antimatter, which is normal elements composed of negatively charged protons and positively charged electrons). This causes elements like adamine to have a negative weight, which is why the compound known as Adamantine is so lightweight, because it contains the negatively-weighted adamine.

Some its made of some kind of negative matter or something?

From a leather armor prop site, yes.
It was a bitch to find, believe me.

The "Island of Stability" theory does not involve negative subatomic particles; even wikipedia could tell you that. It illustrates that there might be some elements even larger/heavier than the ones we've synthesized that are actually stable. They're still trying to reach that point, and striving for it has created all the elements beginning with "U" at the bottom of the table.

Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

If a dragon tries to bite your head off, you jump. you jump high.

then, as it swallows you whole, you still have your sword. Wink.
