Backstory:
Freyja was born as the sole daughter of the House of Frostwind, a name that dates back hundreds of years. They "rule" from their stronghold-like estate, dubbed 'The Crown of Ice' by the peasantry, out in the wastes. The Frostwinds have been the foothold for those expanding out further into the waste, to hold back the tide of evil. They're a friendly house, always welcoming any guest to their warm hearth, and to partake in their fresh mutton. They also often pay adventurers to help the further out settlements (which they often levy taxes from), when the adventurous and warrior house doesn't partake in it themselves. Their thirst for adventure strives from the third house ruler many many generations ago, Holmbjorn II, arguably the most powerful ruler of the noble house. Freyja, looks up to her ancestor, and thirsts for adventure as her blood before her did, striving for such incredible honor and title... but she's a little off, when it comes to being the greatest warrior in her house. Anyways, Freyja grew up in her estate, opting out of her mother's attempts at grooming her for command more than anything else. She instead, took up the sword and shield to follow in the footsteps of her adventurous ancestors. Her father (Ymir) admired the combativeness in her fiery youth. And thus, once Freyja became of age, she was sent out to help out in the Wastes, as a true Frostwind warrior would. However, a year before the beginning of our story, House Aumont (bannermen to House Frostwind), slaughtered Freyja's family at a feast, as the Emperor dubbed her house traitors. With this catastrophic event, Freyja vowed to herself to clear her family name, and restore House Frostwind to the Crown of Ice.
Upon her arrival to the capital, Freya quickly found herself in good company. Her own party of adventurers, who banded together after an attack against the Emperor's heir himself. After driving off the threat, the party was called to the Royal Palace, and rewarded by the Emperor for their bravery. However, upon her request of restoring the Frostwind name, she was pardoned, to be the first of her house. A new House Frostwind. No land, no honor, just herself. Her journeys aimed to forward her progress toward the Crown of Ice. To her homeland. In her travels with the guild, one particular trip stood out. A trip to the North, to find an ancient relic. That relic, was Winter's Herald, the ancient broadsword of Holmbjorn II, imbued with the runes of the Ancients. It was being used by an undead Ogre, who managed to break the blade's magical properties temporarily. For now, it lays dormant. A shell of its formal self, waiting to be repaired.
