Title: What are the correct moves in an Uncertain context?
Post by: Scoops Novel on February 16, 2022, 06:34:09 pm
Reflecting on how uncertain our future is, the thought struck me that securing your position seems like the obvious move. Geopolitically, doesn't that mean we're going to make the Cold War look like a joke pretty soon?

Very arguably for 21st century chaos. It's more like going out somewhere famous for freakish weather right in the middle of summer. Climb that.

Castle, always castle when you don't know what's going on. Develops your rook whilst keeping the King relatively safe

You should claim stalemate.

Taking this seriously...

King to e2

Getting the King, metaphorically, a little involved is a good move. You've got to start swinging imo. Playing it completely safe is stupid.

The King very much is not in play these days. The King is playing in hollywood somewhere. Not exactly primo leadership of late, though i'd say we're working on it.

Castle, always castle when you don't know what's going on. Develops your rook whilst keeping the King relatively safe

Conversely, securing your position is sensible. Adding angles. Not over-exposing the King.

But... modern Kings are plentiful. And unpracticed. Getting in over thier head seems like a better way to get some decent ones.

You should claim stalemate.

There's stuff like the agreement on Lethal Autonomous Weapons, but it's not going to be toed long-term.

Just in general, a tech freeze could be attempted at a certain point but it's never going to work.

I was solely referring to the chess situation, the king being both alive and dead

Seize power through Chaos, obviously.

Flip the table, no one can win the chess game if the pieces are everywhere!
