There are 50 potions in front of you. You may choose ONE.  The vast majority of them are positive or neutral, but there might be one or two negative ones. Here's what the potions look like:

1.This potion is a very dark pink color with a thick slate pulp floating in it. It's held in a copper container shaped like flat edged rectangle with a wide, conical neck. The container is reasonably sized and sealed with a cork.

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells sharp. It tastes of vanilla.

2.This potion is a cold white color with streaks of jade. It's held in a coiled ceramic bottle, coated with biege glaze. It's tiny and sealed with a cork.

The fluid inside has a foamy consistency and smells smoky. It tastes of fresh bread and pumpkin pie.

3.This potion is a dull sea green color. It's held in a bulbous ceramic jug, sloppily coated with ugly green glaze. It's reasonably sized and sealed with wax. The container has been carefully pained with an intricate floral pattern.

The fluid inside has a silky consistency and smells musty and of mint. It tastes of seaweed and , much more strongly, of coconut.

4.This potion is a fetid amber color. It's held in a iron container shaped like a sharp edged rectangle with a sharp edged, pyramid shaped neck. The container is fairly large and sealed with a cork and a wax coating.

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells of baby powder and of medicine. It tastes of yogurt and alcohol.

5.This potion is a warm brass color. It's held in a green and yellow two lobed gourd. It is quite large and sealed with a cork..

The fluid inside has a waxy consistency and smells of vanilla and of acid. It tastes of candy corn and lemon.

6.This potion is a dark purple color. It's held in a bulbous ceramic jug, coated with white glaze. It's unreasonably large and sealed with a twine wrapped wax seal. The image of a sickle has been carved on the side of the container.

The fluid inside has a gooey consistency and smells musty. It tastes of graphite.


7.This potion is a bright emerald color with a layer of blue-green lumps at the bottom. It's held in a silver container shaped like flat edged rectangle with a long wide mouthed neck. The container is palm sized and sealed with an animal fat plug.

The fluid inside has a oily consistency and smells of almonds and of wet earth. It tastes overwhelmingly of fabric and a hint of licorice.


8.This potion is a multi-tone indigo color. It's held in a translucent, sky blue colored glass container shaped like a beaker with an extremely long and thin neck. The container is fist sized and sealed with a heavy, oversized glass plug with a spherical top.

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells sweet. It tastes powerfully of sweat and copper.

9.This potion is a very dark aqua color. It's held in a orange water jug gourd. It is tiny and sealed with a cork restrained with twine..

The fluid inside has a lumpy consistency and smells pungent. It tastes of rotten meat and fat.

10.This potion is a dark turquoise color with a thick blue-green pulp floating in it. It's held in a brass container shaped like a cicada with a short, thin neck. The container is palm sized and sealed with a cork.

The fluid inside has a honey-like consistency and smells of gasoline. It tastes of cola and butterscotch.

11.This potion is a sickly cyan color with a layer of cyan shavings along the bottom. It's held in a bulbous ceramic bottle, sloppily coated with sky blue glaze. It's fist sized and sealed with a cork restrained with twine.

The fluid inside has a thickly viscous consistency and smells sharp. It tastes of bleach.

12.This potion is a dull brass color with a crimson film across its surface. It's held in a green and yellow Chinese bottle gourd. It is quite large and sealed with a sticky mass of honeycomb..

The fluid inside has a syrupy consistency and smells of fresh bread. It tastes of bacon.

13.This potion is a pastel red color. It's held in a dark brown water jug gourd. It is absurdly small and sealed with a cork and a wax coating..

The fluid inside has a gelatinous consistency and smells of disinfectant and of flowers. It tastes of grapes and licorice.

14.This potion is a pure charcoal color with a layer of pink lumps at the bottom. It's held in a brass container shaped like a cicada with a thin, curving neck. The container is fairly large and sealed with a cork.

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells rancid and of foulness. It tastes of charcoal and strawberry.

15.This potion is a dull white color with a turquoise crust along the top. It's held in a rough ceramic jug, coated with pale purple glaze. It's palm sized and sealed with an odd fleshy lump. A historical scene has been painted on the side of the container.

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells of burnt hair. It tastes of ash.

16.This potion is a bright beige color with swirls and currents of purple fluid. It's held in a green and yellow flattened ovoid gourd. It is fairly large and sealed with a gold cap with tiny, multicolor gems around the edge..

The fluid inside has a silky consistency and smells earthy and of lemon juice. It tastes of fish oil.

17.This potion is a translucent plum color with a fine silver powder suspended within it. It's held in a frosted, purple colored glass container shaped like a sphere with a very stubby, wide mouthed neck. The container is palm sized and sealed with a plant, which seems to have grown up, out of the fluid. It has CONTAMINO scratched into the glass on the bottom.

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells earthy. It tastes overwhelmingly of root beer and a hint of pumpkin pie.

18.This potion is a sickly blue color. It's held in a speckled, colorless glass container shaped like a flat bottomed sphere with a short, thin neck. The container is palm sized and sealed with a wooden plug. It leaves a small bloody puddle or stain wherever it is set.

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells metallic. It tastes of apple and bile.

19.
This potion is a neon blue-green color with crimson crystalline growths on the sides and bottom. It's held in a copper container shaped like a test tube with a sharp edged, pyramid shaped neck. The container is fist sized and sealed with a sticky mass of cobwebs.

The fluid inside has a gelatinous consistency and smells of fresh bread. It tastes of vanilla.

20.This potion is a warm crimson color. It's held in a brass container shaped like a round cornered rectangle with an extremely large, jar like mouth. The container is palm sized and sealed with a golden stopper carved to resemble a tiny king.

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells of fetid water. It tastes weakly of salt.

21.This potion is a glossy orange color with streaks of jade. It's held in a silver container shaped like a ridged, sharp cut, diamond with a thin, curving neck. The container is fairly large and sealed with a metal cap.

The fluid inside has a chunky consistency and smells of garlic. It tastes of butterscotch.

22.This potion is a disgusting violet color with swirls and currents of azure fluid. It's held in a beige Chinese bottle gourd. It is palm sized and sealed with a cork..

The fluid inside has a impossibly fluid consistency and smells of bile. It tastes powerfully of old cheese and cola.

23.This potion is a neon goldenrod color with a fine plum powder suspended within it. It's held in a speckled, sky blue colored glass container shaped like a test tube with an absurdly long, tapered neck. The container is fairly large and sealed with a golden stopper carved to resemble a tiny king.

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells of chemicals. It tastes of olive oil and almonds.

24.This potion is a cold green color. It's held in a smooth ceramic bottle, coated with red glaze. It's reasonably sized and sealed with a smooth river stone, wedged in place.

The fluid inside has a slimy consistency and smells foul and of an open sewer. It tastes weakly of cinnamon and fresh bread.

The fluid inside has a wriggling consistency and smells of decay and smoke. It tastes of plastic.

29.This potion is a metallic sepia color with a thick, molten, pink fluid flowing through it. It's held in a smooth ceramic bottle, crudely coated with gray glaze. It's palm sized and sealed with a metal stopper.

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells of death. It tastes of carrots and apple.

30.This potion is a translucent aquamarine color with a layer of slate lumps at the bottom. It's held in a yellow cylindrical gourd. It is reasonably sized and sealed with a piece of carved crystal.. The gourd has the word 'DEFLEO' painted its side.

The fluid inside has a thickly viscous consistency and smells spicy. It tastes overwhelmingly of fruit jelly.

31.
This potion is an opaque sea green color with swirls and currents of rosy fluid. It's held in a heavily tinted, fuchsia colored glass container shaped like a flat bottomed sphere with a thin, curving neck. The container is reasonably sized and sealed with a sticky mass of honeycomb.

The fluid inside has a creamy consistency and smells putrid. It tastes of strawberry.

32.
This potion is a translucent sepia color. It's held in a copper container shaped like an erlenmeyer flask with a sharp edged, pyramid shaped neck. The container is unreasonably large and sealed with a cork.

The fluid inside has a sticky consistency and smells metallic. It tastes of snot and , much more strongly, of pasta.

33.This potion is a glossy goldenrod colorwith a thick sepia sludge along the bottom. It's held in a bulbous ceramic bottle, coated with white glaze. It's reasonably sized and sealed with a sticky mass of honeycomb. A large hand print has been plastered across one side in biege paint.

The fluid inside has a honey-like consistency and smells of disinfectant. It tastes of lacquer.

34.This potion is an opaque aquamarine color with a fine blue powder suspended within it. It's held in a aluminum container shaped like an egg with a very stubby, wide mouthed neck. The container is fairly large and sealed with an ornate metal stopper.

The fluid inside has a gooey consistency and smells earthy and smoke. It tastes of shellfish and peanut butter.

35.This potion is a dark chocolate brown color with aqua flecks suspended in it. It's held in a translucent, pink colored glass container shaped like an irregular, twisted shape with an extremely long and thin neck. The container is reasonably sized and sealed with a cork.

39.This potion is a disgusting black color. It's held in a marbled, colorless glass container shaped like a coiled serpent with an extremely long and thin neck. The container is quite large and sealed with wax. It is embossed with the words 'OBDURO HODIE INVIDIA'

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells pungent and of burnt hair. It tastes of stone.

40.This potion is a bright aquamarine color. It's held in a badly scratched and worn copper container shaped like the body of a woman with a thin, curving neck. The container is palm sized and sealed with a cork and a wax coating.

The fluid inside has a creamy consistency and smells of disinfectant. It tastes very slightly of raw meat and carrots.

41.This potion is a sickly smoke color with a layer of gray lumps at the bottom. It's held in a dark brown hour glass shaped gourd. It is palm sized and sealed with a faintly glowing shard of dull blue metal.. The gourd has the word 'CELEBRER' painted its side.

The fluid inside has a semi-solid consistency and smells sour. It tastes powerfully of stale bread and almonds.

42.This potion is a cold amber color. It's held in a translucent, colorless glass container shaped like an erlenmeyer flask with an absurdly long, tapered neck. The container is small and sealed with a smooth river stone, wedged in place.

46.This potion is an iridescent olive color. It's held in a yellow two lobed gourd. It is reasonably sized and sealed with an ornate metal stopper.. The gourd has a string of jade beads wrapped loosely around it.

The fluid inside has a watery consistency and smells sweet and of sugar. It tastes of walnuts and chicken.

47.This potion is a sickly orange color with aquamarine flakes suspended in it. It's held in a smooth ceramic bottle, coated with sky blue glaze. It's palm sized and sealed with a layer of what look like iridescent insect wings. The container is covered in small bumps or nodules.

The fluid inside has a honey-like consistency and smells sugary. It tastes overwhelmingly of beans.

48.This potion is a pastel sea green color. It's held in a translucent, goldenrod colored glass container shaped like a icosahedron with a wide, conical neck. The container is fist sized and sealed with a twine wrapped wax seal. It is always slick and greasy to the touch.

The fluid inside has a impossibly fluid consistency and smells of vanilla. It tastes of rotten meat and milk.

49.This potion is an opaque blue color with swirls and currents of black fluid. It's held in a bulbous ceramic bottle, coated with white glaze. It's tankard sized and sealed with a mass of itchy, blackish stuff, like a ball of spider legs.

The fluid inside has a silky consistency and smells sharp. It tastes of fresh bread and sand.

50.This potion is a disgusting beige color with a sky blue crust along the top. It's held in a translucent, colorless glass container shaped like a coffin with an extremely large, jar like mouth. The container is quite large and sealed with a cork. It feels sticky to the touch.

The fluid inside has a thin consistency and smells minty and of peppermint. It tastes of chalk and nothing.

Hmm.  So, ignoring the stuff like shape, stopper, and words, which could mean just about anything or nothing, I think the important things are size of the potion, and redundancy with other people (which gives more data about what's inside).

That means there's three options to me.  Fifty, which is the only "quite large" potion that's been chosen twice, six, which is the only "unreasonably large" potion that has already been chosen,  and 49, which is the only "tankard sized" potion.  Ordered by rarity of the size, of course.

I choose 50, because there's the risk that potion size is negatively correlated with potency.  If someone else chooses six or forty-nine, I'll switch to that one instead.
