You might have to get a non-player to send out roles. They don't have to moderate anything so it shouldn't be too hard to find someone willing to.

I feel like there should be some kind of cryptographic construct that allows us to do it without outside help but creating one seems hard.

I'm fine with that; I'm gone over the weekend anyway.

I could run U, Robot again while we wait for some more players to show up. Or I could look for/come up with some other mini-setup.

Unless I miss my guess, every roll gives you a 0.3 chance of a success and a 0.1 chance of getting another go. That next go has a 0.3 chance of success and a 0.1 chance of another go, and so it goes infinite.

That means we can write a sum for it, which (since our numbers are all <1) should converge and give us a non-infinite number.

My brain is too fogged to go to first principles right now (>_<) so I will just present without comment that since we're multiplying by 0.1 every time we have an event, the sum of probabilities of the events is
Code: [Select]
sigma (n to infinity) 0.1^n. Which we can multiply by 0.3, since we're counting up successes not the chance to go infinite, and we get
Code: [Select]
0.3 * (sigma (n to infinity) 0.1^n), and then we can add a 0.3 for our initial event.

Because convergent series was a long time in my past, I plugged it into WolframAlpha which tells me that every roll has a 1/3 chance of yielding a success. Assuming I did the maths right. And that more-or-less lines up with your intuition.

Intuitively (without reaching for series formulas) this is just 0.3+0.03+0.003+ ..., which is 0.3333... or 1/3.

Yeah, that's definite, at the rate we're gaining players. After the 16th is pretty much a must.

In that case...

Quick hypothesis: Jack and FoU are scum, know that this is the most likely PoE for town, and he's trying to sow confusion.
Quick hypothesis: I hate you all, and I'm sick of playing with you.  I've been suspected all game by everyone, and now its going to cost the majority of you the game.  I think, at this point, I'm just going to claim to be the 3rd member of the mafia team, and change my win condition to match theirs.

ATTENTION TOWN: I was town, but am now considering myself to be Mafia-aligned.  Ergo, when you mislynch me, I shall call it a win.  And a jolly Fuck You to you all. Die in ditch.
Also if you ever post something like this you can't blame other people for your lynch. If it's genuine then town has already lost because 2 scum+you is a majority, and if it's not then you should be lynched. So the only play is for town to lynch you.

Good game, well done Magma in particular! I'm sorry I wasn't able to contribute more.

I'm probably not going to be playing mafia again on these forums.  I had thought I was socializing with my intellectual equals.  But I'm not.

The only way I'm going to succeed at this game is acting dumber than I am, just like real life.  I guess, you don't need an IQ test for this site, so it's my fault really.

And I don't come onto these forums to pretend to be dumb.
This is a bit much. Thinking that the reason you lost was because you're too much smarter than everyone else is never a good place to be. Taking a break might be a good idea because you're a little too invested in the games, but it'd be a shame to give up on something that you're passionate about because of this game. (Also there's a difference between being passionate and being too invested.)

Actually, if Roden and I are both alive tomorrow then I'll look into him more. Only reason I'm not hammering Jack now is because I want more time to read up on Magma vs FoU.

Pref was ID'd by the tracker, Toonyman.  Toonyman said to Pref "Why did you kill Blue?"

OK this is absurd. There's no way you believe this. Toony would absolutely fullclaim a guilty result, especially since he thought he was going to die in the night.
@The Town PR:
You're probably the Tracker, don't claim today unless you have a result that proves someone is mafia.

At this point Jack is just spouting off nonsense. (PPE: yep sounds about right Roden).

@Pref: Shouldn't you start after Roden?  Your townie claim will look better if you go after Roden now.  I still think you're scum, but maybe you'll be able to night kill me and convince the others?
No I shouldn't. I've townread Roden all game, just like Toony did. If Roden's scum we've lost, gg Roden. There are more productive things I can do with my time. I do not care whether my townie claim looks good to you or not.

11
If I was wrong, scum would've quick hammered my vote by now.
Possibly not, since they still need to coordinate the timing and FoU hasn't been in here yet.

12
And yeah, either he had a complete and instant attitude shift, or he was playing to win the whole time by throwing up a smokescreen of erratic behaviour (which has worked okay for him so far this game).

13
Not voting because I don't want to put someone at L-1 at LYLO.

This is an easy case to make:

Btw scum can quickhammer if you leave that vote up there Jack so you're literally proving yourself scum by self-voting.
Oops.

UNVOTE

All within literally one minute. Lynch all liars.

At some point today (game day) I'd like to see prefuzek make a case for whom he thinks is scum. The cases yesterday were fine but a town case is easy for scum to fake (since they know it's true anyway). pref, if you're town, this would really help me to read you.
OK I'll try to do that (relatively) soon.

But if FOU and I are the same alignment, as Toonyman said, then I don't want you voting FOU either.  I'm town, if Toony was right about us sharing alignment, then FOU is town also.  Which also means a mislynch.
ToonyMan thought you were scum. If you're town, he was wrong about one thing so he can be wrong about another.
