Title: Jawohl! Ein Spiel der Übermensch und Wunderwaffe. JULY 1940

25th of June, 1940

Guten Tag, Wissenschaftler und Soldaten! Today our vile enemy France has officially surrendered, and the whole German people celebrate! Yet we cannot relax our vigilance, for there are those who wish to see us conquered and defeated! Therefore our glorious Führer asks for our smartest and bravest to come together, to develop Wunderwaffe and ensure the supremacy of the Third Reich for a thousand years!

What is Jawohl?

Jawohl is a game about developing Wunderwaffe, creating Übermensch and delving into things man is not meant to know for the glory of Nazi Germany. Think of something out of a Wolfenstien game, but with more pseudoscience and craziness. Obviously historical and scientific accuracy will be largely ignored. The players will be scientists and high-ranking Nazis, tasked with inventing and developing a whole host of items for the German Reich, as well as expanding and developing their secret base and acquiring enough loot to set them up for life. But obviously the Allies can't let the players mess with nature in peace, and the players will have to fend off spies, commando teams, armies and more.

How will Jawohl play?

Jawohl will be largely freeform in gameplay, with actions being decided by a D20, plus any bonuses or negatives, of course. Combat is only a little bit more involved, using percentages to figure out whether you've hit your target or not. I'll explain more in-detail when it comes up.

How to sign up?

Simply fill out the sign-up sheet and wait. I'll take six players to start with, first come, first serve. The rest will be put into the waitlist to be rotated into the game whenever a causality occurs. Given the dangerous experiments that will be performed, I expect the death-rate to be pretty high.

Two scientists, four soldiers.

Well, they'll have backup test subjects...

I was thinking the exact same thing, actually.

Major Benefit: Experimental Vehicle Development(Building new kinds of Panzers and Planes and such.)

Experimental Vehicle Development is perfectly fine as a benefit. By itself you'd be able to develop Jet Fighters, Super Heavy Tanks, Helicopters etc. Though with some experimental technologies and new power sources, the sky's the limit (and then some).

Major benefit : Assault rifles

Assault rifles weren't developed until the 1944, so I'll put you down as just plain Rifles. When assault rifles get developed you'll have an easy time switching your major benefit to them.

There's already six people, but putting this in case of a waitlist.

Don't worry, there's definitively a wait list.

Your sheet said electrician, that usually doesn't turn people into cyborgs.

He's a Nazi scientist. He doesn't need Biomedical engineering to make cyborgs (though it certainly would help a lot).

Anyways we have six players, so let's begin, shall we? I'll write up your characters tomorrow, but you should have a good enough idea of your strengths/weaknesses for the next part of the game.

It's one of the principal things involved. You've got to wire those mechanical parts. It's just a weird coincidence.

True, but you'd also have to have medical knowledge. You can't just plug metal parts into people's bodies, you have to know how it's going to react, and body anatomy to make surrogate parts that work.

THE PROPOSAL

27th of June, 1940

It's still not entirely certain how everybody knew each other. Perhaps you went to the same universities, or visited the same bars, or heard about each other from friends and colleagues. Regardless of how you met, on this day you gather together in a Berlin hotel room. The High Party, still exuberant over the swift and total defeat of France, is willing to hand out large government grants to anybody with a good idea to further the glorious German nation. Jonas Auger and Baron Joseph Von Bridgenstein have the skills and expertise to lend any project an air of feasibility. Elleanor Auscent, Kyle Stone and Alexis Jade have the connections through the Wehrmacht to bring that project to the High Party. Johan Schmidt was merely looking for a bathroom...

The Goal:

Obviously the Nazi party isn't going to give you a secret base in the Pyrenees and large amounts of money for no reason. Therefore it is your duty to come up with a proposal, one that is feasible enough to be accomplished on time, but wonderful enough to wow the Party into giving you whatever you want. You'll need the following two things for a complete proposal.

Objective: What you want to accomplish in the name of Greater Germany, from developing an unstoppable infantry weapon to walking tanks to raising the dead. Remember that while you aren't entirely bound by the laws of nature, anything exceedingly outlandish will adversely affect how much money you'll walk away with. Obviously something feasible and very useful will probably increase the amount of funding you'll receive.

While you are certainly free to take money for yourself and work on side-projects, remember that you'll be held accountable for progress on your objective. Failing to achieve your objective will have terrible repercussions... unless you've developed something equally or more amazing, of course.

Development Time: How long you estimate it'll take to complete your objective in months. The quicker the better, but if the time is short you'll run into the deadline too soon. Feel free to use whatever arcane methods you want to come up with this number, but anything less than one year is possibly a bad idea. Two years is probably a good idea.

If you finish your project on time, at the very least you'll earn more money for your next proposal. If you did exceedingly well (or developed something separate yet amazing) then the government will grant you money to develop whatever you wish, with no objectives or deadlines to meet. And if you fail to meet your objective, then there will be consequences...

Details

You aren't going to earn a large grant with a simple proposal. You have to impress those party members, after all. So instead of "Developing a jet fighter", you're "Developing the Junkers jet fighter, capable of breaching the sound barrier and sporting four miniguns". Break down the development time to show how long you expect to work on the engines, weaponry etc. Try to outline some side benefits that may come out of your project (better propulsion, new power sources etc.). Drawings and models will definitively increase the side of your grant. I'm not expecting an amazing powerpoint presentation, but the more impressed I the party is, the more funding you'll receive.

At the very least, use the time working on the proposal to help outline your personal plans and goals. Or at the very least your plans and goals you want everyone to know about.

(( Whats the most advanced rifle we currently have USEC? ))

The Karabiner 98k, which is a bolt-action rifle and traces its ancestry all the way back to 1898. So not the kind of weapon you could convert to an assault rifle. Mind you in 1941 the Gewehr 41 will come out, but it's a very crappy rifle and definitively not something you'd want to use.

Not sure if we are doing nazi occultism, but I will be hopefully.

Nazi Occultism is totally fine. Just expect a fair number of causalities while you're working...

What are all the squares and rectangles and stuff?

Hope that helps. It's time to go to bed, so I'm probably not at my most coherent.

Ah. Whenever you awake, could you let me know how big a square is? Also, what are the green things?

Around 10x10 metres, though I have no doubts that there will be odd scale issues. Also the green things are the U-Boat pens. They're 2x9 squares so that they can fit the supply U-Boats. The regular combat types were closer to 60 metres, if I remember correctly.

So...are the green things like the "floor" of the Pens and the blue things the water's surface, or are there swimming pools on top of the U-Boat pens, or what?

Ah. The green things are the pool of the pens where the U-Boat sit, while the blue is merely open space above the pens. Does that help?

1st of July, 1940

With the ever-victorious Luftwaffe and the RAF battling over the skies of Britain, the flight to Norway is short and uneventful. After landing in Bergen you are almost unceremoniously stuffed into several Kübelwagens and driven to the base.

Several workers are still putting the finishing touches on the base as you arrive, though you can hardly complain. With the recent surrender of Norway, it's a small miracle that they managed to complete the base in time for your arrival. The previous commander of the base gives you a quick tour of the base's meager facilities (your scientific equipment having arrived just one day earlier) before jumping into a Kübelwagen and speeding off to Bergen.

Well, it's not much, but it's home.

Funding: Favour: 100, Reichsmarks 500 (+89 a month)

Projects: NONE

Spoiler: Submarine Facilities (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Players (click to show/hide)

I'll post the exact specifics about everything's statistics shortly. Obviously if I don't explain something fully, feel free to ask.

I'm sure that did not explain anything at all. Oh well. Ask as many questions as you need, and once the first turn is complete things should go a lot smoother.

Why do garages need to be built on the surface? Couldn't we build an underground garage with a ramp traverse to the surface, as one might see in a parking garage?

Those are probably even more noticeable. I mean, an underground ramp hints at underground stuff, while a bunker + garage could be a standard outpost.

With some effort, we could disguise our ramp entrance underneath a matt of snow-covered turf, with hydraulics to push it out of the way when we want something to come in or out.

If you want to go to the trouble of designing it, you can build your hidden underground garage.

"I am just a soldier, but I think it would probably be best to make aboveground garages and maybe some kind of other facilities. Make a smokescreen, y'know, maybe some kind of fake oceanography or oceanology place or something.

Or perhaps with some effort we can disguise ourselves as an Allied radar base/military outpost?

They'll never suspect that their secret base disguised as an Axis base is actually an Axis base after all :P.

Yes we must have our most trusted double agent inform them that it is secrety in the hands of the resistance.

This is so insane that the Allies will never suspect that we would do something that crazy!
That's not a compliment, that's commenting on how nuts the plan is.
